  1. nice display of well made items. Congratulations on your successful day. thanks for posting your work and display. I enjoy seeing people getting nice results as it is rewarding to see that people value what we do and are happy to buy something they can never find in the stores. Dick heppnergu
  2. Very nice projects and I am so happy to see you sharing your talents for such a great cause. We have a person living in our community who is from Kansas City and of course a bit Chief's fan. He has held season tickets for a long time and goes to as many of their home games as he can. Dick heppnerguy
  3. I have really grown to liking the gnomes as so many others are too. I guess I am going to have to cut some too, before long. They are so cute. You have inspired me too Dick heppnerguy
  4. That is a really nice sign. I can't believe how you can keep coming up with ideas like you do. I hope you are doing ok with all that is going on in the Ukraine. Several people in our neighborhood are flying your flag to show support for all your people. I saw on the news that a couple of families from there have found love, support and a home to live in here in Phoenix. I love it that they are finding a little peace again. Dick heppnerguy
  5. Nice to see your work here. I bet those pieces sell really fast with the nice cutting and the colorful painting. Let us know how things went/ Dick heppnerguy
  6. I received a note that she had received it in the mail last night and she was well pleased with it. That made me happy as I always fear that the receiver may not be very happy with it for any reason at all. Dick heppnerguy
  7. She will not only be very pleased with the gift but you will be thought of every time she takes a tissue from it. I am sure that this nice box will be around for as many years as she is. Great job and well thought out. Dick heppnerguy
  8. When you take the time in making the wooden models and they come out as detailed and well made as yours, they deserve a nice display case to keep them in. It also allows for nice compliments to go along with the model comments. Dick heppnerguy
  9. Now there's a different idea. Even for something as simple as the pop can covers it is easy to see that making the project well, no matter the reason for doing so, comes out attractive if one uses their acquired skills and with the thought that if it is worth making, it is worth making well. Dick heppnerguy
  10. I think you did a splendid job on this. Colorizing it from the backerboard to show through in all the right places can be a real challenge alright. Especially when some of the lines are very small and close to something that has to be a different color. It all looks so nice and you should be proud to hang this one on the front room wall for others to admire when they visit you. Dick heppnerguy
  11. I have been busy in the shop and with other things and have not posted most of the projects I have completed lately. I get then done and mail them off and forget to even take photos of them. I remembered to photograph this item I made that is going to the National Parks Dept., I believe in South Dakota. The person who ordered it should be receiving it today, I believe. This is a Judy Gale Robert's pattern and I got lucky as it was on sale for $5. My timing was right about that. I have not done very many intarsia pieces for awhile but I am happy with how this one came out Dick heppnerguy
  12. nice project. It is always interesting and rewarding to make the same basic pattern but trying some changes to see how it might come out. Quite nice, indeed Dick heppnerguy
  13. I love this pattern. this is the first one I have seen cut and I like it even more now. You did a wonderful job with it. Who's pattern is this one. I remember seeing it several times but I do not remember where. Dick heppnerguy
  14. fun puzzle with a really great story too, as Rockwell was so good at capturing in his paintings. You brought it back to life again and stirred up some good memories for me. I almost forgot about all the magazine covers Rockwell painted. Dick heppnerguy
  15. this is a really nicely done project, all the way. Your extra effort with the stain brought it to look like a photograph. Thanks for posting it for us all to enjoy Dick heppnerguy
  16. I agree with everyone's comments. It is a wonderful project that you cut and it turned out to be outstanding. Dick heppnerguy
  17. You did a fabulous job on this project. the pattern looks rather challenging and the finish piece is remarkable. Love it Dick heppnerguy
  18. I have never seen a lettering like this one on a Harley sign. Maybe you should contact Harley and offer to sell them the rights to this one. ha ha ha Actually it is very outstanding and is full of personality. Great project Dick heppnerguy
  19. I would love to tell you the name of the woods I used for this but to be honest with you, my memory is so bad any more that I forget the names of even the common types when I try to recall their names. My health is superb but my memory is partly asleep it seems. Dick heppnerguy
  20. Thank you. I am pretty happy with how it turned out. I was not sure if I would like the end results when i started cutting it but I have to say I enjoyed making the piece and taking the extra time to mount is on a backer board and making a frame for it too. I think it inspired me a little that I probably with start another of my intarsia patterns that I have purchased and never taken the time to make. Dick heppnerguy
  21. Thank you Barbara for the nice comments. I am pretty happy with it myself, especially because I have gotten away from most intarsia items because it takes me so long to make them and scrolling is so much quicker to do. I am always looking for instant gratification from my work. As a result, my scrolling and intarsia if pretty mediocre for the most part. Dick heppnerguy
  22. Thank you. I really does not show up very well as the photo is a little blurry and under lit, but it really gives it a realistic shinny realistic look in real light. Kind of like the light shines in a persons eyes when you are looking at them face to face. It was a small shiny bead that i used on the lion. Dick heppnerguy
  23. Dave, What I used with my Dremel tool was just a one of the small sanding units that look a little like the sanding drums on a drill press or sanding grinders. A barrel shaped sander. I just turned it on a mid speed and used the very top edge of the drum sander and ran it along the wood in spirts and found it worked pretty well. the photo was taken in my shop and the light was not really very good at the time so it does not show very well but it did turn out pretty amazing to me. I once tried it with my Dremel and a cutting or grinding sort of attachment but it was not a satisfactory for me as the sanding drum. Try it on a scrap of wood and tell me how you like it. I would be very interesting in your opinion as you are a much better craftsman then I ever will be and perhaps you can discover something of some way that may be a lot better than the one I use.. Dick heppnerguy
  24. I ran across an Judy Gale Roberts intarsia pattern that I purchased some time ago and never got around to making it so I decided I would give it a try. I decided as I was cutting it, to put it into a frame with a painted backer board.I showed it to my neighbor as i was part way through the project and he suggested that I place a bead into the center of the eye instead of a dowel. I liked that idea and did that. I liked the results of it right away. Also I was wishing I had a Wonder Wheel so I could emphasize the hair in the lions mane. I decided to give my Dremel tool a try and see what I might be able to do it using it. It worked pretty well and I am happy with the results from it too. So overall I like the finished project fairly well. Still struggle with gluing and finishing my intarsia projects but a little happier than I normally am. Dick heppnerguy
  25. First of all, I send you my welcome from Southern Arizona. So happy you picked us out to join up with. I saw something in your post that caught my eye. You said you were now 74 years old and have been married for 62 years? That makes you only 12 years old when you were married....did you hit a wrong number key somewhere? Just asking Dick heppnerguy
