  1. I wish you were here in Arizona instead of Florida so we could cut a few pieces together. I would love to watch you cut as I believe everyone has something that others can learn from. Glad to see you cutting through the winter months while away from home. Nice work Dick heppnerguy
  2. It is a very nice piece. I agree with the placement of the nativity scene but I do think when lit up, it stands out the best. Dick heppnerguy
  3. My wife wanted a new plaque for her wall and she wanted it to have a red backer board and a pretty design. Well, going through some of my patterns. I found this one that was designed and shared by our own, 'grampa'. and when I showed her the pattern, she her eyes lit up and I could hear the excitement in her eyes as she told me that it was perfect and beautiful. So off to the shop I went to cut it. It took longer then I had anticipated and after I had it cut I showed it to her for your approval. "It's beautiful. Now be sure and take your time finishing it for me." I had to admit that I was glad she had said that to me as I tend to hurry through the finishing part on my projects because I get so excited to see it all done and ready to be hung. It came out to be exactly how she wanted it and I was happy with it too. So there you go. Thank you for your generosity of sharing your beautiful pattern for all of us to use. Dick heppnerguy

    Howdy!

So happy to welcome you to our friendly and happy family here in THE VILLAGE. If you have any questions about anything to do with scrolling, just ask. It could be about a saw, or blades or wood or patterns or any problems you encounter along the way. Just remember to take your time and have fun. Start with simple patterns and then move on as you feel you are getting comfortable with what you are presently cutting. Nice of you to find us nice enough to want to sign up here. I know you will not regret it, nor will we Dick heppnerguy
  5. A big WELCOME to you from Southern Arizona. Nice be able to add one more Australian to our world wide family here in The Village. We are all friendly here and posting a lot help everyone to know each other better. Dick heppnerguy
  6. I was so happy to hear how well you are doing now. Glasses are free at the VA. So glad I found the time to chat with you.. made my day Dick heppnerguy
  7. How's your winter place working out for you? I hope you can manage to come out way next winter. Still wanting to meet you Dick heppnerguy
  8. Nothing to brag about but...my wife wanted this sign for a table in our home entry way so here it is. It is a 2 layer piece, the front being red wood from Lowes and the backer board being 1/4 inch BB Ply painted black, that extends out a little ways that sort of trims it. It is a little hard to see the extended part because of the dark counter top I laid it on for the photo. Just wanted you all to know that I am not out of my shop all the time Dick heppnerguy
  9. Good to know I am not alone here Dick heppnerguy
  10. Thank you.. I was hoping you would let me share your great imagination and put it to use for myself. I will get on that this week. You are a fine fellow, Dan Dick heppnerguy
  11. Hey those words are great ones. Such good advice.. I hope I remember that in the future. Dick heppnerguy
  12. I have a barber whom I enjoy so much. Would you mind if I copy your idea and make him a sign for his shop? I know he would love one hanging in his shop too. I just to not have the great imagination and creativity that you possess. I love the one you made. It looks great on his wall Dick heppnerguy
  13. It is amazing how people do like getting things with their names on them or simply their names cut in wood. Nice idea for the ornaments. Dick heppnerguy
  14. I never thought of getting used or scrap 2 X 4's and doing what you did. "look out dumpsters, here I come !" nice projects. and yes it is a Steve Good pattern Dick heppnerguy
  15. Marg. You are looking at things incorrectly.. I is not that you don't get weekends any longer, it is that 'every day is a weekend'. at least that is the way I like to look at things. Dick heppnerguy
  16. What a tremendously giving group. I would love to find a group of people like this where I live. Doing for others certainly warms my heart. Just think, if the SSV started something like this and had every member donate only 5 pieces of children's home made items, how nice that would be. I bet the response would be big from our family here. Sure the cost of mailing them would add up some but the warmth put into ones heart, would find the postage a small price for the smiles and happiness it would bring to others Dick heppnerguy
  17. I love the simple character pieces, myself. I do not know about the band but I do like the characteristics of this piece. It is fun just to look at Dick heppnerguy
  18. I often do the same thing to myself. I guess I just want everything to be perfect but I always seem to get in a rush as I get closer to the end part of my projects. I guess for me it is part of my nature. As far as your plaque goes, it looks really well done. I like to make backer boards on almost all of my pieces whether it call for one or not. That is because I feel it helps make the work stand out much better with a high contrast backer board. If I was making this one with the dark wood you have, I would use a small metal washer and putting the pencil in the hole of the washer, I would trace around the entire outline and make that, the pattern for my backer board. I especially like the entire outline around my plaques because it kind of acts as a frame too. I would paint the backer board White and when glued on, it would help to make those letters and frets stand out really well and it is a whole lot easier then trying to paint the inside of the cuts that you want to make stand out. oh, and keeping the plaque thickness at no more than 1/4 inch also helps everything stand our better too Dick heppnerguy
  19. A happy customer means a 'come back customer'. Can't argue with the one paying the money. Just not a good idea. Never tried to do one of these boxes but who knows, I may some day.. I like your jewelry boxes a lot Dick heppnerguy
  20. I am with Rocky, as my knowledge of this person is no where to be found. But I do know a nice job of cutting when I see one and you did a really good job on this one Dick heppnerguy
  21. not only is it cut very well, you really added some interest to it using your obvious, great imagination.. I hope Sam sees this because it WILL make his page for sure. One to be proud of Dick heppnerguy
  22. Glad to see you are now back on the saw. Your eyes must be all healed up. As is expected, your work is always top notch. You take the simple ones and make them pieces of art Dick heppnerguy
  23. Thank you. I have purchased some of his patterns, right after his passing. that was the first time that I had heard of him and I purchased several of his patterns to try and help his wife out a little, financially Dick heppnerguy
  24. You are a funny guy.. Dick heppnerguy
  25. thank you Marg, Merry Christmas to you as well. You will be all through with your Christmas day as we are just starting ours. I hope you had a really nice one. I know the satisfaction you must feel by making the gifts yourself and seeing the delight on the faces of those that receive your hand made items, Dick heppnerguy they sure are good words to live by. I try to always remember that. Merry Christmas to you and yours Dick heppnerguy
