  1. Bearing in mind I'm in the UK, can anyone tell me the best glue for sticking card to wood, it needs to dry clear so as not to show through the internal cuts, but strong enough to be a permanent fix, I've tried various wood glues but find that some areas lift and need re glueing, what do you use ?
  2. Not stamped on Roly, printed. I write my text and then reverse it, print it using a laser jet printer, place it on my project and using a cotton bud I rub the back of the paper with Xylene, (its like a strong paint thinner) the wording is then transferred to the wood, it only works with laser printers I'm afraid, not inkjet printers.

    Poppy

A simple thing I know, but I thought I would do my bit, the one on the right is an original with paper poppy, the one on the left is my version, all wood. All sales monies will be donated to the Poppy appeal.
  4. Hi I'm Doc from UK, nice to meet you.

    Westy

One completed West Island Terrier, It is 8x6 inches and cut from 3mm birch ply, the same person also wanted three small free standing animals of my choice, all done, hope she likes them.
  8. thanks to our talented pattern designers I have started cutting a west island terrier, I am about half way through at the moment but now I have another request, next time I ask for something with more than a dozen cuts, give me a slap and tell me to stick to easy projects, (why do dogs have to be so hairy)
  9. The van so far...
  10. love it, well done.
  11. today I blew my pocket money on a VW van, the idea is to convert the rear into a mini workshop for live displays at craft fairs, I shall also put in a kitchen pod and a comfy chair then I can have my poached eggs and a cup of tea the way I like, it instead of relying on the fast food kiosk and still have room for carrying my stock. Well that's the idea anyway..

    fairy

Messmans fairy on a garden sign and a house warming gift, both on their way to Wales (110 miles) my customers are getting further away.
  13. My customer chose the Tribal fairy from a pattern by Messman with the words 'Faerie dell' I'll post it when its cut.
  14. A customer is creating a little fairy village at the bottom of her garden and would like two signs, but does not know what to put on them, one would be the name of the village and the other would be a directional sign pointing to the village, does anyone in SSV have any inspirational ideas, thanks.
  15. 18 months, 3 weeks, 4 days, 7 hours, 23 minutes and 18 seconds, approximately.
  16. You are a quality scroller, love your work, well done.
  17. There is a company about 40 miles from me that deals in rubber wood, it does actually come from a rubber tree plantation and is used in the uk for things like bread bins, cutting boards and work surfaces, their off cuts are very cheaply priced.
  18. Cut from a pattern by Lawson 56 on 1/2 inch thick rubber wood, made as a free standing picture with no backing so would need to stand on a shelf with a plain wall background, thanks Mr Lawson.
  19. Yeah! ok, I did have a little play with the gun, still a big kid at heart...
  20. An 8 year old Man Utd fanatic will be getting one of these for his birthday tomorrow, courtesy of his parents request for something a little different. The small one is cut from Mahogany and the larger one cut from Ash. (Man Utd's nick name is Red Devils) The rubber band gun is something I used to make about 40 years ago whittling with my pen knife, this time I used a Band saw....much quicker...
  21. Never clench your teeth when doing fine cuts......it makes your jaw ache afterwards....
  22. Cut a little first thing while it was still cool, helped neighbour replace six fence panels, went shopping with my wife and now doing my best to dodge the sun and stay in the shade, and I'm happy.....
  23. I wouldn't dare show you my shop, you would wonder how on earth I managed to squeeze in to cut anything, not that its too small but because I am so untidy, next time I clean up I'll do what Heppnerguy did and take a photo, you might have to wait awhile though.
  24. Very nice words and I would normally cherish days like this but I cannot scroll properly if I cannot see through the salty sweat in my eyes, time to give up and lie in the sun for a while...
