  1. An extremely nice piece. I will be excited to see more coming from you. It is apparent that you pay attention to what you are doing and are after the best possible results you can get. Well I guess you should be receiving an A+ on this one. Keep at it and pretty soon you will be a master of your craft. Congratulations on a job well done Dick heppnerguy
  2. First of all the plaque itself it cut from 1/4 inch BB Ply. I personally do not care for plaques that are much thicker then that. Steve Good sometimes suggests 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch pattern thickness. I often convert those to 1/8th inch and then I usually cut 2 of them. He did suggest 1/4 inch for this one and 1/2 inch for the backer board. I also went with both of his suggestions on this plaque. Normally for me, if I am going to mail a plaque I always use 1/4 inch backer board material to keep the cost of shipping down. However I hand delivered this one so I decided on 1/2 inch. It is also BB Ply. I sprayed the backer board with black because I like the high contrast on my plaques so the finer cuts stand out best. I cut the pattern as it downloaded from Steve's site, which is approx. 8 inches. A hint for mailing this type of item … I will often shorten these items to about 7 1/2 inches, it I am going to be mailing them, so they will fit easily in a bubble envelope that is 8 X 10. . I don' t know if you ever use spiral blades but the inside of the chain I cut with a #1 spiral and it helped me to cut the chain in a very short time. I started with the chain and I was done the the inside part in about 15 minutes or less. Hope I answered all you questions. Feel free to ask me about anything, any time. I like to help others whenever I can Dick heppnerguy
  3. I think that would be a great idea and one for your cousin too Dick heppnerguy
  4. I am very proud of my grandson. We got to go to San Diego and visit with him. He liked the plaque but mostly loved the family presents there. It was my wife and I and his mother from Oregon, who came to Arizona, especially so we could all go see him Dick heppnerguy
  5. Those signs are actually a lot of fun to make and after you make a couple more you will find that you can whip one out in just a few minutes. They are extremely popular signs right now. You did a really nice job with yours. Make a couple more and then you will have a really nice gift idea for all your family and friends on Christmas. Everyone loves them Dick heppnerguy
  6. Nice job, Roly. It looks like a true winner for your Christmas decorations. I was eyeing this pattern but decided it used too much wood for my supply and I have a pretty good sized wedding project coming up soon. So maybe another time for me. You did make me rethink my plans a little though Dick heppnerguy
  7. Nice looking pieces. Well cut and finishes.... CHECK MATE Dick heppnerguy
  8. I had never been on a Navy Base before. Things sure are a lot different then when I was in the Army, in 58-60. They have a lot of interesting things to do there and a lot of different places to eat. They even have a beautiful hotel on base for family to stay in while visiting and it looks right out at the ocean. Dick heppnerguy
  9. I think that was pretty close to where we were. It was on an island real close to I-5. The name was something like Coronado. I believe. Dick heppnerguy
  10. San Diego is about 360 miles or so. We just picked up his mother at the airport and we are all excited to go visit her son Joe. Yes the chain is what attracted me to cut this one and not a different one Dick heppnerguy
  11. I was pretty sure that queso was Spanish for cheese but I guess I just do not understand how is works for Steve Good's patterns, or anyones for that matter.. still leaves me a little confused Dick heppnerguy
  12. Ok,,, I know I am not with It so I humbly have to ask What is queso ? Dick heppnerguy
  13. I think we all have cut a few of Steve's patterns. He has helped a lot of us build our interest in scrolling with his many free patterns Dick heppnerguy
  14. No, I just cut it to see if there might be any interest from anyone on my Facebook page. I really have no personal interest in it, myself Dick heppnerguy
  15. Thank you for your service to our nation Dick heppnerguy
  16. Cut it so I can see what it really should look like. Dick heppnerguy
  17. I was wondering about the chain too. But I found out is was not a problem Dick heppnerguy
  18. My Grandson enlisted in the Navy about 4 months ago and is now in San Diego. His mother is coming to Arizona tomorrow and on Friday we are driving there to meet up with him. I decided last evening to cut him a plaque. I looked through several Navy Plaques and decided on this Steve Good pattern. I thought all the chain centers were going to take me a long time to cut but the whole item was less then three hours. That surprised my some, for sure Dick heppnerguy
  19. I am looking for ward to also cutting the owl. On my to do list. Nice job, on yours. Clean cuts. Dick heppnerguy
  20. ha ha ha you people are so sharp.. me....not so sharp. forgot to post my photo. How dumb is that ?? No one needs to answer my question. I already know the answer. Dick heppnerguy
  21. I sure would have loved that. I have never even seen cocobolo wood. Thanks for thinking about me though. Very nice of you Dick
  22. I like to cut Steve Good's patterns and I also support his page , year in and year out, as I do The Scroll Saw Village. I so appreciate all Travis and Steve do for our hobby. This was a quick and easy pattern to cut so I thought it would be fun just to cut it and add it to my shop wall. Dick heppnerguy
  23. That turned out great. Isn't it nice to be a member of this world wide family where others are so willing to share their talents for free? Cutting and posting someone else's pattern, really makes the pattern makers feel good about their help and work . Thanks for sharing and giving credits to the pattern maker. Dick heppnerguy
  24. My daughter had one just like this one. She loved the car and like many of us, wishes she had kept hers. Almost everyone has one car in their lives they wish they still had. Nice piece. I can see why they sell for you Dick heppnerguy
