  1. All of mine are variable speed ,but seems power is not it's strong suit ,hope it does everything you want and well ,just be careful .
  2. I like all the drill dust in one place ,and the flat area and control of drill press with out burning up the bits ,and the high speed scream of the dremel ,plus drilling w/ a back stop and chasing the dremel and haveing it crashing on to the floor in between ,but I love my dremel but it is confined to a gantry w/ a flex shaft along w/ the foredom ,easy to get careless w/ a dremel and have unintended booboos ,but then I have accidents (being a clutz ) knocking hand dremels on the floor breaking them ,and taking a short cut and dam near drill my self and unintended items over the years ,so just be careful , and have fun !!
  3. I made a deep throated drill press ,drills to 14" from center -edge .So you could do a 28"x28" piece ,
  4. You can feel the pride in the excellent piece ,that's what makes a masterpiece!
  5. That is excellent advice ,it gives you fresh eyes after boo-boos to consider things unthought of the day before ,sure beats reacting and leads to responding to the issue .the older I get ,the more I see the the value of a break and clearing my head .sure wish ,I had learned that yrs.earlier ,then I might be half as smart as I like to think I am .I think it's time for a break and think about that !!
  6. I love working with cedar ,takes a fab. finish ,sounds like a good buy!
  7. You sure can ,or you can mount it as a knee switch like my commercial sewing mach has to lift the foot and an air lift for the arm ,just what every works best for you and your situation dictates and you want . Some people are more addicted than others ,That's what keeps the process going ,But what ever the alteration THE BLADE IS STILL THE BOSS!!
  8. Yeah ! I should have posted on April first !That would have been a HOOT! Great tee shirt stuffing there for sure !! Beats hell out of Gramma's turkey stuffing ! But don't tell Gramma!
  9. It's all been said ,awsome job all around ! especially cutting the names !
  10. That's the best news I've heard in a long while ,Thanks for letting me know !
  11. experimenting with some cedar scrap ,some interestig possibilities for such a small Piece !
  12. WE ALL have our own way of solving are own problems ,some are more creative than others ,and thats the way it ought to be ,finding your own path works best for a ALL! Suggestions are just that ,like the man said I like to walk a mile in the other fellows shoes ,then I'm a mile away and got his shoes!
  13. If you ever spray laquer in the late evening or very early in the morn the is a chance moisture in the air will turn your object a flat ashe white if not completely in spots ,if it ever happens let me know! I won't bore you with details as must not be very common as no one has posted the problem that I know of !!
  14. Since you edited you post ,,Micro adjust your table ! This is not a main stream idea or is it probabaly seriously thought of as a fix ,However .there is more than one way to skin a cat ! You just need to want a skined cat ! Mine is skinned !
  15. That's the one I was telling you about !could not give better info ,but knew some one else had the correct address.Great site for all saw's lot of value there!
  16. The worst bow is in the middle of the blade ,both ways ,your steering point is the top (what you can see as you steer ) similar to the puntuation symbol at left The eye corrects (lets pressure off the cut till the upper line of the blade looks straight but the bottom bow (under the surface is still there )and turns complicate further straightening ,Hard to explain but you can dam sure see it in the piece and the waste after the fact ,It' not impossible to do but VERY chalenging to do with out really thinking while your cutting ,I have not mastered it ! Good luck ,look forward to your progress ,When I get the front to back OK ,I find the side bow ATE MY LUNCH!
  17. I tried it once ,thats when you see what the blade flex will do to you ,really tough waiting for the frt.to back flex to catch up and be straight at turns ,the center is always lagging ,then you really get to see how much ,side flex you are dealing with ,two different woods adds a new dimention as the grain will also add more problems to the mix ,You are able to see all the ,normally unseen effects of small thin blade trying to eat it's way thru thick dense stock .expensive lesson but if you really look at all the pieces you will get a real understanding of the forces and effects of scrolling ,and is helpful when cutting thinner stock and how important smooth easy even feed is without any extra side pressure ,Thats the smooth easy control I keep refering to .I would reccomend everybody cutting a scrap piece of 2x4 or 2x6 just to personally see how much normal unseen force they are using and the effect it has ,makes a believer out of you fast, then you can see what you are doing ,and go about correcting any force issue have ,tight turns ,even curves ,really show what's going on that you never saw before ! When you consider all that it was an excellent learning experience ! It cost you some expensive wood but I'll bet it will save you a lot in the future and improve your technic ,and the quality of you work ,far beyond what you may think right now !IMHO
  18. Very nice ,I love the frame ,sets it off!
  19. Rick's scrollsaw ,is where you want to go!
  20. Who's the saw for ? your are right about Grizzle ,thier service and site are excellent !
  21. Bill ,congrats on the new saw! best advice I can give ,what ever blade you choose ,what ever you decide to cut ,The blade is the boss ,feed only as fast as the blade can cut smoothly .you are the feeder ,the direction and pressure you impose determines how well the cut is made ,force is not your friend ,smooth easy complete control is your job Tight tention no side pressure ,you can not force any more than the lathe ,practice hand drawn circles ,best training ,then tight corners ,and you will be amazed what you can do letters are excellent start w,thin stock then advance to thicker ,(RULE1) The Blades is boss( Rule 2) The blade is still Boss (Rule 3) refer to rule one and two !!(RULE 4) there are no EXCEPTIONS ,stupid !! Best of luck !! Carl !!
  22. That is one beautiful piece of work ! Your easil ,could stand a little work .LOL
  23. You are able to do what most cannot without your knowledge and ability and convert correctly, A bunch screwed up and tried to use as was and got into issues ,that was why my simple exclusion .
  24. Sorry inside( April fools day) attempt at humor!
  25. They may not have Harbor frt. in the UK .$13.00 well spent ,your hands have enough to do without leaving control of the piece to start and stop the saw ,love the foot switch ,conversions not designed for use can be BAD ,some are not designed use with that motor and can burn up saw's motor thats why sewing machine foot switches should NOT be used ,Careful ,motors and control board are not cheap !
