cswilliams1693 posted he was having trouble with this. Not rocket science = Download the zip package - extract all Now select the svg you want. I did CustomHolidayOrnaments2025_US-Letter Select pattern you want and add name. Easy - if you follow the instructions ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ I do patterns for fellow members of our club (N/C) and I had 2 unique request this year. 1. A member order 6 different patterns from previous and this years pattern. Everyone had the word NOEL as she was not sure who was getting which. 2. Another person asked for 2 names. Pattern looks okay. I did both with the & on the top line and bottom and he was going to choose. He has a "few" more to do once he cuts one.

I make a lot of key chains and I normally use Steve Goods program. On the Daddy do list is 57 key chains that my daughter wants to give to the staff and teachers in her school. She provided me a list in word and so instead of keying them individually in to Steve Goods program, I added a period to the first of each name and the / to the end. Selected all and change font to my chain and font size to 90 and all done. No typos no proofing. Now with about 6 weeks till she needs them just need to do 10 and week,

There is a good post by the Artisan pirate on how he does it. https://www.scrollsawvillage.com/forums/topic/49694-how-do-you-make-a-compound-cut-pattern/#comment-520047 I make block in Inkscape you would just have to add the key ring. Here is a picture cut by Mimi.

HI I do a similar pattern for mimi. It was an original Steve Good pattern. This is for US Navy Vet but I do the same for US Navy . the logo is different??? I created a circle the right dimension and take the text (Arial heavy) and text>put on path. Then I have the text touch circle and do union. I see Steve's pattern is glued to a backer. I might take the backer make a little bigger and then take the letters and glued to backer at the bottom in a circle. If this seems outside your comfort zone you can send me the name in upper and I can see what I can do and what pattern Don

I down load and open in Inkscape I get the image on top of the Inkscape canvas. If you select the image you get get the arrows. Note it I double click on the downloaded file the image is directly over the canvas but same to get off the canvas. Now drag the image to left or right. I went left and then path-trace bit map, If you have any other questions please let me know.

I have EX-21 that I have had for 14 years now and it is great still. This is a normal wear situation. You can get a repair kit from Seyco https://seyco.com/product/ex-trk-normal-wear-parts-replacement-kit-for-top-tensioner-assembly/ or I replaced my my blade holders with Pegas holders. I got mine from https://artcraftersscrollsaw.com/

Can you post a link to the pattern you are looking at? I see black but it does not normally print that section.

I thought I would give a try to AI to generate a pattern of a Halloween Gnome. I asked Chat GPT for a "line art of Halloween gnome" and got back this image. I then stacked a 1/8 and 1/4 bb. Just cut the perimeter of the gnome ignoring the objects out side this(moon , cob web etc.) and the interior cuts. Now cut the interior segments. Real easy no playing in Inkscape. Beard doesn't show well but used mixture of drywall paint and white acrylic I also used Copilot and it came back with a very similar pattern.

I recently made the Steve Good's scarecrow below. (it is not in the catalogue but link is https://www.stevedgood.com/scarecrow2025.pdf The original pattern has a backer and the coat, hat and pumpkin are overlays. If you are careful and cut exactly they will match but if you go off the the line a bit the glue up will be off. So when ever I can, I cut the outline of the overlays at the same time as the backer. This is how I did it. 1. Import into Inkscape the pdf (pages 6 - 7 for the larger version.) 2. Set snapping on and move the overlays to the appropriate locations. 3. Select the background only, I change the stroke from black to red with a width of 2 px. 4. Stack -(I tape edges) add pattern to 1/8 in and stack with 1/4in. Now cut the red line and separate. , 5 Cut the 1/8 on black stroke. When you glue up it will match

As I sit here and watch my Blue Jays get killed by KC I have played around and the UMBRA font is exactly the same. I used 88 point and spacing width of 10 it works okay. In the article they put in fillers between letters but I don't think you have to do any of that as I think will be kerned correctly. I will cut this in a couple of days and see how is looks. -

I am not sure that that is a font. The closest I have is UMBRA-NORMAL. It might work. See sign below. I only have a very few issues of CWCM and this happens to be one I have. I scanned the letters, Sorry it is not straight and smudge in middle. If you need the article let me know. cc font.pdf -

Hi Rick Can you save and then post the svg here? -
I have made quite a few ribbon racks in various sports and posted some here but this weekend I made one for son of the manager of my grandson's baseball team. The manager was extremely happy. I got the picture below with in an hour. Being personalized is what makes these special.

Steve Good's Keychain maker
don in brooklin on replied to don in brooklin on's topic in General Scroll Sawing
If you have mychain.ttf on your computer you can make the keychains with A. Inkscape - Note select size about 100pts. You have to kern all the letters (the AA width 0). B. Word: (id use Libreoffice) use font mychain size 100 pts You can adjust font size if too big or small. PS: If using Inkscape and you are a person who like red lines. it can be done by converting the name to a path and and then do union on the characters. Now change fill and stroke as you desire. PS: PM for info on mychain.ttf -

I use the stand alone program and have no issues. I just tried the online version and as you say the download crashes. I have sent a screen shot to Steve and will see if he gets back to me. I usually get a response with this kind of issue. Will post if he gets bac to me. -
My wife liked the butterflies that I created for the fence so I thought I would make a sign for the gate to out backyard. TIP: It is the same design as before except smaller. When I did the yellow in the wings before I cut out at 7 degrees so they would drop about 1/16 on an inch. This time I cut at 90 degrees with a 2/0 blade as they would have a backer to glue to. I then sanded off 1/16 or so on the drum sander. The pieces were quite small and so when I paint with the rattle can I was worried that they would blow over so I put a 2 inch piece of painters tape on a piece of wood. I put on some dabs of CA and other piece so the sticky side up and attached the small pieces. Works quite well. See pic below.

I'm back with another Inkscape question
don in brooklin on replied to Hudson River Rick's topic in General Scroll Sawing
Did you open the tab under files->open recent? Are you working in windows? You should be able do search for file name with "file explorer" The saves as is a two step process as you have to select the folder give it a name and then save.
