  1. Yep, I am a big fan of Ms. Kingdon. I did the Bearded Viking one and now working on the "Entertwined Trees Heart". I have several other of her patterns. I said I did the one I posted here in Oak, but I didn't feel that was right,,, the wood just cut too easily for oak. Did some research and I am now sure it is a beech board I purchased from Cherokee Woods in Calif. Nice cutting wood. Looks sorta like red oak but softer and a little more pinkish.
  2. Very beautiful box!!
  3. Nice work Kevin... I wish I had your energy!!
  4. Beautiful piece of art! You really raise the bar. I get excited to open every one of you new posts....
  5. Well done!! Great cutting, and a beautiful Christmas ornament it is!
  6. Ha, I'm too cheap to buy a whole can of paint for that little touch up... Maybe I will just put a smiley face sticker over it or something....
  7. Beautiful picture. Did you do the pattern? I'm a big bird fan, always love seeing picture of them.
  8. @stoney, just wanted to let you know,,, I did "the mod" on my Hegner a little over a week ago. It turned out to be very simple, as you said... the longest part being taping the hole. I was going real slow and careful doing that,,,, in a little ways back, in a little more and back out... Got the spring at an Ace Hardware. It was a little weak, held the arm up, but when I lowered the arm there was hardly any resistance and I didn't like the feel.... My saw also seemed to have more vibration than before the mod... so I made the spring a little shorter and it really helped. Not sure if the spring caused the vibration, I had to move the saw to work on it and I have to get it back in just the right spot or it will vibrate more. Anyway, I got it done and I glad I did it... helps to have the arm go up higher... I need to find a little orange paint now...
  9. Her is one I have found to be as simple and effective as they can get, for just resizing: https://imageresizer.com/ I also use this, you can use an online version or download a program to your computer: https://posterazor.sourceforge.io/index.php?page=download&lang=english
  10. Nice project and well done. This may be the Christmas no one can forget!
  11. Joe,,,, I'm just returning from that wall.... I know of what you speak.... Your projects are awesome.... the inlays really take the baskets up a notch as does the power carving on the trivet. That should not sit under a hot pan,,,, it is definitely a wall hanger. All very well done.
  12. After trying several homemade holders and such this is what I have settled on. The tubes and holder come from e-bay and are very cheap.
  13. Right,,, very cute! Well done..
  14. You been a busy man, Dick.. great stuff.
  15. Almost puts me in the spirit.... Great work.
  16. I have not purchased Baltic Birch from Cherokee yet but I have purchased some of there other woods and have never been disappointed...Next time I need BB I am going to try theirs.. I purchased some from Windsor Plywood the other day, and am ashamed of myself for buying it.. pure junk, but I was out, we are going back into lockdown, and I was afraid I would not be able to get any for sometime...
  17. Love that. So somewhere an explanation on how that is done, but can not remember where. Really looks great. I know it is cut shaped vertical lines... darn wish I could remember where I saw... You did an awesome job,,, my father-in-law had a Javelin, same era, he loved that car.
  18. Beautiful piece of art!
  19. I normally like flat black.... but that picture, the brown looks like leather.... I like it,,, I vote the brown.
  20. I do not know the character, but he is a cutie and you did your usual great job cutting and putting it all together...
  21. Well, for some reason, around last may, I decided I needed a break from scrolling.... I think I kinda got burned out and I also had neglected other important things because of the hobby. Anyway... I did check in here once in a while just to see what was going on in the scrolling world... A couple weeks ago, I spotted a post by @heppnerguy of a cutting he had done of a Fiona Kingdon patter that was in the last issue of SSW. I really loved what he had done. I don't take the magazine anymore and thought about ordering the issue,,, but with the cost of the mag and shipping... na, I think not. A couple days latter, I was at a grocery store with my wife, and we were by the magazine rack and there, the first thing I saw was the latest issue of SSW. I thought it must be an omen! So I bought it. Just finished cutting the pattern yesterday. I wasn't sure I would make it through the cutting because it has been a while and it is not a simple pattern. But, I did and am happy with the results... I haven't applied a finish yet. I think I want to dip it and then spray with Deft Clear coat, but I also want to plan around with a stain glass for a backer.... I don't have any stain glass so I will have to learn something about that. I cut it in 1/2" Beech. By the way, I did really miss the form, I am going to limit my time spent here, but very happy to be somewhat involved again... I have browsed around some and see some great projects have been done.
  22. I'd say that is beautiful. Well done!
  23. Ha, @NC Scroller, you say no mess.... you should see me with a hot glue gun.... strings of hot glue every where.... on everything..... I have never figured out how to use one, I guess...
  24. The glue is a great and simple idea. I am going to give it a try. I usually tape around the perimeter and maybe pound some small nails in a few waste areas. Dabs of glue would work even better.
