  1. Started to do a little scrolling and darn air blower hose part snapped off when I went to adjust it....!!! Now the saw is down until I get a new one.. have to order, nothing like it around my area.... Why I like having wo saws...
  2. Jameson is Irish Whiskey,,,,, it was probably strained through a sock.... or maybe something worse.. Now I have all the Irish out there made at me.... please, if I didn't like you I wouldn't try your whiskey...
  3. NASA can afford to buy their own Jamesons.......! Probably get it cheaper than I can... I bet everyone on here thinks I am a drunk.... How could they think that of me... I am really just "rummy" from staying home for all these weeks with my wife....
  4. Great pieces!
  5. I always look forward to opening one of you posts, Kris. Love seeing you art.
  6. I use both. Has to do with type of picture and size. Lot of fine veining, I like to use 1/8" because thicker and the veining will not show up. I erred on my last picture, well didn't err, I didn't have a piece of 1/8" so I used 1/4". As you can see the detail of the picture does not show up like it would have had I used 1/8". On bigger detailed pictures it may not matter as much.
  7. Great piece!! The packer with the grain really gives some depth to it. Congrats to @lawson56 for a great pattern also.
  8. One of those pictures that gives some "calm" when you look at it. Very nice.
  9. I am always looking for ways to improve the nozzle on my dust collection on my scroll saw. Some to fit over or on the nozzle to prevent little pieces from getting sucked up that I don't want to have sucked up. Couple years ago I found a part in an old Delta faucet that was on the end of the spout that worked perfect in my top nozzle. The first on pictured. Never could find a way to purchase the part separately, had to buy the would screw on thingy which was more than I was willing to pay just to get this part out of it. Today I found something that I think will work for my nozzle on my other saw setup. This just happen to come out of a Jameson bottle.... I use it only because I can't find mouth wash in the stores right now, have to improvise for the cause, the least I could do.... With a little heat it slipped right over the nozzle. I think it will work pretty good. May wear out quicker so I may have to build up a stock of them,,,,
  10. I did do a scan of the pattern the other day just to see what quality of pattern I could get. I have very simple scan software, in fact it is named "HP Easy Scan. It does allow me to increase the quality, crop and enhance color before scanning. Then when I get it on my computer, I can enhance even more and enlarge. At the printer I can improve quality of print and I was able to get a very nice pattern. It was one that needed to be increased by 143%. I was very pleased with the results... So, I think it is doable and I did not tear the book apart. It did bend the spline some, but the next pattern will lay flat easier. I want to publicly thank Ali my shop dog for helping me with this!!
  11. Very well done!
  12. I don't know how to do it but this may help:
  13. Oh no, just started a hoarding panic on blue paper towels..... Every one will need at least 50 packages of them!!
  14. Nope. we have been practicing and he pretty well has it figured out. Little more practice on paw placement. He is negotiating for an new ball every time he does it...
  15. Ray, I have always used 1/8" and 1/4" for scrolling. I only use 1/2" or 3/4" for making jigs or cabinet or something like that...
  16. Well our local Windsor Plywood is NOT open.....
  17. I certainly will give that a try. Need to teach my shop dog Lab to hold the page for me,,,, he a pretty smart doggie....
  18. Maybe this should be in the Pattern section somewhere, but I couldn't decide where or which. But @Kris Martinson mentioning in another thread he was thinking about doing a book of his patterns (wouldn't that be great?!), and it made me think of a question about pattern books. I have several books, and in most the pattern say to enlarge the pattern by a large percent, as big as 200%. I have not figured out a way to do that and still have a good pattern. Even if you print them or scan them at the size they are in the book, the edge can get distorted do to having to forcing the page flat. I don't want to destroy a books, by cutting patterns out of them, already do enough damage just by flattening the page. So how does a person get the right size pattern from a book?? Do you take them to a print shop?
  19. Oh,,, computer dummy me!!
  20. One of my favorites, Kris. Great work. I understand your concerns but you book would be a great one.
  21. Ya, I did think of a lighted shadow box or something similar. Not going to put that much effort into this attempt, but I think it would work and be kinda neat. Kris, you did a much better job of of it than I did.
  22. Recently @RabidAlien posted the pattern of the Jazz Trumpeter. One I wanted to try so I did. Not posting this because I am happy with it but more to give advice to anyone else that cuts it. As you can see with mine, it does not show up well. The reason is I did not enlarge the pattern enough, this is approximately 10" x 7.5" x 1/4". When I do it again (out of wood right now), I will increase the size by at least 50% more. That way the lines will be thick enough to let the white show through, and I will cut it in 1/8" pieces (stacked), that will also let the white show up more. It is a fun cut and not real difficult. There are some very fragile area and making it bigger will also strengthen them some. I really enjoyed playing around with it, not sorry I tried and it will be on my do over list. Is making a trip to a wood store essential???!! Feels like it to me.. Just thought of another option, reverse it, doesn't look too bad.
  23. Awesome! Well worth all you effort, and a great memory piece... Nice work
  24. That is really nice. Put that up with the first one you posted a short while ago and you have come a long ways in a very short time with your shaping and all. Great job.
  25. Nice work, Denny. Those little guys are fun to make.
