  1. Super great cuttings. Perfect choice of wood for the Iguana. I mean perfect!! If that doesn't look like done in lizard skin, nothing wood.
  2. WOW!!! Is your son up for adoption?? That is awesome. The magnetic mat it pretty cheap and works well or a piece of masonite, plexiglass, or hard board stuck down with double-sided tape works good.
  3. I have not notice this yet on my Hegner or Seyco.. Maybe on the Hegner it is because I have to adjust the tension often. I think my tension mechanism is wearing out.
  4. I don't know how you keep whipping this stuff out! Good stuff!
  5. That is my complaint about my system. I have a Fein, but I the air sucking noise at the nozzles is much louder than the vac. I have to wear hearing protection. I would like to figure out how to quieten it some.
  6. Very well done. Cutting 1" oak must not be easy.
  7. It will in most cases, if you don't get in a big hurry, let the MS soak through the paper. One down side to this method, well some have mentioned it as a down side, after removing the pattern and the residue from the wood, you then have to wait for the MS to dry before you can do anymore with the piece. That may take an hour or so depending on how soaked you got it.
  8. @flarud I just wipe Mineral Spirits on the pattern. wait a few seconds and lift the pattern off. Then I wipe the wood off with more MS to get any remaining residue. Try Mineral Spirits once instead of heat and goof off. See if it works better for you.
  9. It is the "your own worst critic" syndrome. Certainly nothing wrong with that. Does it go with the little stand. I really like that also.
  10. Back when I started, I learned from on here to use blue tape first, the pattern glue to the blue tape followed by a covering of packing tape. I tried the packing tape twice and gave up on it because dust would get between it and the pattern. I continued to do the blue tape thing for some time and then read to just apply the pattern glued directly to the wood. That is now my preferred method. I only use the blue tape if I stack cut and then I may only use it around the outside edges to hold the stack togerher, or if the cutting gets real fragile and I think it will help hold things together. I did an experiment once when cutting Cherry and I did get less burning when I put down blue tape, but that was the only place I saw there may be a benefit as far as maybe lubricating something. Just my experience. It certainly does not hurt to use the tape if you have good wood. It not it may pull up wood fibers when removing it.
  11. I stamp them beautiful... If you get tired of seeing that, make some ugly ones. Those are exceptional.
  12. Very nice cutting and the results are great. I always have a "relaxing" cut going that I turn to when I need a break from other projects. Not away a religious theme, but just something I want to cut and am not in a hurry to finish.
  13. Yep, that is a very nice cutting. I do not do many celebrities, but I really like the faces that show some mileage and maybe some rough hard living.... Old Merle always looked that way to me. His face has character and you captured it...
  14. Another beauty, Ron.
  15. Nice setup Tony. I notice you use the "Flair Nozzle" on the end of your top line. I'm curious if that works better for sucking up the dust. I use a regular 3/4" nozzle and feel it should do better. Thought I just buy a couple of the flairs for my setups and give them a try, but at $10 (!) each I thought I would ask someone first....
  16. Lots of boxes lately. I love it. great work.
  17. Not really to my liking, but you really did some great cutting. It will appeal to many.
  18. Nice work, Dick. Glad to see you getting time on the machine...
  19. Great boxes. Make a little box joint jig. I made this one years ago: https://www.woodsmithplans.com/plan/box-joint-jig/ It works perfect and fully adjustable. There are simpler one the work great also. Lots of plans on the internet.
  20. More beautiful boxes... Very nice work. When you say buff, do you buff them with a buffing wheel. Nothing looks much richer than wood buffed...
  21. The whole problem with beloved pets, they do not live long enough... My lad is a crazy hunter also. Never has missed prey. Always finds it no matter what. I wish is was birds and not a ball, but birds do not seem to interest him.... It's okay, I not a hunter anymore. That is a great looking piece. Joey is going to cherish that.
  22. Humm, I haven't seen it at our local Windsor Plywood store. May have to ask them, maybe they can get it. It is not readily available at any of the wood stores I frequent, but I haven't asked any. It is pretty rare to find a holly tree big enough to cut lumber from. And it grows around the Northwest. I have one in my yard, I planted maybe 9 - 10 years ago. I can see I am not going to live long enough for it to grow big enough for any type of lumber.
  23. I have a Seyco and it is a great saw with the biggest table of any of the saws, I think. It also is purchased from a company, (Seyco) that gives the best customer service and has the most knowledge about their saw... There are two things that some people do not like about it: 1. the cutting head tilts to 45° to the right, but only 30° to the left. 2. It does not have the rack and pinion type adjustment to tilt the head, you have to move it by pushing it the direction you want to tilt. And maybe there is a third, it doesn't come with the Pegas blade clamps. The ones on it are good, but not quite as nice as the Pegas. The Jet, I have not even seen one in person, the only down side I have heard about is it is bottom feed only unless you purchase a set of Pegas clamps for it. Whether any of these are negatives or not, is personal choice.
