  1. Steve Good has a key chain program on his page...www.scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com that you can make key chains with the person's name and it has no 'hang ups' that will catch on anything either. Dick heppnerguy
  2. some good answers here, but probably none that really answer your question because as you should realize by now, there are too many variables that make it impossible to really answer your question. Try different blades like a little larger blade with less teeth per inch and see how that works for you. I have never cut MDF because of all the warnings about it, that I have read in many places. So for this one, you are on your own my friend, and have come up with an unanswerable question. Only surmises and guesses for this one. Dick heppnerguy
  3. nice to hear of your success. Now go take a deserved rest and you have earned the right to relax and stay out of your shop for awhile. WAIT!!! The shop is where a scroller works long hours and is regretful when they have to shut down the saw and go to bed. That kind of long day IS a day of relaxing... OUT TO YOUR SHOP.. WHAT ARE YOU DOING ON YOUR COMPUTER ??? Dick heppnerguy
  4. nicely said, Montserrat, I agree completely. Is pretty indeed Dick heppnerguy
  5. Glad to hear of your great success. Not a lot of room for all you have to display but more room came available as people carted away their new purchased items from your table. One always feels good when things move even better than anticipated. Now you have to rattle the boards and get out those additional orders. Dick heppnerguy
  6. You got that one down perfect. You know that because she ordered another one. The price was right where she needed it to be. Nice little bed Dick heppnerguy
  7. Wow. You are really a slow cutter, Marge. I think I could have cut it in only three months Dick heppnerguy
  8. Nice job. Your work is amazing for a new scroller. I will continue to watch for future projects of yours Dick heppnerguy
  9. I believe that it is not an Allen wrench but that it is a torx Dick Heppnerguy
  10. I am a flat blade guy too but recently I was doing a piece that just cried for a spiral so I held my breath grabbed the spiral and began to give it a try once again. This time I found it worked better than they had before. I found the faster my saw ran the better the spirals cut. As for detail, all I have to say about that is take a look at scrapiles posts or find some of Hans work. Things do not get much more detailed than theirs. Spiral blades are their blades of choice. One can learn to use about any type blade, if they take the time to try, but most of us find a blade that fits for us personally and once we do, we usually do not stray far away from it. That is why there are so many different blades to choose from no one blade is best for everyone. My take on it. Dick heppnerguy

  12. Welcome to our world wide family of strollers. I would be happy to give you some tips but your talents way pass mine, so I will just sit back and see what you do with your scroll saw. It is obviousness to me that you are very talented and maticulous with the things you do. The one thing you will learn quickly, providing that you log on here on a regular basis, and that being you are now amount aa lot of fun loving and sharing people. We welcome all new people to our community and once you get to know the people here it will be difficult not to log on daily and check on the activities of your new found family. It is easy to see that spending a weekend with you would truly be a learning experience for me. I enjoyed all the posts of your work and I had to show it to my wife, ( of 54 years) , she really enjoyed you filing cabinets and your stained glass door. All I can say is, explore , explore ,explore. There is a lot to find hiding throughout The Village and it is just waiting for you to discover. Be sure and check out Travis's wonder university part of the 'forum' Dick heppnerguy

If you log on often and get to know the 'regulars' , it will soon be difficult not to want to log on and see what everyone has been up to. on a daily basis. if you do not have a lot of friends. it won't take long to understand that you have a lot of friends here in The Village, Dick heppnerguy
  14. Welcome. i am unable to answer your questions on the wood as i use only common local woods. But I am glad that you have discovered the fun of scrolling. Maybe a less dense wood would be a good place to hone your skills. It sounds like you are rather ambitious and not afraid to try most anything.. Good luck, Hang out here and someone will most likely know about the woods you are asking about here. Dick heppnerguy
  15. You have indeed been living at your saw for awhile, lately. Nice presents, not something one would find at Wal Mart, that is for sure. Personal, homemade gifts are treasures from the start Dick heppnerguy
  16. great job cutting wooden portraits of a couple of really cute kids.. I like the welder sign really well too Dick heppnerguy
  17. Kepy, All you need to do is get the spelling of the last name changed.. problem solved Dick heppnerguy
  18. Great sign. the pattern ins a winner as well as the great job you did cutting and finishing it.. Dick heppnerguy
  19. I agree with everyone else.. It is an amazingly colorful and well designed and cut piece. I too, like it a lot Dick heppnerguy
  20. Nice piece, Helmut. Is that your own pattern? It is very attractive. Dick heppnerguy
  21. when I first started doing intarsia, i did a craft show and sold $175. I had a lot of nice comments on my work but the sales was not worth the effort for me. i have found that people at the craft shows seem to be looking for things, mostly under $30. Intarsia doesn't work very well in that category, but that is where scrolling does because the cost of scrolling most items is very little, also including the time involved. if you can go away from a craft show happy, Then it was worth the time and effort. Received a nice picture for your wall though. Good trade for both Dick heppnerguy
  22. I too just buy new blades when i need them as mentioned above, the cost to sharpen them is close to the replacement costs.. so for me, why sharpen ? Dick heppnerguy
  23. I like this post.. I have found that I find the ultimate blade for me and then just when I am happy with it, I end up using something different, Maybe to speed up or to slow down the aggressiveness of my blade. so after several years of scrolling, I find I am still experimenting with my blades.. What the heck? I must be the slowest learner on this planet. Oh, well, I am having fun and that is the very most important part for me.. and I am selling more than the amount I want to, without even trying. Dick heppnerguy
  24. Edward, after a couple of 'not so good' shows, you have hit the jack pot and people are noticing your nice work. Perseverance pays off. Happy for you Dick heppnerguy
