Inspired by Steve Goods Welcome to my garden Gnome. I do not have much of a Garden and I wanted to add mushroom. I also made a little larger than Steve's to fit the piece of outdoor plywood. I got a bunch of cutoffs from a shed company. Love the front side and how you accented the colours. Looks fantastic. Now you tell me about the material. LOL I just received from KPJ the sample pack plus 4 sheets of white oak and have no idea what I am going to do with them. This does give me ideas.

Funny you should mention that. I am going to make a set for my daughter and these fit a stemmed glass for white wine but my daughter drinks red. For a pop can the circle is 2 5/8 but the red wine glass 2 3/4 tapering out to 3 inches. I am going to cut the inside on an angle to see if it fits better. Keep you posted.

At our club a couple of wood turners started to turn Soda Can Covers. They are to protect getting in bugs and wasps when outdoors or woodchips in the workshop. They started out fairly plain but they got fancier and fancier. One was even in the shape of a bowler hat and one as a poop emoji. Works for beer cans too. Then the scroller has to get involved and take it to the next level that only a scroller can to with personalized covers. Made from Maple with a died birch veneer as a backer and baked FIMO clay for the initials.

I share your pain. Our local supplier in Oshawa charges 66.40 for the 5 x 5. sheet. I did not get any knot holes but I have seen a lot more of the oval discs both front and back. Next time I am going to consider buying from KPJ Hardwoods. About the same and it will be broken down ( 12 x 20 sheets are 4.46 which is equivalent to what I pay now). PS: Last time I ordered the craft MDF from KPJ. I order on a Friday morning and it was delivered on the Monday before 8.

Fantastic job. I saw Don Williams perform may moons ago and he just sat on a rocking chair and sang one song after another. I just don't want to show to my wife as Don Williams is one her absolute favorites. Thanks for posting

Thanks for all your input. When I did lessons before I used to have a whole section of squiggles and waves but I found that students got bored quickly (they are woodworkers ya know). I will remove the snow flake (thanks Sycamore67) and replace with a simple fish. I am also going to replace the teddy bear key chain too. Thanks Denny for the idea about Scroll Saw Workbook. I was able to get the ebook from our library and his ideas are really great. I haven't read completely but there are some great patterns especially for the follow up sessions. As Ray and Katie discussed it is nice to have a take home to say to the significant other "Hey honey- Look what I did - I need another tool". I may do the cell phone stand from Steve Good with an easy pattern in the middle or a simple puzzle. Thanks PS: I just need the mask mandate to be eased in Ontario so we can schedule the sessions. I did a survey for interest and so far 8 for never scrolled and then 8 that want refresher and then lots of interest in other topics like bowls, puzzles etc. I probably will do weekly session from now to Christmas.

I have volunteered to do a series of sessions on scrolling. With the members who have never scrolled - I first discuss the basics of patterns, blades and basic techniques and then get into cutting techniques. I have the basic template below which does all the corners etc. They will get 2 key chains (cat and bear). 1. I would appreciate any comments on the template. 2. Then - I need a basic project to do that would be a good take home project. I tried to do a keychains with their name and it was too difficult for some of the students. Probably have about 1/2 hour or so to devote to section. I will glue up some extra small stuff for the real keeners. (Always happens) Any suggestions would be appreciated.

This the season for gnomes. The Love You gnome is Steve Good design at 75% and changed to Love you. Mushroom compound cut pattern by Sue Mey. The other gnomes are modifications of Gnomes by Gayle at Scroller village

Really nice. I am a die hard FD-UR user. Played with the Pegas MGT blade but still go back to the FD. I am sure it is what you get used to. Question. Do you modify the puzzle pattern or buy the non puzzle patterns or both?

Are you close to the Restore in Winnipeg. I bought hanging cupboards for $20 each. They had all sorts of older kitchen cabinets. Nice kitchen stuff in expensive but the cupboards that are out of style very reasonable. You never know what you can find.

Thanks for the tip. Never used that extension before. Interesting, I drew a 6 x 6" square and did the measure path and the size was 23.71" Must do something with the nodes or the options available. The thing that really slows me down is the number of holes should be in the equation too. Thanks again.

I am a die hard Flying Dutchman (Niqua) user. I have tried the Pegas MGT and found they are more aggressive. It just takes getting used to it. I also find the Ultra reverse leave a cleaner cut on the interior verses the reverse that I bought. My conclusion is that the best blade is the one you get used to.
