  1. Nice work. I especially like your bowl. Did you glue the woods together before you cut the pattern? Your idea and skill are perfect Dick Heppnerguy
  2. Another creative and fun new idea. This kind of thing always makes coming to The Village a fun event Dick heppnerguy
  3. Keith, Cute item. Your neighbor will surely treasure this one for along time until they decide that their daughter should take possession of it for her own Dick heppnerguy
  4. Paul, There you go again, continuing to do out standing work. You once more got me shaking my head in disbelieve Dick heppnerguy
  5. I have been thinking about getting my wife to paint some bird houses that I am thinking about making. I like the idea of the team work. Thanks for the enthusiasm you have greater here Dick heppnerguy
  6. Hi Joe Glad you found us and I hope you are quick to ask any questions you may have. We all are here to help and not to criticize non of us forgot that we all started just like you are. No artist starts as a Rembrant and no scroller starts out an expert. Stay at it, don't rush into things too fast and above all, keep it fu Dick heppnerguy
  7. I have fought to obtain the smooth finish on my work but it seemed no matter what I tried I still had problem. I used light coats and several layers but I still do not obtain the results I am after. I bought 350 grit sand paper and I even waxed to try to get what I was after and then one day. I was looking in the auto section of Wal Mart and I saw 500 grit sand paper so I bought some and that worked. It gives me the smooth finish I have been after but does not leave any saw dust on my product when I use it. I also bought some 1000 grit bt found it was too fine and did not work as we'll. if you are having the same problem I was. Give this a try Dick heppnerguy
  8. I appreciate all the encouragement here. I can make patterns, pretty well. IF I can just imagine that something would make a good pattern.. That is the part that stumps me..who knows, like a couple of you have said here, the moment just might come to me and then we will see what happens. Dick heppnerguy
  9. My daughter told me a friend if hers that owns a Vette and another American muscle car. She was wanting a Vette plaque. I went to our Transportation pattern designs and found exactly the one that I liked so I downloaded and cut it for her. It was an easy cut and gave me the results that I was after. I like it when I get a request that I can put together and deliver within a couple of hours. This one was a simple plaque that had no frame. I thought this was an idea that I liked for a car plaque. Dick heppnerguy
  10. We'll I am pleased to say that the lady came to pick it up and she said with a smile," I love it !" Made me happy. I really did not like the simulated frame very much. Too wide for my liking. Dick heppnerguy
  11. way to go.. your pattern is pleasing to the eye and attractive. Your work here, is really nice and the fact that you made it for your wife, is the biggest plus you can get for any effort. I love giving my work as gifts and my bride is my favorite person of all to give to Dick heppnerguy
  12. Joel. I too made this pattern. It is a nice Steve Good pattern that cuts to a nice end result as you demonstrate here. there certainly is nothing wrong with it at all. I still enjoy the one I made. The secret to successful scrolling is to not get into a pattern that is way above your abilities but push your envelope when you find that the patterns you are cutting are easy for you to do. That is my take on scrolling, anyway Dick heppnerguy
  13. i give pattern making a shot every now and then. My biggest problem is that I just do not have the imagination for pattern making. I have come to realize that everything can be a pattern but it still does not help as when I see a new pattern I just say to myself, "why did I not see that as a possible pattern?" Glad that some have that talent here and are so generous with them. Dick heppnerguy
  14. Thank you. I will be sure and give you credit for the pattern if I sell any Dick heppnerguy
  15. Thanks everyone for the encouragement. I talked with the gal on the phone this morning and she is going to stop by the house on Thursday afternoon, that will be on Late Friday morning for you, Marg and see if it is something she is interested in. I'll let you all know what she says. Personally I am expecting that she. Will reject it. I think this will be the last custom order I will bother with. Dick Heppnerguy
  16. josh, Give this a try. Place a piece of white paper on your saw table and remove your blade. Aligning the paper and the slot where the blade goes ( this will help you observe better the next part). Ok now look into the slot where the blade goes to be tightened and observe the location of the screw that is opposite the thumb screw. You should see the set screw being located almost in the middle of the slot. If you can barely see it you need to turn it clockwise to move it into the right position. The tool needed to do this is a torx driver #20, I believe. This should do the job, in my oppinion Dick heppnerguy
  17. both are good renditions but the more detail, the more eye catching it is..your cutting skills are shown in both Dick heppnerguy
  18. I have to agree with you. I think 3/4 inch, as suggested, is often too thick to make it a great piece. Good job, better get busy and start making more while the market is good for them Dick heppneguy
  19. Things do not need to be complex to be outstanding. If it is selling well for you, then there are others who see it as I do. Very nice pattern that says more than the words Dick heppnerguy
  20. That turned our great. your wood choices are perfect and your workmanship is outstanding Dick heppnerguy
  21. Your usual good work shows here again on all of them as well as another example of your gifted imagination Dick heppnerguy
  22. Homer, You have a fun imagination.. Never know what you are going to do next. As you already know, my imagination is almost non existent. a fun and original project. I like it Dick heppnerguy
  23. I mail things all the time and I have only had one really delicate piece where there was a small breakage. I don't think you will need to worry about these. they should make it just fine Dick heppnerguy
  24. It amazes me how much EVERYONE loves their name cut in wood. I bet I have given close to one hundred of them away and they are all met with oohs and awhs.. I like the font you chose for this one too Dick heppnerguy
