  1. Welcome to the Village Patrick, please make yourself at home, here we are all just friends who have gone through the same learning process as you're about to venture on, it takes a bit of time and a lot of wood to practice but it will all work out for the best. Hell many of us scrollers have been at it for 40, 50 and even 60 years and we're still learning. Just remember that it takes 1 hole at a time to create a master piece. And don't be to hard on your self. Get used to using the spiral blades cause once you master them you'll wonder how people can scroll without them. Good luck and show us your progress we love to look at pictures. .../Hans
  2. Thanks Frank
  3. Money talks Kevin at least mine does it always say's goodbye
  4. Well Thank you Kevin I guess it all comes down to, are you a scroller for profit or is scrolling your interest and hobby. As you know I don't sell any of my pieces so it is strictly my interest and in order to keep me interested I have to challenge myself each time. I literally scour the internet for hours looking for patterns that I want to cut I seldom buy patterns as I live on a very small pension and just cant afford to buy my patterns, besides at the speed I go through patterns there just wouldn't be enough money for groceries and patterns if you know what I mean
  5. Thank you yes it was all cut with #1 spirals and plenty of them as this is so intricate you have to make sure you use sharp blades or the vibration and the force pressure breaks pieces out.
  6. Linda and Dan its the music from music box dancer.
  7. This all depends on how good you are with spiral blades.
  8. nice job Kevin Love the saws, keep on plugging away.
  9. Thanks everyone for the compliments
  10. Great job nice finishing touch I like it thanks for sharing .../Hans

  14. Hello David welcome to the village Plenty of free patterns here to get you from a rookie to a pro in no time if you cut 2 a day you should be through them in a few years ask Amazing Kevin he's probably the only one ever doing it or at least it seems that way. Hey its all about comradery and friendship and we have a lot of fun here. .../Hans
  15. Sorry folks for those of you requesting a copy of this pattern, this pattern has been in my file for quite a while and I have no idea where I got it from. I looked around and found it on several of my scroll saw friends Facebook pages but they are from every corner of this planet and don't have to deal with copy rights like we do in the United States and Canada so we copy from each other. I have a copy of it on file but its not legal to post it on this site as I have no Idea who the designer of it was. Sorry
  16. Thanks Russell this pattern is a real popular one I think anyone that owns a scroll saw has cut this pattern but for the life of me I can't remember where I got it from. I will browse around to see if I can find it again.
  17. Thanks Dan
  18. Hello Linda welcome to the village I see you met a lot of the gang already. As for being odd woman out that is not the case here there are actually quite a few women here and some excellent scrollers. I love your puzzles very well done the paint adds a lot to the overall project. BUT we have to have a talk about the shop. THAT IS NOT A SHOP ITS AN OFFICE WITH TOOLS IN IT There isn't even a speck of dust on the desk not even a splinter of wood on the floor NO NO NO thats not a shop. All kidding aside it looks as though its a great place to hang out and make sawdust and designer kindling. Hope to see lots of project pictures in the future. .../Hans PS can you please throw a handfull of sawdust on the floor before you post your next pictures?
  19. Gracias Frank
  20. Thanks for the compliments people.
  21. Welcome to the Village Duane much like myself my place looks like a museum with all the pieces I've made but it doesn't matter as I live alone also and never sell anything I make. Just recently I decided to quit making little things as my place is filling up so now I do projects that take a while. Make yourself at home and browse around there is ton's of free patterns to take advantage of and every morning someone cooks breakfast that you can join in. have fun is the main thing and everybody here is friendly and please ask anything but be careful You will get a lot of answers cause everyone wants to help. Have a great day in my 50 some odd years of scrolling I have learned one thing......Scrolling is boring.................and cutting .../Hans
  22. I remember When I lived in Canada I used to buy what they called door skins for my scrolling but its only good on one side but a heck of a lot cheaper then birch and for portrait work you only need one good side.
