  2. I too received mine a last week,.you got a nicely done piece on your organization. I wish they would have put it in the ront part of the magazine though. Dick heppnerguy
  3. I found a long time ago, that making and using larger thumb screws to get the blade to tighten better, Is a very bad idea. I agree with Roly that it will quickly lead to replacing the thumb screws and the brackeet itself. Way better to just sand the blades before you insert the blade and only use your fingers to tighten the blade with only the manufactures thumb screw that is my take on this Dick heppnerguy
  4. Great Job, A tip of the hat to you...worth the long hours for sure Dick heppnerguy
  5. absolutely a beautiful and very well done box. Was so nice to be able to see it. Thank you for posting it Dick heppnerguy
  6. Ralph, I wish you could have been at the sale too, just not before me.. I could not believe what I fell into....There really was nothing else I was interested, except there was a metal lock box with no availabe key and there was something in it and it had a $2 price tag on it. I can't believe I didn't get i. Who knows what could have been in it ?
  7. Reading for the Christmas rush with a few really good items to feast the buyers eyes on Great ideas Dick heppnerguy
  8. I showed this pattern to my bride and she was really taken by it. I would have never cut this one on my own. I just used 1/4 BB and it was an easy one to cut. She had it on the wall and had this display on it within 10 minutes of when I gave her the finished project. Dick heppnerguy
  9. Is that magazine on the market right now ? Dick heppnerguy
  10. when I bought my new saw at the estate sale there was a brand new footpedal sitting in the shop area so I decided, "what the heck, even though I am really slow to adapt to suggestions on many things, I decided that for $2, if I ever did decide to try one, I know have one. It was brand new and never appeared to ever be used as it still the packaging things on it. He ended up not even charging me for the item, so it was free to me Dick heppneguy
  11. It is a varible speed. I just looked on line and parts do not appear to be a problem.. Dick heppnerguy
  12. Originality is always a surprise to see and make the rusty gears in my head turn once more.. I like your clock idea a lot.. fun piece Dick heppnerguy
  13. that sure is a cute piece. I bet it will be remembered from Christmas to Christmas and everyone will anticipate the opening of the annual decorations just to have another look at it. Dick heppnerguy
  14. Although I have made a few intarsia pieces, I still struggle with the glueing and finishing part. Because I still have not been able to figure all this out, I would much rather cut scroll pieces, but my family really likes the intarsia, so I try to make them what they want. Keep all this in mind as you view my giraffe intarsia that I cut from a Judy Roberts pattern. My cuttings went together really nice and tight until I started gluing them. Thankfully, my family does not see the wonderful pieces that Lee and Homer Bishop do and several other talente members that dwelve into intarsia, so they have no one else to compare my work with and they all think that I know what I am doing, so shhhhh. don't tell them and I can continue to make them pieces that they think are really nice. We will just keep it our secret, here in The Village, I know the photo is not very good but it is what it is, sorry about that Dick heppnerguy
  15. OK so here is a couple of photos of my saw . I have yet to set it up but I will in time. in the middle photo you can see the price tag still on the saw. So there you go Dick heppnerguy
  16. I know that feeling from meeting our illustrious, Travis, last month. I have been trying to meet up with Ralph but so far it has not happened but it will soon, I am sure of that. Maybe next summer I can convince Travis to have a BBQ/picnic gathering of anyone that might be close enough to join us I think it is great to mee the people you see on The Village, There are a few in the North West so who knows what the outcome might be? My house is always open for anyone that might like to come to Heppner and spend time with us. Dick heppnerguy
  17. Not sure why you want a photo of it, as i would never try to kid you, so tomorrow I will post a photo of it just to make a beleiver out of you
  18. I was in Portland for a wedding and stopped at an estate sale and I found a Hawk RBI scrollsaw. It looks really nice and the price was only $65. How was that for a super score?

  20. I have had those terrible adware pop ups a couple of times. I am always so glad to get them off my computer. Be careful whenever you download something and always use the 'advanced' options when you DL. then you can opt out of the unwanted things that come with so many of the download things. You might want to restore to a date that was working without all the pop ups and that might help to eliminate them Dick heppnerguy
  21. Very nicely done. i am not a sport fan at all but I am a scroller fan and you I am a fan of your scroll piece. Dick heppnerguy
  22. Welcome to one of the funnest sites on the web where everyone feels like they are know each other, personally, even though most have not even met another member. My suggestions to a new scroller is 1. If you do not already have a saw be sure that the one you do buy will accept ono pinned blades because as you get into scrolling, you will quickly realize that pinned blades can restrict the pattern you can cut. 2. Find out about the blades you should use. They are easy to find on line and anyone can direct you to several places to buy them. 3. Try what looks like a simple pattern so you do not get discouraged right off as scrolling is not difficult but if you pick up a paint brush for the first time and try to paint a picture, no matter how hard you try, you will not be a Rembrant 4. you need to learn to let the blade do the cutting and not to try to force it to the left of right as you cut. 5. Having a blade or a few blades break,is part of scrolling, don't let that discourage you either, 6. The life of a scrollsaw blade is very limited. One half hours cutting 3/4 inch hard wood is about all your should expect out of a blade. Trying to make the blade last a long time onlycauses he blade to wonder or burn your wood.. change it when you notice your are pushing against the blade to make it cut 7. No one will probably notice if you went off the line in a pattern, even a few times 8. Look at the tutorials in the Scroll Saw Village University on the 'Forum", just scroll down...you will be glad you took the time to watch them Thanks from coming on board and come back often . we would all like to get to know you better Dick heppnerguy
  23. Brian, You can download the pattern here www.facebool.com/pages/Maket-yapini You have to scroll down several pages to find this one.. he also has a couple of other Eiffel Towers that are easier to cut but i preferred the one I did. Keep in mind that there are no instructions and lots of surprises when you do cut it.. If you do decide to give it a whirl, PM me and I can point out to you some of the things that will help you from stumbling into the same errors that I made on mine.. Dick heppnerguy
  24. Oh good,, I am glad that others like it too. since I found the idea of using a pencil and a small washer to enhance the backerboard, I have used it several of my pieces.. the question came to me abour asking others if they agree or disagree. One thing I have found out with scrolling is that often a person likes something that I would not even think about scrolling and it ends up being a seller right away. so now, I find that just because I like something, does not mean someone else will too.. thanks for the kind comments Dick heppnerguy
  25. Thanks Marg for the nice compliment from you. A couple of years ago, my wife and I had the opportunity to go to Paris and the Eiffle Tower was the one thing I really wanted to see in person, as everyone who goes there, does. There were so many people that we choose not to go up the tower. I imagined the bottom of the tower to be at least 3 times bigger than it was but I fell in love with it immediately and I have made several compound cut Towers and when i saw the one Han's posted that he made, I HAD to give it a try. Glad you like it. Dick heppnerguy
