  1. The 'washer trick' makes it stand out. Nicely cut and finished. It is no wonder the wife claimed the first one Dick heppnerguy
  2. I was at the post office last week where I delivered a plaque I made to give to a local mail carrier and she showed it to everyone who walked in, while I was getting my mail out of my mail box. ( we have elected to have a post office box instead of having our mail delivered to our house) While I was getting into my car a lady that lives in a community located in the mountains, outside of town, stopped me and told me she wanted me to make a sign for her. I finished it today and I tried to keep the mountain theme within the sign. I have to spray a couple of layers of finish on it and put the hanger on it too but anyway. this was what I came up with.. I hope she likes it. I wlll let you all know if she decided to reject it. Dick heppnerguy
  3. I have been buying most of my blades from Wooden Teddy Bear for several years and have been happy in the past.. 5 cents a dozen isn't going to break my budget, I hope Dick heppnerguy
  4. I saw an alligator in Florida but the gator was pulling a man into the water, or maybe the man was pushing the gator with a rope, not really sure now, been too long ago Dick heppnerguy
  5. welcome, Paul. As you have no doubt already discovered, we have several people in the Village that live in the UK and all over Europe, along with Australia and the USA and many other parts of the globe. It is sort of a world wide family of very friendly and helpful people that love to share their talents with everyone else here. Take time to explore the entire sight and post comments on other parts of the forum as well. Sit back, take off your shoes and put your feet up and.......wait a minute..better put your shoes back on again...I will wait while you do that............................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................................thank you.. ( you seem a little slow tying your shoes ). Just enjoy yourself.. Welcome aboard.. watch out though because there seems to be some jokers around here too so don't get caught up in their capers.. Dick heppnerguy
  6. Lazza, do you happen to have a photo of it ? That might help if you do Dick heppnerguy
  7. I like the pregnancy one the best.. would it be OK with you if i make a pattern from your piece ?..I think people would love to have one of those, as they certainly like to show their pregnancy scans on Facebook Dick heppnerguy
  8. I got an email from a person in Portland asking me to make 25 12 X 8 inch crosses that her church will be giving away to new visitors. Said she needed them before this Sunday. I cut them individually because it was difficult to stack cut do to the large size board I needed to use. I had some 12 X 12 but needed to invert one of them so that I did not waist too much wood doing them. After I was all done, it finally dawned on me that I just needed to print 2 patterns and put them on the board and then cut them..i can't believe I was to dumb. Oh, goodness, Kevin, that is not the part that made me feel like you,,,,It was the multi order that I got and it seems like you get a lot of multi orders; I have never seen or heard of you doing the dumb thing like i did. ( am I ever glad I caught this terrible implication before I posted this). Dick heppnerguy
  9. Very well done, Gordie, Keep up the good work and the posting so all of us can enjoy them.. Dick heppnerguy
  10. Always good to see someone venturing into intarsia. It seems a lot of people are a little afraid of it, although I am not sure why. Can't wait to see what you come up with Dick heppnerguy
  11. I love ideas that come from the people here. You never know when a new one will come along.. Great idea.. Dick heppnerguy
  12. I have some #12 blades for thicker items, but so far I have not used any of them to see how well they do . i purchased them just for this kind of thing Dick heppnerguy
  13. thank you all. I love Mahendra's patterns.. he is a good friend of mine here in The Village too. but I am after a pattern that is more simple because it is to be part of a sign. I will keep looking. If anyone finds something they think might fill my need I am still open for other suggestions.. You people are the greatest Dick heppnerguy
  14. I like to cut an 1/8 inch thick ply and paint it what ever contrasting color i am interested in for my boxes and then I glue them onto the side of the box. i usually do not put one on the bottom of my boxes but one could if the choose to. I have never been a fan of colored felt because the the wrinkling factor involved with it, especially when it has a lot of fret cuts like this box you made..nice box by the way Dick heppnerguy
  15. I know that I have seen several cabin patterns. I can not for the life of me, not find one. If any of you can help direct me to one or two, I would appreciate it a lot. Been busy in my shop and I have several projects going.. I have not had much computer time since my return from DC but hope to get back here more often, really soon. I miss my family of friends here, a lot . I feel really out of the loop Dick heppnerguy
  16. I love cartoon characters. These are. Very nicely done. Makes me wNt to make. Some more characters too Dick heppnerguy
  17. From my understanding, a sealer on the plywood is the answer to the blochy problem. Although I do not so that myself I know I am taking a chance when I do not. Once in awhile,I too have run into this problem. I know better but I am stubborn and take unnecessary risks. Don't be a fool like me. Do what you know it right Dick heppnerguy
  18. Sorry for the above post. I tried to remove it when I realized my mistake but could not do so..Darn I am getting too old , I guess Dick heppnerguy
  19. I ran across this post in another web sight and I obtained permission to post it here. I found it very informative, I hope it helps others. I will make a new post with it so others not reading this thread might see it too Dick heppnerguy
  20. I like them a lot. They certainly catch ones attention right away Dick heppnerguy
  21. I too want to get in on the welcoming of you to our huge family of friendly and giving people. We love it when new people drop in and find out that we are here with welcoming arms. Everyone here love to share their talents, time and ideas with one another. So be sure and feel free to explore everything, post the things you have made and comment on the things you see here. Taking your time to do these things will help all of us to get acquainted with you and you with us. It does not take long to know you are among friends here. Dick Heppnerguy
  22. A cool gift idea that has that personal and original touch.. Should be loved be the receivers of these for many years to come.. I like everything about them Dick heppnerguy
  23. Here is a small example of the kind of people that are members of The Village. The members here are not only talented but more than that, they are giving and share their talents with many others. One of the the great things about scrolling is the material cost is not high but the results of the labor are attractive and fun to give to others. Dick heppnerguy
  24. I do not have any allergies so this is not a problem for me but, for years I used blue painters tape and the large glue sticks so it covers a large area quickly. I glue the paper pattern and if there is a lot of fret work involved, I sometime would also put a coat of glue stick to the tape surface too. after I stuck the pattern to the taped wood, I would use a rag to wipe off any glue that might be beyond the pattern paper. It has worked well for me for years but not I use spray glue because I found it even easier to remove the pattern paper after the cutting it finished. I prefer the glue that Harbor Freight sells because it comes in a large container and is under $10 a can. I have tried several other spray glues and I like this one the best too. it is made be CRC, which is an American company that has been around for a long time. I do not know if it effects people with allergies because I am the only one in my shop and as I stated above, I have no allergies. Dick heppnerguy
  25. I believe that not only do some of the people contribute to the 'ornaments for charity' here in The Village" but many of us contribute some of our work as gifts to non profit organizations on an individual basis. It is a fun thing to help people raise money for a good cause that really helps them with their fund raisers while making a contribution that cost us mainly our time and little money..
