  1. I like the uniqueness of this piece. We all need to try a new twist on things every once in awhile Dick heppnerguy
  2. I really like the lamp idea too. I think I will have to make one of those.. I will need to show it to my wife first though.......I hope she doesn't want me to crochet the doily instead Dick heppnerguy
  3. Ha ha ha Your wife made me laugh.. Just like a woman to even see the doily on the table.. Dick heppnerguy
  4. Jim, You are the man. I am always amazed by you. I love the little pieces. A nice addition to your table, if you can find the space for them Dick heppnerguy
  5. Kevin, I did not use the proxxon saw because it just won't cut 1/2 ply, for some unknown reason, so I used my DeWalt this time.
  6. you have outdone yourself. This is one nice piece, indeed Dick heppnerguy
  7. no problem guessing this car. It came out quite well. One can get too much detail in a pattern, as Kevin stated, or too little. I think this is about perfect, especially for what it it designed to be. good Job Dick heppnerguy
  8. I have had t his pattern for quite awhile but never got around to cutting it until today. This is a free Sam Custodio pattern. I believe it might be a fun piece for those for the 2nd amendment rights people to have displayed in their houses. I cut this on 1/4 inch BB ply and added an extended backer board that I stained black to bring out the cut lines better. I have found, for me, that staining is way more practical than painting because it covers evenly, stains in about 2 minutes without the need to put a second c.oat on it..it also is a lot cheaper and does not have any odor to deal with. I cut the character with a number one flat end spiral and the rest of it with a number 3 double tooth blade. I am looking forward to cutting another Custodio pattern in the near future I hope this is not seen as a political thing, as i just cut a pattern that I thought was kind of cute. I do not even own a hand gun. I live in a very small out of the way town where people ride horses and kids swim in the reservoir and clean up any clutter they may make. I do not feel I need a handgun. Just having fun with this one. Dick heppnerguy
  9. I tried to cut 1/2 inch BB ply and it would not do it. I do not understand exactly why but it simply would not cut it at all. I guess I will need to use it only for thin material. It also has a habit of the blade breaking at the lower blade grip. Not sure why that happens. Working on a selection for it Dick heppnerguy
  10. I am cheap so I built a cheap one and I have today, that was a big mistake. It really does not do much for me. I do believe that a good one. Is probably a good investment. I too am anxious to read the replies of others. I still have one on my possible list to have a good one Dick hepppnerguy
  11. It all doepends on how much you have to inves in a saw. If you budget only allows about $100 then I think I would recommend the Ryobl. It will take both kind of blades and is verible speed, which is a good thing in a saw. I started with that saw and it served me well. The parts are I not high quality but they are cheap to buy and easy to replace. If you have a $200 budget then I would suggest you go on Craigslist in your area and see if you can find a used better saw like maybe a DeWalt. It has a normal new price of around $600. If your budget is around $800 then the choice is finding the saw the you enjoy using most. You can then have about any saw out there. If that is the case, then I would suggest you go to different tool stores that sell those different saws and sit down for a demonstration and some hands on use. That way you will understand the top end saws and know which y out like best. Dick heppnerguy
  12. I guess that sums it up petty well.. Dick heppnerguy
  13. I too go through way more cans a spray than I want to and I am obviously pretty poor at finishing my projects. I am like Dave, and do not like the cost of finishing. (one of my weaknesses). I hope to find the answer to this problem that will help me too Dick heppnerguy
  14. Bob, I have been going through my patterns and I ran across one of your patterns that I will be tackling pretty soon. I need to be doing more of yours, for sure Dick heppnerguy
  15. I cut this one while the wife watched a movie on TV. It is a Charles Dearing pattern and probably one of his easier ones. I cut it with a #1 flat end spiral blade on my DeWalt. I am planning on making a frame for it sometime later this week. I am pleased with the outcome and I am starting to feel pretty comfortable with my spiral blades now. It is cut on 1/4 inch BB Ply. I see the color is not very true, but I guess everyone probably knows what BB Ply looks like. . Dick heppnerguy
  16. HA HA HA I won't give up my two main saw either.. it is a fun little saw that so far has amazed me Dick heppnerguy
  17. It is vibration free. I was able to place a nickel on edge while it was running and it stayed there just fine... Not sure about your question, Kevin, but I know it does not have a lot of power, for sure. I am going to go cut another piece from 1/4 inch ply and see how it does
  18. very nice pieces. You are inspiring me. I think I too have these patterns and I just might look them up for near future cuttings.. I love your work. Glad you are on board here. Oh, and welcome to The Village Dick heppnerguy
  19. It is just a switch...you could disconnect the wires and put both ends going into the switch together, (perhaps using a jumper type wire) MAKING SURE YOU HAVE IT UNPLUGGED FIRST. and then after connecting the wires together, plug in the saw. if it runs at that point, you know for certain it is the switch, if it does not run, you need to look for a different problem Dick heppnerguy
  20. I too had he same feelings as I cut my first couple of spirals but I have to say that I am glad that I gave it more chances as I am just now beginning to understand that some day I too just might have those dreaded spirit mastered. Who knows. I still can't imagine that I will ever abandon my straight blades. The more versatile one can be, the more successful they can be. I guess that is why scrolling is an ever learning process Dick heppnerguy
  21. One more thing that i realized as I was sawing was how it has no vibration when running I may test that tomorrow and see if I can really determine how vibration free it's really is. Another thing I like about this little saw is the great placement of the on/off switch. Dick heppnerguy
  22. Sounds some great ideas to kick around. I am always short on ideas and I am often amazed how people can have so many ideas come their way. Good luck on your sale. Sounds like a fun place to be too Dick Heppner erguy
  23. Fun to have in your shop even if you never try to cut with it. I great conversation piece Dick heppnerguy
  24. Looks I like you have everything in control. Cuts look perfect. Enjoy your new saw. When you find yourself in a comfort zone you know you can push the envelope and try something that always seemed a little scary. Nice job here Dick heppnerguy
  25. Welcome to the village. My advice would be t o make sure you have the correct blades and remember to let the blade do the cutting. What I mean by that is not to try and force the cut. One thing a lot of new scroller so do is push the material against the side of the blade in an effort to make a turn. One needs to make the blade always go in a straight line by putting the line you are trying to cut right in front. Of the blade. I hope this is not confusin G Dick heppnerguy
