  1. I never get that far along. as soon as I try to upload I get the "Invalid file" notice.
  2. I have cut 1/4" band saw blades to length and used them in my DeWalt saw. I used them to cut sandstone and it worked very well for that. Made quite a dusty mess though.
  3. `I tried to insert photos from my own computer files and were very small . Avatar size.
  4. I find that the sanding mops I made only softened minor scratches. Did not round over edges at all. I no longer use them.
  5. I have followed instructions. I get an "invalid file" notice every time. Something I am doing is wrong but I do not know what it could be..
  6. I have been trying to upload photos there for two months now with zero success. Sad.
  7. Let me think....I started selling toys and trunks in 2007. 2008, I started making small boxes. Started out slowly selling them for $5 each at first. Very small boxes. 5" x5" or so. Next year, 2009, I started making larger and more boxes. By 2010 I was selling about 200 boxes a year. I have sold 300 per year the last few years so I guess the number is approaching 2000 total. <Newguy>..... I have assembled 28 photos documenting how I now make boxes. I plan to post them in the tutorial forum here on scroll saw village.
  8. I have tried flocking the interior of boxes but the selling feature of my boxes seems to be the inlaid image and the cedar smell. That cedar smell is 100% lost after flocking. I found that flocking does not increase sales so I no longer do it except on a special order.
  9. Thanks for the kind words everyone. I am working on making four of the wavy flag ones but a little larger so that a pistol will fit in it. I have a pistol near my front door in a box but it is a very small pistol (.380) The more popular nine mm. requires a larger box.
  10. Here are photos of my current best selling boxes. They measure 7" x 9" x 2" deep. I made a wooden pistol to show that a nine millimeter handgun will fit into this box. Woods are cedar, maple and walnut. Finished with lacquer. The only inlay is the star. I cut the curved line between the maple and cedar by stacking the two woods and cut them together at the same time.
  11. I agree. Screw the clamp holder down to almost touch top clamp; I found to made my Hegner saws smoother running, I bolt the stand to the concrete floor. Too tight of tension and too fast a feed rate or saw speed will break blades.
  12. I have been on there but I do not yet know how to upload me avatar. Any one know how to do that there?
  13. Seems they were having problems with robots on that site so the silly little questions for us "humans"
  14. I have a Hegner and a Hegner back-up saw. I then found an old Jet scroll saw. I now have two saws set up on stands and one Hegner under the bench. Life is good.
  15. It has been down for over a week now. I usually go there every day.
  16. Why not just use "Paint" to resize patterns. It is included on most computers, I think. I use it, to resize my images.
  17. One suggestion most new scrollers need is: "Slow down your feed rate." To fast a feed rate can break blades and cause you to wander off of your intended cut line.
  18. Only lubricant I use with my scroll saws is paste wax on the saw table. Helps a LOT turning the wood in making sharp turns while cutting.
  19. 99% of my projects are soft maple or basswood inlaid into eastern red cedar. Buyers love the smell of the unfinished cedar on the inside of the boxes.
  20. I have an ink stamp for applying my name directly on the project but have not used it in a long time now. I now use a sticker with my logo, email address, phone number, and name on it. Not as cheap as using the stamp, but it can be removed by the buyer if they want. I sell well over four hundred items a year, and most are given as gifts, so "signing" them is good to generate any repeat business.
  21. I have a rotary tool, similar to Dremel, (Black and decker) mounted in a Dremel drill press accessary that I use to make entry holes when doing inlay work. I have it set to a 6° angle for this.
  22. There was a "Texas Scroll saw Picnic" a few years ago in Denton Texas that I attended and presented a one hour program on making simple toys for toddlers to a room of about thirty people. It was a good time for me. Set up a booth and sold some of my stuff too. This is the show where I first saw some inlay work done using a scroll saw. Inspired me to try it. Now, I would be open to presenting a seminar on double bevel inlay, someday, if there is ever another opportunity in Texas.
  23. I went to the local pet store and tried out the best pumps they had and none of them moved anywhere near enough air to move sawdust. I know, I know, others love them but I had a different experience. I have an $8 hair dryer pointed at my saw blade and it works very well for me. I spend 40 hours a week in my shop and much of that time is spent using my scroll saws.
  24. Thanks for the pattern. I made two of them today. I plan to take one to "Show and tell" at our club meeting in August.
  25. Your local hobby shop will have great plywood, if that it what you need.
