I've never finished any outside furniture myself.

I plan on starting a pattern by Sheila Landry, and I plan on cutting another dragon taking flight so I can have a sample to show or sell later. Oh, and I have 3 pens to turn before I head back to work Tuesday cause I have a guy at the office who wants to look at the pens and place an order.

One of these days I'm gonna set up a little area with some real nice lighting so I can get better pics, but Here is my latest.. 1/2" thick black walnut measuring approx 7"x9". Has a sawtooth hanger on the back so it can be hung. Still putting the last coats of poly on it.

So far I'm using Olson blades, but I find I really only use #2 and #5's.. all reverse tooth to keep the tear out at bay.

I'm using a 15 year old Delta 16" right now. I LOVE the blade change on it. has a quick tension kinda like the excalibur does. I wish the arm lifted up like the dewalt or excalibur.. but it's cutting some nice stuff. if I could reduce the vibration it would be even better.

Nothing. Most of it was cut with a #5 reverse tooth blade, and some of the smaller corners were cut with a #2 reverse tooth. I personally think cutting the 1/2" is a pain. I will prob take the pattern and bring it down to 3/8" thick for the cutout and 1/2" for the base. Instead of using a 1/4" dowel I want to use 3/16" threaded rod, so if someone needs to they can take the fairy off the base for moving or something.

Here is a test piece I did. 1/2" cherry and a 5/8" thick base. I also turned another gearshift bottle stopper out of zebra woodand I tried a .50cal bullet pen kit. I think I need to polish the brass differently next time to get the small pits out. Anyone use the PSI kit, and find that the bullet and the case seem a bit wobbly?

Bwahahah.. I get to spam it.. Painters tape. Buy lots of it. Put the painters tape over your wood first. then glue your pattern using the spray adhesive to that. You dont have to worry about using too much adhesive then, cause the painters tape comes off every time. No more need for mineral spirits or thinners to get your pattern off. It will save you much frustration. Oh, and welcome.

The painters tape trick works amazing Ken. Trust Wombatie.. My first project I couldnt' get the adhesive off even with mineral spirits and sanding.. but with the painters tape.. perfect every time.
