  9. My saw broke down last fall and I bought a Porter cable while y dewalt was being repaired. I had it for about 6 hours and took it back to lowes. The blade was hard to change and the blade insert was too recessed . It was not a good saw for making fretwork or puzzles It was a saw that shoul have been in the $100 class at tops.I do not recomend it. IKE
  10. nice cuttings I like both of your crosses IKE
  11. I use popular, it is easy to cut and it is the cheepest hard wood that I know of I get it for $2.10 a board foot. I have used pine and pywood but popular is the best ofr me. as for keeping it plumb i use the head of a Starett combination square it is square and just fits my saw IKE

  16. When people want you to domething Quote them a price and stick with it. The very least you should charge is minimun wage plus cost. Other wise don't do it. I don't useally take special ordrers unless I can show them the pattern and tell them that is it . no changes made. On names have a set price on them. One price for all single names more than one name you get a differein prick.YOU SHOULD NOT LOOSE MONEY ON ANY THING YOU DO. IF YOU SCREW UP YOU WILL EAT THE LOSS , ike

  20. I for one will not take special orders where I have to make a pattren#1 you can't make a pattrn to suit her you have to make adjustments, thats not too bad but by the time you have them made she will come up with more added to it. So i don't take special orders and when i do ishow them the patte and say this is it, what you see is what you get and then when they say od and then want more changes i tell them to forget it I will then not make the project for them.IKE
  21. I have a Dewalt 788 and that is the best that I can afford. I usealy put in about $80 in repairs per year. A new D.W. 788 cost about $550 and the next step up is about $700. Just figure out what you can afford and go from there . IKE
  22. I have a small thin 6" scale ( ruler) that I clamp on then I go to the other side and tighten that set screw loosen the thumb screw and tighten the left side screw 1/8 of a revulutionthat always take care of that problem. I have a dewalt 788 saw. IK
  23. i HAVE A 2 GAL sHOP vAC UNDER MY SAW TABLE WITH HOWE JUST UNDER THE BALDE IT PICKS UP A LOT OF THE HEAVIER DUST BUT MISSES THE FINE DUST. I ALSO HAVE A SHOP VAC AIR CLEANER ( COST ABOUT $130) SETTING CLOSE TO THE SAW WHICH COLLECTS A LOT OF THE FINE AIRBORN DUST. i ALSO WEAR A RESPRATOR AND i DON'T HAVE ANY PROBLEMS WITH THE DUST tHE TOTAL COST OF THE DUST COOLLECTION IS ABOUT $200 i SELL MY WORK AT CRAFT SALES AND BOUGHT THESE WITH MY PROFITS ike
  24. I agree with kevin. The one I had only took pined blades. You just can't do any complicated fret work with that saw. IKE
