  1. Craigs list might be a good place to buy a pretty good saw,if money is an issue for you. Do not buy one that needs pinned blades or the HF saw. Go for DeWalt, on craigslist and be sure and hear it run and cut, if you do go to look at one. there are quite a few pretty good saws out there. so ask before you buy one. You will find that you will get a lot of responses about saws here. Welcome to our world wide family Dick heppnerguy
  2. Marg, You sure made everyone's eyes open wide with the marvelous cutting job you did on this project. I think the complexity of this pattern would make just about anyone wonder if it was every going to be finished without something going wrong before the final cut was made. Simply amazing on your part and Mahendra showed his pattern making abilities is so good that he can accomplish whatever is set before him, no matter how complex it may be. Dick heppnerguy
  3. excellent job on this project. If one takes the time to learn and use spirals well, I don't think there is any 'turning back' for intricate fret patterns. Top notch Dick heppnerguy
  4. really well done, as are all of your projects. What a perfect gift for them. They will surely cherish for a long time to come and every time they look at it, they will be thinking about you Dick heppnerguy
  5. What a cute little snowman. I always enjoy seeing your work as you do a very nice job cutting, painting and finishing your projects. Thanks for posting them for all of us to enjoy also Dick heppnerguy
  6. Really nice. where can I find this pattern? I really like it a lot and thanks for the finish suggestion. I am going to give it a try and see how I like it Dick heppnerguy
  7. very nicely made. He will surely love it. Always good to challenge yourself and when you finish the challenge well, like you did this one, you know that you have the ability to do more of this type of pattern and before you know it, you understand that you can now go a step even further in your skill level Dick heppnerguy
  8. Nicely done. women and girls really seem to love these little boxes. Well done on your part. Dick heppnerguy
  9. really creative and cute Dick heppnerguy
  10. Thank you for all your posts. I find them to contain some good ideas and have read and saved the link to look back on in the future in case I have not follow through with these ideas. Dick heppnerguy
  11. your dogs would probably make you throw them out. After all they are surrounded by your quality of work and on seeing mine, they probably would not let me into your house again Dick heppnerguy
  12. Good observation but I asked how they spelled their pets names. I followed how they told me. The spelling of names now days is something I see people like to do a lot. I guess that was in their agenda here. Thanks for pointing that out as I do not like to misspell someone's name, but I have done that more than once as I was making special request items and had to remake it. I really try to follow that part to the letter, (no pun intended}. Dick heppnerguy
  13. I like the personalization you did with these. People love to see things with their names on them. Great idea and of course your work is always done very well. Always enjoy seeing your posts Dick heppnerguy
  14. I think they are very outstanding. I love every post you make Dick heppnerguy
  15. I do not think I have tried that product yet. but not really sure Dick heppnerguy
  16. I guess I am not alone on how I finish. I just don't seem to get what I am after when I do. I will talk with Scrappile in a couple of weeks as we will be back up in Oregon so I will bless him with my visit. Of course, I will need to just sneak up to his house so he can't take off and hide from me Dick heppnerguy
  17. That is pretty much what I do too. Maybe one needs to take that cap off the can first, but I have found after doing that, I need to keep buying more of them.. Cheaper to leave the cap on them Dick heppnerguy
  18. It seems like almost everyone in our family are dog owners. So I thought, since they all love their dogs so much that I would make them an ornament with their dog's name on it. So on Thanksgiving we will be with most of them and it will be soon after that they will put up their Christmas decorations and I hope they will enjoy using these ornaments at that time. I usually do not like painting wood items but at Christmas it often seems like the thing to do, so I did this to these. Dick heppnerguy
  19. wow very nice. I wish I understood the dying process you use. I looks fabulous. How did you finish it after you dyed it? Dick heppnerguy
  20. I believe that is the best single sale amount that I can remember ever seeing. Wonderful job. The products and display must have been fabulous. Congratulations Dick heppnerguy
  21. What a nice display of your great scrolling and finishing abilities. Would make one really feel proud of their time in the military when they saw this. Beautifully displayed as well Dick heppnerguy
  22. Still working hard on the DeWalt of yours, and continuing to turn out a loft of projects. Not sure how you do it all Dick heppnerguy
  23. Wow, competition is tremendous where ever it took place. I was wowed by your and then I see the other piece and was also amazed by it. Sure unforces my understanding of why I know I am a mediocre scroller, at best. Wonder and amazing projects Dick heppnerguy
  24. When I first saw this pattern I knew I had to give it a try. I struggled with the joints and the finish but over all I like it. I struggle with understanding how to put a good finish on my project which takes away from what it could be like in the end. Maybe I need to take some lessons from Scrappile when I go see him again later this month. I can always learn something from him. We usually just sit and chat when I visit with him but this time I may pick his brain and try to come home with some much needed knowledge Dick heppnerguy
  25. Sometimes, the cost of special wood can be too expensive for me and I would prefer to do segmentation. for that very reason. The results from segmentation is very satisfying but it can be a step up in the long run. One still needs to do what works for them. I usually just use what I have on hand and for the most part I and the people that see my work, all seem to enjoy it. Being retired and not a lot of money to spend on things, segmentation can work well Great piece, by the way. One to be really proud of. Dick heppnerguy
