  1. The idea here is to make it so it is easy to maneuver your wood on your table . Some us bees wax and many do not. Try it and if it helps you when you scroll, you will want to continue with it. trying different things is a learning experience and you will soon see that blade brands and types for the scroll saw is like asking someone what is the best pick up or car. You will get a lot of different answers there too but you will need to try different ones and see what works best for you. When you find it, you will know it. Best of luck to you and we are all glad you found us, now stick around and become part of this wonderful family here. You will not regret it if you do,,,,,,,,,,I promise Dick heppnerguy
  2. Welcome from Southern Arizona. One of the most important things you will want for success in scrolling are the right blades. the big box stores do not carry the ones you need for scrolling. If you do not know what I am talking about or where to buy the right blades, just ask and you will get several sources to use Dick heppnerguy
  3. Welcome to The Village. Nice to hear your idea about donating to help others in need of raising funds to help others as well. We have a man in our area who does that with toys for kids and his donations have raised of $15,000 over the years. Good plan.. I hope you make it work like the man I told you about Dick heppnerguy
  4. I found out the same thing about what I think will sell and it sits. every once in awhile I throw in a pattern I think no one will like and I end of selling them almost before I post them. What a lesson learned there for both of us. Welcome to The Village, be careful here as everyone is so nice and it is difficult to stay away once you start knowing everyone. Dick heppnerguy
  5. Jake, Glad you decided to join us. I hope you enjoy your scroll saw, If you have any questions or concern as you learn about this great hobby, just ask. Welcome from Southern Arizona Dick heppnerguy
  6. A big welcome from Warm and sunny Southern Arizona. psst. it really isn't that warm right now, I am glad you found us and hope to see a lot of your work and comments here also Dick heppnerguy
  7. Your plane patterns are so awesome, I still need to cut the one you sent me.. soon... Dick heppnerguy
  8. Jim, You are so creative. I love this one. Dick heppnerguy
  9. Interesting story. Never heard that before. Thanks for taking the time to write and post it for the rest of us Dick heppnerguy
  10. and you thought you were done with Christmas requests.. Dan, you are just too amazing at what you do Dick heppnerguy
  11. You certainly have a unique way of making patterns and layered images. It is not only unusual but very outstanding the way the different woods make the pieces come to life. It is a lot like intarsia but in it's own realm. I love them all Dick heppnerguy
  12. Dan, I like these little personalized ornaments and I think I will try to remember them and make some to use as tags on our Christmas gifts to others. I already use the angel pattern that I cut and give to people that can use a little reminder that they are not alone in what ever seems to be bothering them. I call them 'pocket angels" and ask them to carry them in their pocket or purse as I reminder that someone else also 'cares' about their problems. Then some day they can give them to another that they think could use the encouragement too. You put a real special meaning in the ones you made too. Dick heppnerguy
  13. It is fun to view your work, particularly because you are fairly new at scrolling and you confidence is showing. You even made your own pattern here. Congratulations on a job well done Dick heppnerguy
  14. I like this project too. I also enjoy fret work the most. I believe I have this pattern too, but I have never cut it. You did a top notch job with it Dick heppnerguy
  15. Well, I have to say that I enjoyed your video. Always like to see when and how others cut and make projects. I also really liked the resin. I do not know anything about working with that media, but I can sure see from your work, that it has a lot of potential to add a lot of interest to ones work. Very nicely done and I am glad I was able to view you in a progressive way Dick heppnerguy
  16. A nice scrolled piece. They will enjoy this one when they get it. I am not familiar with Vermont and I have a question for you. Is the background wood that the plaque is hanging on, part of the work here and if so, is it the shape of Vermont? I know how stupid this question seems but I already know I am save to ask it here in The Village as I have seen It written so many times.."There is no stupid questions here in The Village".. I may be testing some waters here with this one though Dick heppnerguy
  17. I was thinking your thoughts as I viewed this piece......How and why could Alex imagine and design such a project? That alone, boggles my 3 celled mind. This should raise a lot of comments and questions from the ones that view this at your house. I could spend the remainder of my life and not even begin to figure out how to make a pattern for that. It sure interesting though. Dick heppnerguy
  18. NICE. I too have one of my works hanging in our previous church in Oregon. Your plaque will certainly draw the attention of those in the ones that are attending the adult classes in your church. I bet you will end of with some people that want you to make one for their house. They are very beautiful and certainly filled with wisdom and faith. Dick heppnerguy
  19. thanks for posting the link. I have saved it and will read it when I get a chance. Looks like some good info there Dick heppnerguy
  20. thanks to a post I saw today, I remembered that I too had made this Steve Good pattern for my daughter in Heppner, several years ago and while we were at her house for Thanksgiving, she told me that here Indian Warrior piece had broken and she would like me to make her a replacement, so I did, and here it is. I added a backer board to give it more support, so it should not break again. I sure was glad that 'toothpick' posted a photo of the one he made; It rattled my brain and helped my remember the one I owed my daughter. So I downloaded the pattern and went to me shop and cut it, a couple of hours ago. Ready to mail, tomorrow Dick\ heppnerguy
  21. We live in Southern Arizona, as a lot of you know, and it is a mecca for people from the north because the winters are so much warner here. We have several people who own houses on our street that are from Canada. They have purchased houses here and come down every winter. Well. our nearest neighbors are Canadians and are really interesting and friendly people. So this year when my wife makes her Christmas cookies and takes them to the people on our street along with a Christmas card, I decided to cut some ornaments or something I can find special for them. These as a couple of items that I decided to give a couple of our neighbors this year, along with the cookies and their card. The first one is obviously for our Canadian neighbor and the music one is for a single man that moved into our neighborhood and has quickly become a good friend as well. He plays the base and is in a music group and has other musicians come to his house and jam with him, so I thought he might like the treble clef, I believe it is referred to, so this will be his added gift. Both items are Sue Mey's patterns. Dick heppnerguy
  22. Dan, that is about as cute as cute can be. Very nice work, as usual. Dick heppnerguy
  23. They look just like photos. Well cut. Thanks for sharing these with us Dick heppnerguy
  24. terrific project. Paul (Scrappile) is such a helpful person. So glad he is my friend as well as a family member, here in The Village. Your extra effort to get this one right, ended up more then just right, it is very artistically pleasing, as well Dick heppnerguy
  25. A wonderful rendition of our flag. I love the way you used the burn technique to add to it's character. Two thumbs up on this one Dick heppnerguy
