  1. I saw your article in the magazine. Too ambitious for me.. I do not think that I could stay that dedicated to finish a task like this one. You are the man. It had to be worth it when you made your granddaughter and yourself happy when you received such a nice write up in the magazine as well as in your local newspaper. great job of work and perseverance Dick heppnerguy
  2. Things are coming together nicely. I almost missed your latest post and was getting ready to move the the next forum section when I spotted it and wanted to go and check out your progress. One question though, do you have another door, other than the over head door ? Just curious.. Dick heppnerguy
  3. I like the added ribbons to the piece. Adds a lot of color and interest to it. I would have never thought to do something like that but I probably will do something like it in the near future.. Great piece Dick heppnerguy
  4. I call them SOB's because they are the things that make all those nasty 'frizzies", I have to work to get rid of when I am finished cutting all of them our Dick heppnerguy
  5. 26 intarsia pieces ? That was a great show....congratulations. Dick heppnerguy
  6. The hat gives it away....what about the reindeer? Dick heppnerguy
  7. Welcome, glad to see you found us and so soon after you started your new hobby. Take it slow and easy because there are not only a lot of patterns to cut but they grow daily and you just can't catch up on all of them. Sort of like trying to get to the end of the internet. Besides if you were to reach the end of the pattern sources what would you do then? Glad you found us now come back often. I promise there are a few sane people here too Dick heppnerguy
  8. Welcome James. I live in Oregon not very far from Scrappile. We all hope that you take the time to join in with us as we stay n touch with one another here in The Village. Once you log on enough to get to know us. we are very difficult to stay away from Dick heppnerguy
  9. I too wish to chime in with a big welcome to you, Said. I do hope you log on often and spend some of your spare time just browsing evrything that is offered here in The Village. We are a friendly bunch of people and love to help each other in any way we can Dick heppnerguy
  10. I have had my DeWalt for over ten years and I love my machine. Is it the best ? Perhaps not. Is it better than most of the machines out there? probably. I think it is the best machine for the money and I am very happy with mine. I also own a Hawk, but I am most at home with my DeWalt. So there you have my view point. I would suggest looking on Craigslist as there are often good saws that are hardly used at a good savings Dick heppnerguy
  11. Hi Jeff. I was going to suggest the same thing to you as did Ward. It sounds like just the key for you. The main thing for you to get are the right blades. If you are using some purchased at a big box store, they are not what you want to be using... go to www.woodenteddybear.com. this is one place to get the correct blades there are many other places too, but this is the one that I use. Dick heppnerguy
  12. Welcome to our world wide family. Another person from Germany is always welcome here. I hope you are around for a long time. I will send you a personal message that you will find ready for you in the upper right part of the home screen. I hope you enjoy scrolling, as it is a really fun thing to do Dick heppnerguy
  13. well, gang, I have been working on some intarsia family Christmas presents and I have completed 2 of them so far. These are repeats of items that I have posted previously so i will not be posting those again. I still have 2 more to make and then I will have to see if anyone else is interested in some wood working from me. While waiting for the finishes to set, I could not stand not being in my shop so I decided to make this ornament and stand that is from Steve Good's site. My wife really likes it so I am happy. i plan on posting these on my page to sell. With Christmas just around the corner, I hope some people like it. I made this one out of Cherry wood. Dick heppnerguy
  14. Coming along swell. Be sure and insulate the ceiling too. Keep the warm temperatures in the shop in the winter and out in the summer. It will be a really nice place to do your work Dick heppnerguy
  15. Sparky, Be careful there, I read where that is not a good idea as it puts too much pressure on the bearing and it is a lot easier to lift the arm and place a short 2 X 4 under it for a couple of seconds that to have to replace the bearing ... Dick heppnerguy
  16. Mostly, I use the saw tooth hangers and if the depth of the piece is too shallow for nails or screw, i too us super glue. sets up in minutes and it only takes two very small drops of glue to do the job Dick heppnerguy
  17. Welcome aboard. Glad you joined us. Hope you decide to log on in a regular manner. You work it very nice and you have done yourself well in only 5 years. I too made one of those wine boxes. It was a fun project for me too. Take a look at our pattern selection, all of them are free for you to download and cut. I hope to see your log on numbers grow quickly because that must mean you like us here. We are a friendly bunch too Dick heppnerguy
  18. hello Linda, Welcome, once more to The Village and start with the easy looking patterns and slowly work up to more challenging ones as you begin to be comfortable with your saw. Log on often so we can get to know you and you us and ask questions, we all learn from one another Dick heppnerguy
  19. Hello Steve, It looks like I am in the minority here, as I live in The States. You will find a lot of friendly and helpful people here in The Village and if you log on often, it will only take a short time and even if you were to break your scroll saw, you would probably log on here daily, just to keep in touch with your new found family. Take you time checking out all the nooks and crannies because there are so many things here in The Village that you will find that you are stumbling on things a year from now that some how slipped your previous searches. Start simple, find out about the right blades and wood to use and where to get them, because it will help you achieve what otherwise may seem impossible with the incorrect items. We are all glad to welcome you and hope to see you hanging out here, really soon Dick' heppnerguy
  20. You did a reAlly fine job. Being Airborne is something those who are or have been a paratrooper share their pride and brotherhood. I know. Because I too was a paratrooper and still getting together with fellow members after more than 55 years. This piece will be cherished and handed down through the family members, I feel sure Dick heppnerguy
  21. Nice sign. A great gift but I saw someplace it is not one you wNt to sell because of copy-rite laws Dick heppnerguy
  22. A sanding pad and an Awl Are a couple of my most used extras Dick Heppnerguy
  23. fun projects. They will make nice decorations or craft show sellers Dick heppnerguy
  24. My go to blade is the #3 double tooth/ reverse. It is not too aggressive so it is easy to stay on the line for me, no matter how small or curvy the pattern Dick heppnerguy
  25. Where did you purchase it? Dick heppnerguy
