  5. Kevin ,when you see some of you work, that you actually forgot you did ,on display ,still enjoyed by the recipient ,It sure makes you feel glad inside and worth the hard work and effort you put forth in making memories for others .Some of thier stories of the reaction of others to them are priceless .Great gift we have we don't always see ! Very Nice boost ,some will never get! Ain't it Great!
  6. This is one of the pieces ,that I will always keep ,Funny how you can get attached to some more than others . The high gloss and my photographic skills leave much to be desired ,looks much better w/o the reflection shown in the poor pix,
  7. Hobby lobby has some shaped like spikes ,looked good too ,maybe one day ,so many gadgets so little money !
  8. Just playing around ,starting to get the itch to go fishing ,weather starting to warm again ,3 days of rain over .
  9. You have to really tip toe ,as there is limited material for shaping ,especially as the front is larger than the back,I learned a lot and it was fun a fun change of pace! I thought it came out pretty good ,for a trial pc.
  10. Well done ,on all four ,theres a lot of work there ! I love the marlin !!
  11. Dam ,you were fast I had to redo the pix down load and was coming right back ! now see what you think !
  12. I have been playing with ,an Idea ,before going crazy with good wood ,I thought I'd try a sample piece ,out of some planing recycled fir I had .I went small for the trial ,finished 5"x7".
  13. You could be right ,But if she's as smart as you say ,May be ,just maybe ----------- well you fill in the rest!!
  14. Larry, I am sure my bodies ,been doing that for years ,some of it I Think I can Remember how it used to be ,others say I was never that good ! sound familiar to any one else ,going thru the same thing !Or am I alone !!
  15. Working ,consentration on all the details of a project ,things start to change so gradually and slightly that no actual problem is detected ,work continues ,interuptions breaks etc. pretty soon your having a condition you start working around that you never had before .Still a nuisance more than a problem ,before long it is a problem but happened so gradually it's hard to find ,such was the rescent issue with the clamping distortion of the blades I had . Clipping the blade helped ,but the hidden disconnected tip was the culprit ,Replaced the offenders ,and everything straightened out again .The point is some times this gradual progression is harder to find and fix ,and can lead you down the wrong path several times trying to locate the source .Breakage and stoppage are easy to identify if not easy to fix. Everybodies input helped me find and cure the problem ,Thanks!
  16. Finding your nietch (what ever suits your style and set-up)Mine is setting at the saw in an easy comfortable position becoming as much part of the saw as I can ,788 lowered to my chair hieght about a 6" forward tilt foot switch attached to stand center plate ,with velcro ,good lite ,mag & vac going ,about 2 hrs. max. coffee at hand ,then a break or interuption occurs ,unless in the middle of the nite .
  17. Able to save old clamp! I'll have to think up a new excuse up!!
  18. Dick! You can grab the end of the tip of the clamp screw after you remove it with just your fingers and rotate the knob and the tip will remain stationary in you fingers while you can keep rotating the knob ,the tip is hollow ,the tip shaft is held in the hollow with an o-ring allowing it to rotate ,but it rotates stays and straight and true to 90 degrees to the threaded shaft because there is no ball connection like a c-clamp ,and rides on aparalell pivoting shaft internal in the clamp screw held in place by the oring mini sleeve . It is a pretty precision piece of work ,hard to see this capibility with the naked eye ! By the way ,I was able to press out the offending monkeyed up tip on the old clamp and install new set screw and new clamp screw ,I was concerned, that doing so would distroy the threads for the set screw ,but I was able to retap damaged threads and with lock tight the stationary position of the set screw shoul dnot effect the the useability of that assembly for a spare . I really can't see much need as the new one should last longer than my interest in scrolling ,but who knows It's here and ready ,I hope that all made sense Phew ! long winded ,slow typer ,takes time ! Carl
  19. I tried to repair ,swivel tip is monkeyed up and stuck in clamp ,now that I have a new one I will try to drive the old tip out to see if salvage able . On ward and upward ,no more excuses from this anyway ,thank you everybody !
  20. Well ,ups just brought new parts ,installed ,anti-seize lube ,new set screw flush ,everything seems to work flawlessly ,pix of trapped swivel tip in old clamp . Took all of 5 minutes to change ! Sorry for the poor Quality of the pix .
  21. Ok! I took some pix of the saw as it is with the clamp screw set on the table ,you can see the hollow end w/ the hole for the tip ,that is stuck still in the clamp I inserted a thread of paper between the set screw and the stuck tip ,I hope it shows up ! I too think it is a good design ,as mentioned about non flat clamping , capabilities ,the spirals certainly apply ,even the supposed flat ends are truly not , at least none I have received ,much better but not flat ,normal wear on the threads after ,years of faithful surface ,I am sure equates to even the best design has it's limits ,thousand and thousands of hole changes effects more then the finger fatigue .Any way ,I hope the pix will show ,what I was trying to explain ,parts should be here ,in a few days ,right now ,I will just realign ,and use in it's limited capacity ,The 788 t.1 has been a great saw ,but like me has some age and hard use on it ! Been rode hard and put a way wet more than a few times. ! Clipping started as a means to and end ,before I homed in on the real issue ,I probably should have not posted ,till I had all the answers .The clipping does help when quarters are close ,in the center of a large pc. Your answers and comments kept me thinking till I found the answers so far ,and for that I am grateful sorry if I confused or lead any one down the wrong path ,My posts have never been to mis inform anyone about anything .Thanks for your patients and suggestions and comments ! PIX ALL BLURR W/TAKE SOME MORE AND POST! Ok reposted second is best still not what I would like but I think you get the idea !
  22. The set screw does not the pivot is on the clamp screw ,you only need on one side like a C-Clamp only more precise ! The set screw only has to be wide and flat to work properly as an anvil post .The corrective slippage is at the last instant of clamping eliminating distortion of the blade from any twisting under force.
  23. I think you are right .I been thinking how best to do that ,still thinking!
  24. I ,found some blue fabric ,added some clouds ,notice, I had trimmed branch (on the black background pix ) to eliminate floating ,but I not like the shift ,maybe with a different frame ? See what you think ? I skipped the coffee ,made some early ,wanted to try it out ,before playing some golf ,another beautiful day here ,got to clean out bird houses later ,they are getting busy ,Thanks for the help and ideas ,the golf carts here ,Later ,Carl
  25. Two different versions of Dan's excellent pattern ,I hope , I did it justice ! Which do you prefer ? the background can be changed on both ,I thought a sky blue ,might be excellent ,didn't have ,so I used white for contrast .Any suggestions ? OK ! I found some fabric added a couple small clouds ,what's the verdict ,The floating branch is another issue to be considered ,Having choices ,adds a new element to the craft! Your thoughts and input welcome !
