  1. I too am very glad to see that you have found is and decided to become a member of our world wide family. You will understand why I refer to THE VILLAGE as family, nice you have logged on a few times. Though very few of us have met another member, we all have a strong connection with one another that comes from our communications and posts here. You are very welcome here and feel very free to explore everything you can and know you are welcome to any and all the patterns posted I the pattern library Dick heppnerguy
  2. Alexey, I too wish to welcome you to our world wide family of scrollers. I believe that you may be our first person to join us from Russia. I hope that you continue to log on here often and help us all toget to know you better and at the same time you will become familiar with all of us too. Your work is very nicely done and wonderful to view. I hope to see even more of your work in the future. Dick heppnerguy
  3. I like owls too I was going to make a pattern similar to this one, awhile back, but never followed through. Fun to make things that make the wife happy. Way to go Dick heppnerguy
  4. Danny, thank you for your response. I think. I will probably not be using it but I am wanting to hear other reports. I have a lot of respect for Len's opinions, so it makes me a little gun shy at this point Dick heppnerguy
  5. A fabulous piece. Stunning would be a good choice as alone word description here Dick heppnerguy
  6. Dave, a smart recovery. I am not sure that I would have thought to do that. I probably would have just started over with a new one.. This may save me some time in the future. It looks really godd, as others have also commented Dick heppnerguy
  7. I have to say, I don't get it. I would love to see a video on this style of cutting.. Dick heppnerguy
  8. I like your idea, Roly. My wife has a piece of intarsia I did for her, hanging on the wall. I walked up and took a look at it and discovered that i did it in 2007. My how time flies. it looks pretty good too. Maybe I am losing my skills as I age. . It is a great Idea to date things and see how you levels of workmanship compare. I still have the very first wood intarsia piece and I did that one on my band saw. Dick heppnerguy
  9. first time that I have even heard about this ply. Where is it available ? Did you get a chance to cut any yet ? interested to follow this thread Dick heppnerguy
  10. Thank you for all the nice comments. It was an honor to make this for him Dick heppnerguy
  11. You sure do an interesting and unique scroll ideas. Teh are very eye catching and amazing to look at. I know of no one else that have used thins technique before. i love it. maybe some day i will give this a try too. I love all your things a lot Dick heppnerguy
  12. Great piece. I sure enjoy seeing your work. As is stated above, most of us use scroll saws and can't even imagine trying this by hand. My hat is off to you too. Very impressive indeed Dick heppnerguy
  13. I love meeting the people on this site and hope to continue to do so. I have met Travis, Paul, and Ralph, so far and I am hoping to convince Travis into getting together for a BBQ this summer and seeing if we can convince other members to join us too. I feel like I already know a lot of you but I have not had the chance to meet many. I am always looking for an opportunity to do so. I will take some photos this weekend and post them for you all to see.. Unless I break the camera. I am known for that with the mug I carry on my shoulders Dick heppnerguy
  14. Paul, also known as Scrappile and I are planning a day together, this coming Saturday. We are going to attend a carvers show and then go to his house so I can check out his workshop and just hang out together. I am really excited about it Dick heppnerguy
  15. Mahendra is a great pattern maker, in my opinion because not only do they give a really nice finished project but they also are nice to cut, even for people with only a little time at their saw. You did a very nice job here and now have another piece for friends and family to enjoy for a long time to come, Jerry Dick heppnerguy
  16. I made this cross for our priest just because we like to give our priest a little thank you for all the things he does for our parish. We do this on or about Easter every year. It is not much but it just a reminder that we are thankful to have him in our lives Dick heppnerguy
  17. I have a friend who is a full bird Colonel in the Marines and he is retiring the first part of April. So I thought i would make him something. I saw where someone had used the Marine logo and I really liked that idea, so I made myself a pattern and made this item for him as a memento of his wonderful service time for all of us.
  18. Kevin, don't forget about your wrist problems you had a short time again. I remember that you thought. Your scrolling time was over. It is good to see you are back to scrolling again but I want you to not forget how difficult it was for you during that time and be careful not to over do it and have that problem pop up again. Consider pacing yourself and give your wrists the rest they need just because you are feeling great now does not mean everything is perfect with them. It takes a long time to heal your body, some times. So just be careful, my friend and don't get yourself in that situation again Dick heppnerguy
  19. http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00WEV4NPG?psc=1 here is one I found on Amazon. I personally do not use a mask. Dick heppnerguy
  20. Welcome Nathan, I like your posted project. I will have to take a look for the pattern, Not sure I remember seeing it there. If you come back often you will soon discover that this site is full of fun, friendly and caring people who are always happy when someone new is added to our world wide family. So stay in touch, help yourself to as many patterns as you like from our pattern library and please post more of your work as you continue your cutting. Dick heppnerguy
  21. Welcome to THE VILLAGE. We all are glad you have landed here and hope you find it a friendly place to hang out. My wife also has RA and so I can understand how difficult it is to do almost anything. I hope scrolling is a good medium for you. I am sure you probably have to be careful how long of a time you can scroll but what ever time you have with it is good time. I hope you log on often and get to know everyone here as it is a really great group of people here. Dick heppnerguy
  22. Nice tip. I prefer not to use the spiral in my Dewalt for that very reason, too much breakage. I prefer the flat end blades for sure and for the spiral i use my RBI saw. The clamps on it are perfect for the spiral blade as it has a much larger area that is holds the blade with. the only problem is the saw I have uses an Allan wrench to tighten and release the blade but the upside is I usually can use the blade until it is dull and experience very little breakage with it. Dick heppnerguy
  23. Finishing is a big 'crappy part' for me. I love to cut but don't enjoy finishing. I have tried a lot of things but I almost always displeased with my efforts. i am going to try some of the above ideas. took notes and we will see what happens next Dick heppnerguy
  24. Word art of fret cutting, No matter how difficult it may look on the surface or ho many holes there are in the pattern, remember, it is only a 'one hole at a time' thing. and when you get to the last holw you have a nice new piece to enjoy. So, no fret (pun intended). take your time and enjoy the journey. Dick heppnerguy
  25. I am anxious to talk with you about your son and his carrier. Next month we are going to San Diego for a retirement of a Marine Col. Who was also a pilot but he flew C 130's. He also flew for United Airlines and was a pilot instructor for both jobs. These guys are alike in a lot of ways. Dick heppnerguy
