  1. This is one that you could do and finish without it even taking you very much time. I do enjoy the end results of intarsia a lot but not to enthusiastic at the time it takes me. Dick heppnerguy
  2. Actually when I started my wood hobby, I started with making intarsia projects only. After a few years of doing that, I got kind of tired of doing them and turned to scrolling, once I realized that scrolling was more than a simple outline of an animal or something similar. I enjoyed the fact that scrolling a project could be done in an hour or less instead of 4 days it takes my to do most intarsia projects. I have several intarsia patterns I have never cut so I turned to those again, just for a change of pace. Never was very good at intarsia and I was too cheep to buy specialty woods for doing them. I still like the end results though. Dick heppnerguy
  3. I try to make the best choices possible from the woods I have on hand. I have never shopped for wood for any pattern I have made as the wood store is so far away from where I live. Dick heppnerguy
  4. You know, I really do not know the names of the woods, as I pick up different woods at the wood store that I like and go through what I have left in my wood supply and choose the ones that seem to work for me at the time. So I really can not answer that question. I will try to list them as I go on my next project so I can answer. I seem to get this question with all my intarsia projects, so I will try to remember to write down the woods and list them in my posts Dick heppnerguy
  5. I showed this pattern to my wife and she said she would like one for your front room wall, so here is the results of it. This is a JGR pattern and it might be a perfect pattern for someone who has been thinking about making an intarsia piece but strays away because they are not sure they could make one. Give this one a try if you even thinking you might like to try it. You can do it. Dick heppnerguy
  6. nice project. I like very much how well they all turned out Dick heppnerguy
  7. thank you so for the great video. I enjoyed how well you did the video and how well you explained things as you went about along. Nicely done. Dick heppnerguy

wow what fun projects. They look so cute and interesting. Love these little guys Dick heppnerguy
  9. I really like all the projects you have been posting. You certainly have a handle on your scrolling projects. Love them all Dick heppnerguy
  10. What a nice job this project is. When I opened it too see your post, I was immediately taken back by the skillful workmanship of it. It looks so real and the expression on his face is even a little startling. I would give you a 5 start rating for this perfectly done project Dick heppnerguy
  11. word art can be quite challenging for many, but practice sure makes it easier as we go along in advancing our efforts. This is a great piece with a lot of wisdom in the message of it. Dick heppnerguy
  12. Great Idea. There seems to be quite a few newer people from Montana here or I just may have just gotten more attuned to Montana because my granddaughter just moved there. Nice project to receive from you. Dick heppnerguy
  13. What a wonderful project. I was told about this pattern by my good friend, Scrapile, Paul, when I talked with him yesterday on the phone. He told my, he is also cutting this pattern. I can see why. It is amazing. One of the best 'word art ' patterns I have ever witnessed. Dick heppnerguy
  14. Looks like you have in mind exactly how you wish them to be. I am really hopeful you post the end results. I am not a Star war fan but I can easily see how mush their characters are loved as a great many people make them. I am thinking of putting my personal likes and dislikes behind me and cut one of these little guys and see what the reaction might be from my followers. Dick heppnerguy
  15. I, personally really like the inlay exactly like it is. Where did you purchase the inlay? I would really like to see what all they have. The cutting is excellent. This is one really wonderful project in every way. Dick heppnerguy
  16. Marg, I really enjoyed both of your projects here. The Gnomes are so dang cute and the foot one is so delightful. Thanks for posting so we all can enjoy viewing them Dick heppnerguy
  17. Very cute and attractive projects Dick heppnerguy
  18. Hope to see a report on how you do at the craft show. I believe you will be pretty happy with yourself when the show closes Dick heppnerguy
  19. a lot of thought and planning went into this project. they are pretty clever and cute and best of all original ideas. Good for you. I, personally am not very creative. Dick heppnerguy
  20. $50 each? I am impressed. I think they are quite unique when I saw the pattern, but I really did not think people would be interested enough to actually pay money for one. There I go judging what others are thinking. I wonder some times when I overlook something like this item, how many sales I have missed because of my judgements on the likes of others, thinking that if it does not interest me much, how can it excite anyone else. The dog puzzles are a good example of that thinking. Dick heppnerguy
  21. Thanks for the comments and yes, it is really nice when a customer is overjoyed with something they purchase from you. Always my goal, even if I am not completely satisfied with the project myself. I always do the best I know how to do but I also know any mistakes or anything that didn't come out as I hoped it would. Dick heppnerguy
  22. Maybe your should give another a try. I started out making intarsia and after about 4 years I got into scrolling because it didn't take to long to finish a project. I only do intarsia every once in awhile because I have several patterns laying around that I have never done Dick heppnerguy
  23. My memory has gotten so bad lately that I find I have trouble trying to recall the wood names unless they are written on the wood as I select it. I do remember a couple of them though. Black Mamba, Black walnut and I just can't think of the redder wood I used for the horns but it is a rather common variety. sorry Dick heppnerguy
  24. I could not agree with you more. That is always my goal Dick heppnerguy
  25. Marg, There used to be a lot of Bison in the South Dakota area and I understand that the parks dept. in that area will be the people this plaque will be gifted to. One of the colleges there call themselves the Buffalo's with is another term for Bison. that is why this pattern was selected. Dick heppnerguy
