  1. Hi Paul, Welcome As you can already tell by the above posts, everyone here on The village is friendly and hopes you come back often so we can get to know you and you to know us. There is a lot to explore here on this web sight, so look around, get comfortable and return often. Any questions are welcomed. You will never be disappointed that you asked. Dick (heppnerguy
  2. Hi Fay, Hey my wife was born in Port Townsend, not too far away from where you live. Hint;..blades need to be replaced about every half hour of use. I am personally not familiar with your saw, but the most important thing to learn when you start scrolling is don't use blade from the big box stores, like Home Depot and Lowes. there are many blades out there that are way better and add a lot of pleasure to your cutting experience. Nice to have you on board here with us. This is a great place to show post pictures of your work to share with us all. We love seeing other peoples work and sharing our own. If you have any questions, please ask. Come back often, you will see that there are many talented and friendly people here in The Village. WELCOME
  3. Hi Daniel, Be sure and come back often. We have many patterns for you to try, here on the Village but best of all, this place is full of a lot of wonderful people who make up our large, world wide family and we welcome you to become an active member and hope to see you here a lot, If you ever have a question, just shot away. We all were here new at one point and struggled a little to understand how this all works. No question will go unanswered.
  4. Luis, you do a great job cutting your pieces A pleasure to see the pride in your work..
  5. another lesson for me in the importance of choosing the right wood for your project
  6. I agree....consider OSB. I will redo my shop and get rid of the sheetrock on my walls, probably early this winter. I like the idea of putting a nail where ever I need it and not have to contend with where the studs are located. This has been my plan for some time and it is going to happen this winter.
  7. This shows me that I need to spend a little more of my money on wood. I work with what I have on hand. I can cut the pieces OK but without quality wood, it will never achieve the great look of that your's have. Thanks for the lesson today. very nice piece
  8. one picture tells a large story...very enjoyable....love it
  9. very good. I need to learn how to make frames too..I wish I had your talent
  10. I just got through making some house numbers and my customer downloaded some to me that they wanted. I hope I can get it uploaded for you to look at. oops not sure how to get an attachment here..I'll see if I can find your email address and try that way
  11. Hi Lorn, A big WELCOME to you from all of us here in the Village. Very glad to have you on board. I can only speak for myself, but I do not understand much about the shop you are putting together and I, for one, would love to see a photo of it, if you could post one for us. I am looking forward to getting to know you through your comments and posts of some of your work. Make sure to visit us often so you can get to know everyone here. We cherish your time here with us all.
  12. So far that makes David our senior scroller here..I am anxious to see is anyone can beat that...
  13. I wanted to make everyone breakfast today here on the Village but when I got up and checked my computer, coffee and tea was already served and finished by most. I guess that is the troubl with living on the west coast of the USA. Everyone else has a jump start on me. I even got up earlier to try and make it happen. I tell you. I was up at the crack of noon....
  14. Well, congratulations. Grandkids are fun. I love ours. We have 12 grandchildren and 3 great granddaughters. I made the stork intarsia pattern that Judy Gale Roberts has on her websight for one of them. I like the little girl putting on her boots too. there are many wonderful teddy bears. and cartoon characters that will both brighten the baby's room and stay in her life forever. Have fun with this. Your work will warnm that little heart and fill her with many wonderful memories of her grampa.
  15. pretty ambitious. I have never worried about the fumes..I just spray away. Maybe I should consider something like this. thanks for sharing. I like your wood portrait too. Good job.
  16. Welcome about The Village where a, previous unknown to you, large family of skilled, and not so skilled member meet regularily and share their work and knowledge with each other. uploading is easy here all you have to do is click on the upload button located on the upper right side of the gallery/pattern area that opens when you click on that tab on the home page and the you will be walded through the rest. If yo have any problems just ask and you will probably overwhelmed with people who are anxious to help in any way they can. There is a great pattern tutorial area here too, check that out. come here often and you will find it will reward your life and scrolling fun a lot.
  17. Hi Katie, I was on Free4all only a short time before it closed. I met you there and commented on your woodshop teaching role. You do nice work, have an obvious nice mannerism and I too want to welcome you here and hope you find this as your home and family. we all like to share, compare and with Sully on board too, you know you will be snickering a lot too, while you are here. Glad to have you on board.
  18. Nice portrait, Don. I love the focus that Mahhendra has on the native American. they make really nice portraits of the Original Americans
  19. I don't know that much about construction but it appears that Lucky2 does. I would consider his ideas if it were me doing the job. He sounds educated in the matter
  20. I love this...keep the replies coming. I myself, am a rookie with a little over 2 years scrolling and been working intarsia since 2007.
  21. Dan, I agree with you... if you can use the already installed furnace, I don't think there is any reason to invest in anything else. sounds perfect to me... go for it.. good luck
  22. going to continue to be a little on the warm side here too Roly. should be int he high 90's again. got my put browning grass to green up again after a fertilization and watering focus yesterday. The temps have been in 90's for a couple of weeks now and it is difficult to keep the grass looking good and getting my shop time in at the same time. I passed onteh coffee this morning and opted for hot chocolate instead,
  23. some times all you get is "customer no service". One of the reasons I quite using my Ryobi scroll saw was for the same reason. Parts are cheap and easy to get, just tired of having to replace them every 4 months. I agree, buy a better grade threaded rod
  24. I immediately made me a copy and posted it on my shop door, (outside). It is missing,,, found it in the garbage.... she said I was lucky to still have my door hanging on my shop. It works in some houses, but not mine
  25. I personally like the wood walls over the sheetrock. Sheetrock looks nicer but the wood walls make itself available for a screw or nail anywhere without worrying about the studs. And if you do need find the studs, their whereabouts is no secret like with sheetrock. I agree that 2X4 studs and a vapor barrio would work perfect. I have the fiberglass rolled insulation in my shop and we have very cold temperatures in our area of the state and it is no problem to warm things up in my shop.
