WOW! I love that Steve! You are right purple heart makes that work. Awesome job. I love the cuttings of trees like that. I bet you also got the Viking Tree one also,,,, I did. -
The only real 3D cutting, I call it "compound cutting" for some reason, I have tried are the nutcrackers in my gallery. But I really had fun doing it and definitely want to do more.

Very nice job. Not a golfer myself but can see that would be well received by golfers. You ought to make one and sell it to a local golf club. Bet you would get requests to sell more.

I love big cats and have scroll several. I really wasn't going to do anymore until I saw one @mikewix posted on Lumberjocks. I had to do it. Not sure I did as well as Mike did, but I gave it a shot. It is 1/2" thick Oak, 12" x 15'. A Charles Hand pattern called "I Love My Jag", pattern # 062. I cut the bulk of it with a 2/0 Pegas spiral, the went back over it with a 3/0 Flying Dutchman New Spiral blade to do some of the finer detain and then over it again with a #3 Pegas MG blade to make sharp corners and points in the detail where needed. I'm thinking I would like to do some staining on it, just not sure I am brave enough.

I think you are doing great. I think your sanding is fine, in my opinion, and just my opinion and likes, is some people doing intarsia over sand. I have seen some pieces that to my eyes, look like the animal had been on steroids for many years. I'd like to do it but never seem to get to it, same with inlay. Maybe as I get older I am more comfortable working just in my comfort zone.. Or, maybe getting lazy. I do know I'd have a hard time spending the money on exotic woods and more sanding gear.

Why go to all the trouble of making the auxiliary table to the same shape as the original table top, doesn't have to be. Cut a notch for the clamp leave the table top a rectangle. New teeth plus a bigger table top... @Rockytime why can't you do this as a bottom feeder? What you don't get is the reverse teeth in you were using a reverse teeth blade. Just means more fuzzies to clean up. -
I am cutting a fret picture of an animal. I have plans of trying to stain the animal when I finish cutting it. My question is, is there a way to prevent the stain from getting on the border, where the picture is connected to the border? It is one piece of wood and you do not cut it free of the border so how do I prevent that stain from seeping over into the border? If it were paint I could do it with tape, but stain may seep under the tape... I think I will be using gel stain, which may help some. I guess I could cut if free of the border, stain it and then glue it back, but I prefer not to.

I used some 1/8" masonite. Made my Hegner table a little bigger. I also covered the Seyco table with it so I could have it rigged for zero clearance inserts.

HA! For screws I use a wax toilet gasket, works great! Recently I tried the "rounding" the back of the blade thing and I really didn't notice any difference. Maybe because I never use a very big blade.

I'm thinking you need a green background and then you will get your "pop". You did a very nice job cutting. When I do veining, I use a small flat blade first to follow the lines, then I go back with a 3/0 Flying Dutchman New Spiral blade and cut them again. It is quick because the spiral blade follows the precious cut and it gives me just the right thickness of a kurf that I like.
