  1. I have had what must be the worlds strangest request, this customer wants an hour glass to hold his ashes when he dies, he wants this mounted on a stand so that it can be turned. on the stand he wants some humorous wording, ie. turned in his grave. his name is fred and would like his name incorporated into the wording in a kind of rhyme with reference to being turned, I only have an area of 2 inches by 5 inches for the words so I cant use to many, I am struggling, can anyone help with the words or point me to a site that automatically generates odes or poems, I know this is a strange request but would be grateful for any help.

  4. Wish I was 40 again, have a happy birthday Mike.
  5. I have done a little direct printing in the past and found that inkjet printers don't transfer very well at all, but using a laser printer on ordinary paper the results were quite good. the method I use is to print the pattern (not forgetting to reverse any lettering) then place it ink side down on the wood, then using a cotton bud I rub over the back of the pattern with Xylene, which is a type of paint thinner. Make sure that the wood is sanded and free from dust and you should have a fairly good useable pattern. Hope this helps..
  6. No sooner do you see one, another comes along, first one was for my grandsons birthday, this one is for his jealous younger brother. Pteradon, mine has a 3foot wingspan, that's about one eighth life size, glad I live now and not then....

  8. Mmmm. the noise could put me off as well as the customers.
  9. Anyone had the chance to try the Dremel Moto saw. wondered if it could be used for demo's at some of the smaller craftshows where space is a premium ?

  11. I've just got my hands on a pattern for a 1 metre tall dinosaur skeleton, (Velociraptor) which I hope to complete in time for my grandsons birthday. More than 60 interlocking bones to cut, so I had better get started...what are you up to ?
  12. Hi Kev, nice to hear your voice again
  13. So, with a little help from your friends you cut your Leicester Tigers plaque, but what about the waste.....? You turn it into a coaster, better than putting it on the wood burner don't you think...
  14. A big thanks to Donr, DW, and Birchbark for saving my sanity. Heres my first effort, still to be sanded and finished but at least its cut..
  15. No sooner do I hand it over to my customer, I get an order for another one, wish I had stack cut now...but to compensate I did also get an order for a Leicester Tigers rugby plaque, now that I will stack cut.
  16. Hi, I'm Doc from Leicester UK, welcome.
  17. Unfortunately this has got a Foxes head and not a Tigers head and reads Football and not Rugby, you've guessed it I'm a Leicester Tigers Rugby fan, but I suppose living in Leicester I was bound to get asked for one of these eventually, there's no accounting for taste is there.....
  18. More than like them Marg, they are great.

  21. I was given a challenge by some visitors, create something out of a small log in one hour. It is totally unfinished and unsanded but this is what I came up with...A Log Book...
  22. Great cutting gator, I once did a logo for our local air ambulance charity shop, now you've got me thinking about doing stuff for my local church..
  23. That's a great job, your customer will be chuffed.
  24. Fantastic, I am so jealous of your skill and patience.
  25. I printed a bird picture from my printmaster gold program and used it as a pattern, I cut 3 bird shapes, 2x 3mm and 1x 8mm from scrap wood. I drilled a large hole straight through the lower body of the 8mm, and a smaller hole roughly where the legs would be through to the larger hole. All 3 pieces were then glued together with the 8mm in the middle and then painted. Drive a nail into a fence post or tree and insert the head of the nail into the small hole until it enters the large hole. Hey presto a garden bird/ornament. Use any shape bird you like and I'm sure you will do a better job than me, especially with a paint brush.
