Poplar is wonderful wood to scroll, with the added benefit of different colors. It is one of my favorites, along with black walnut and butternut.

I have one and I purchased it from Rockler. I like it but I have to be careful not to get the iron (electric) too hot, otherwise it “blurs” my brand.

I wonder if @Old Hudson will chime in. Yes, you can make operable clocks on the scroll saw. There is a company in Wisconsin that sells plans for geared clocks that you can make in the scrolll saw. I’ have attempted it,but failed. Will try again though.

I use the less expensive N95. If there’s a Menards in your area they have the N95 on sale. 20 pack for $4.99 with a $4.00 rebate.

I use Kevins recipe of beeswax and mineral oil. A little goes a long way. Like Bill said a gallon of mineral oil would last a long time. i also use shellac, which is food safe, quite often. if I know I will be sitting a piece for awhile, I will use Minwax Antique Oil, but it does take a bit to cure. It’s also my favorite finish to use. I agree with BadBob. Key word is cured.

I use cigar tubes. The tubes of blades are stored in a cigar box. When using a certain size blade,I just have the tube sitting on my workbench. When it comes time to change blades, it gives me a chance to stand up and stretch.

Awesome job on the mouse. Christmas tree also. I don’t recall seeing the mouse in the magazine. I’ll have to go back and take a look at it.

Here in Minnesota, it gets cold. So I’m lucky. I have a summer shop and a winter shop. The winter shop is in the basement, toasty warm. The summer shop is detached 3 stall garage, uninsulated. I pretty much have two of everything I need for woodworking. It probably would’ve been cheaper insulating and heating the 3 stall vs duplicating all my tools. Oh well.
