  1. I just want to send a HAPPY VALENTINE'S DAY to every one in our Village family. I have a photo of my wife taken yesterday. Both her and flowers are so beautiful. a bit of honesty now...........my wife and I volunteer every year to deliver flowers for our local florist on Valentines day and Mother's day.. I could not resist the chance to look like I was a hero and bought my wife a dozen roses but the truth is out and I can not tell a lie to all of you.. Dick heppnerguy
  2. I have been very busy in my shop. I do not post most of the things I cut unless they are new for me and not a repeat or I just enjoyed the task. I have made some pieces for Valentine's day and got one more of the longhorn signs cut and I have 4 intersecting name pieces to mail our on Tuesday. somehow the requested thins just seem to come in from nowhere and I have yet to not make my goal for selling things. I have some things to post today and probably tomorrow too. Been a fun year so far. Dick heppnerguy
  3. way to go Kepy. the old washer trick makes the back boards come out perfect every time. i love that technique. You sure did a couple of nice ones here.. Dick heppnerguy
  4. Jim, You have a true master piece here. It is absolutely a beautiful piece. Dick heppnerguy
  5. I researched for this item and of all the ones under $200 there was only one that I would consider and that is the Porter Cable 5 amp belt sander. I was given a combination belt/disc sander from Harbor Freight and after two uses, I gave it back. That one is driven by a useless leather belt and has no power to do much. It also is very noisy. Lowes carries the Porter Cable one that has great reports on it. It seems to have plenty of power and looks to be made very well. For me, I am saving up for that one. Good luck in your quest . Let us know what you decide on. Dick heppnerguy
  6. In regards to the saw in question. I took a look at it from you link. I have never seen the saw in person but what I would be concerned about on this saw is what ever the mechanism is on the left side of the saw. it looks to me like it would become a restriction on large pieces. Other than that, it sure looks good to me Dick heppnerguy
  7. Just now put in another blade order to them. I have been purchasing all my blades from them for years..Good people Dick heppnerguy
  8. Nice plaques. I can see you are a good and careful scroller. Your pieces are very nicely done. Dick heppnerguy

  13. welcome to The Village. It is loaded with friendly people who love new comers and always hope they will become regulars here. I have found this place to be the first place i check out when I get on the computer and I feel like I have made a lot of good friends. The funny part is I have only been able to meet personally with 4 of them. So take your time and look around everywhere. 14. I had a request to do an indoor sign for a woman in town and she wanted it to be a minimum of 24 inches long and 12 inches deep. I quoted her a price, which was really not enough for what she wanted but I was hoping for a little more work from her in the future. It turned out to be a real task for me due to the material being longer than the saw throat. The extra width made it impossible to get a turn on the end parts but somehow I was able to get it done. Then my next fear was that she was going to find fault with it and refuse the item. Tonight she came to the house and picked it up and she gave me $10 more than I had asked her for the piece. On top of that, she ordered 2 more smaller ones to take to her cattle shows to put on the stalls of her entries. I told her the price would be the same as I quoted her in the first place and she was just fine with it. So I have two more sales from that sign. I was sweating it and ended up feeling pretty good. I still do not like custom designs but it seems like I get a lot of them Dick heppnerguy
  15. Paul, This is the natural color, only it is way nicer in reality. I was extremely disappointed with the lack of color in the photo. I will bring you some Alder when I get a chance to come visit with you. Dick heppnerguy
  16. You are quite the pattern maker... I hope to be some day too Dick heppnerguy
  17. nice wooden portrait of two beautiful girls.. love it Dick heppnerguy
  18. nice piece. Nothing is ever as good as the pieces made with love. Yours is all that Dick heppnerguy
  19. my suggestion would be to make the backer board black. You could either stain it or spray paint it. You would find that it would make your piece really stand out. try placing the cross without the backer board on something black and you can see what I am suggesting.. Nice cutting. post when it is finished Dick heppnerguy
  20. tell us a little more about how it works. I might be interested in getting some, if I know more about it Dick heppnerguy
  21. i thought i would do this one a little differently. I usually use a white wood with a black backer board for these but this time I decided to try some of my Alder instead. I really like the way it turned out but the photo does not bring out the richness that ended up making it a favorite for me. I thought i would post it anyway Dick heppnerguy
  22. I like this one better than a frame. but then it looks like I am not with the majority, but then, as you know, I am a little weird. OK a lot weird. I think this is fabulous Dick heppnerguy
  23. I had a customer who purchased a piece from me for a Christmas present and needed something for her grand daughter who is finishing her 1st year of basketball and after several conversations I was able to make her a plaque that she liked. I had 2 days to cut and finish it so that I could get it to her before the girls last game on Saturday. I went to Steve Goods site for ideas and ended up combining a couple of his to come up with what she wanted. I hope she is happy, I made it out of Alder, but next time I will not make it so thick. I thought it might be a little nicer that way but found that I think it would have be better had I used 1/2 inch maximum thickness. It made it more difficult to cut and the small blade i needed for the number on the jersey was a little nerve racking. i thought I would try a spiral but it wouldn't touch the alder so I had to use a #2 double tooth blade instead. Dick heppnerguy
  24. The Wooden Teddy Bear is located in the Portland, Oregon area so I started using them when I first found heard about them. They have always done a great job for me too. Being an Oregonian, I always try to support people in our area, unless they prove to not be doing a good job. So far, I have not had any problems with any I have used Dick heppnerguy
  25. Congratulations to a wonderful looking couple. My wife and I are only a few months ahead of you two so we understand where you are coming from. It is so nice that our generation took such a serious meaning in our vows.I am beginning to think there are more 50 + anniversaries than there are 10 year ones, now days, i think that says a lot in itself. Just keep on keeping on with what you are doing. And also a big congratulations to Stoney and his wife too. Dick heppnerguy
