  1. Great job! The mother in law will be pleased.
  2. Nice!
  3. Well done. It is a very pretty piece.
  4. Nice tree, fun idea.
  5. @courtym74 I have read somewhere that you can remove the bubbles with a heat, like going over the epoxy with a heat gun or a torch... I have not done it so, something you might try some time.
  6. Great cutting.
  7. Well I like them. The last cat we had pass away was named Bentley. I called him BillieBob. He preferred being called BillieBob.
  8. I know how you feel. I have a router lift that was suppose to arrive at my post office yesterday. Delivered by UPS SurePost. I received a message late in the afternoon "Unfortunately, UPS SurePost couldn’t complete your delivery because no one was available to sign for it". Ya right, the main post office in our area and no body around in the middle of the afternoon..... This is the second time this has happened. They need to work this out. It is a bogus message, really telling me they are behind on deliveries and skipping this one will help catch up... That I understand, but I hate to be lied to.
  9. Les, you are in my thoughts. Everything will be okay and you will be kicking up your heels and scrolling like never before.
  10. I finally completed these yesterday. These are a Sheila Landry design. Easy to cut, lots of sanding and most difficult of all for me was getting them attached to the rockers. They are made of cherry and there is a very small gluing area (just at the small hooves). I use Titebond, nope, epoxy, nope, Clear Gorilla glue nope and CA glue. What finally worked was the combination of Gorilla Glue and CA glue. A second problem with the gluing there was no way to clamp them with the clamps I have. I had to dream up ways to use weights. The one with the held up leg, I had to use pins along with gluing. May have to go back and add pins to the other, they are fragile. They are around 6" long and 6" high.
  11. Down boy... Nice job, @Woodrush
  12. What a cool idea and well executed. Now make him one, same idea using wine corks..... I made several pens using wine corks back in my pen turning days.
  13. NO WAY!!
  14. Well, need to change. Look at mine you can probably guess, I not one day over 25! more like 18,615+ days over.....
  15. Glad to have you join us... You are starting out with a great saw.
  16. Yep, couldn't do it now but use to know how. Those are very cool..... seriously the lady in the avatar picture does not have grand kids!
  17. A never ending conversation. I say blades are reasonably cheap. Buy a variety of sizes and brands. Try them and decide for your self which work best for you for what you are cutting at the time. Personally I have never like a blade bigger than a #5, and only go that big when doing 3D cutting or other thick wood. It is all personal preference, and what works best for you... It has nothing to do with "bragging rights". Sometime what blade I use has to do with what mode I am in....
  18. I agree, cut little critters...
  19. Seyco sells one too. Might be worth check it out also. I have always wanted one of those... but, little room and little money..... I did order a router lift for my router table.... Merry Christmas to me....
  20. I agree with Dave Monk, do not hesitate to call and ask questions. I must have called them 5 times when I first got my Hegner. I kept breaking blades and was getting frustrated with the saw. They said they were going to work with me until I it was my favorite saw I had ever owned,,, and they did. In my case it was all about learning the tension. Not the saw's fault. About the "Quik clamp". I bought a second one a while back and the surface on it is much rougher than the original one. Not sure why they did that. I was thinking of mounting it in a drill and running it on some sand paper to smooth it down a little, but I have gotten use to it. The little foot switch, I was leery of it at first, but now it is my favorite and if I ever have to buy another for my other scroll saw (it is a bigger pedal) I will get one like the one that came with my Hegner. The blade rubbing is not right and needs to be resolved. I agree, check the the blade and table are 90°. If not get on the phone with Advance Machinery. Contrats on the new saw... You will be happy, just takes a little getting use to.
  21. I look at the parts at Advanced Machinery and look like $61.00 for the rod and wedges and the little chips $3.95 ea. Most be more damage than those parts. I have looked this up just a while back because my rod was a little bent when I first got my used Hegner, I was able to straighten it enough that it worked fine, but I think the threads may be getting warn now because the the tension work loose and I have to readjust the tension more often than I use to. But hey,,,, 31 years is reason enough to by a new saw.... Congratulations! Did you get the 18"or the 22"?
  22. All is not lost, Ray, you made more progress than less. I've had several notices lately that people have added or updated their location to the map.
  23. You should be Ray!! I'm just kidding nothing wrong with asking, and nothing wrong with what amount of personal info a person wants to give, or not. Just got to warn you though, I gave my address to a couple of scrollers, Heppernerguy and Scrollingforsanity, and the both have showed up!! That is what can happen....! I am very glad they did, I have two great friends now to actually visit with... That is more friends I have ever had at one time.... actually more than I have ever had,,, period!!
  24. Very beautiful. I would say you found your go to finish...
