  1. Cutting a straight line with a spiral can be a challenge. It is not what they are made for. I can do it, I go real slow with my feeding and I concentrate on the side the blade I have next to the line I want to follow. I concentrate so hard that that is all I see, that line and that portion of the blade. If the line is a long one, when I an done, I take a Tylenol for the headache. Actually if I have a long straight line, I switch to a flat blade. I changes blades often when I scroll something if there are several different types of cuts in it. Changing blades is simple and fast.
  2. Seems I remember that Steve Good made a cranking device for tilting the head of his Seyco saw. Has anyone made one or did I dream this...? I haven't tried any bevel cuts yet and one of the reasons is I think I am not going to like the Seyco way of tilting the table verses the Excalibur. I do love the big table on my Seyco though....
  3. Well it would impact me because I want to buy from a company that I feel will be in business for some time. I can not see how they can stay in business this way. I am not a business person, but I know enough about it to know they seem to know less than I do. And, just do not have the patience Kevin has. I think he has gone above and beyond. Service from people I deal with is very important to me. Personally I am somewhat worried about the Seyco. They give stiller service, but look at the competition for that class of saws now in the USA. King, Excalibur, Pegas and Seyco all with basically the same saws in the same price range. I'm not sure there is a big enough audience to support all of them. Scroll saws, I don't think, are a big seller in the wood working world nor is there a lot of repeat buying. Time will tell.
  4. Charlyl commented on it in this thread:
  5. Hummmm, High school graduation picture for your avatar, nice Travis.
  6. Nice work. I really like the way your are framing them also.
  7. Welcome to the Village, Elysia. I think you will enjoy it here. I'm looking forward to seeing your creations.
  8. I may not understand the question, but it is the distance between the clamps that matters. When you release the tension, the clamp will be lower and the blade is put in, then with the blade in set the tension again. Been a while since I used a DeWalt so, wait for some more answers,,,, Some of the current DeWalt owners will speak up.
  9. I have been a hold out on the Pegas clamps for my Seyco. I have never had a problem with the original clamps on it or the Excalibur I use to own. But, I have read so many comment of the Pegas miracle clamps,,, I finally had a weak moment and purchased a set. I purchased from QTE North America out of Calif. They were a little cheaper than any where else. Saved a couple bucks. I received good service from them, I think. I also ordered some blades while I was at it and they sent the wrong blades. I called and they are working on correcting that. Didn't have the ones I wanted so they had to have them shipped from New Jersey. I have not received them yet, they could be in my P.O. Box, I haven't been there for several days. Okay I have had the clamps on my saw for over a week. I had a minor problem installing mine. One of the bolt/nut that holds them on would not tighten down snug. I would tighten the nut as far as I could (lock nut) and I could still turn the nut and bolt together with my fingers. All the others fit snug. I moved bolts/nuts around but it made no difference on the one location.. So I took the clamp off and the bushings out and compaired the length of them. One measured a very tiny bit longer than the other. I took a file and just ran it across the end of the bushing very lightly. Put it back together and it worked fine. Must have been a little burr or something. Using the clamps is nice. I have been cutting more than usual lately so I feel the clamps are getting a work out. I like the lack of bulkiness the original ones have. The clamps work smoothly. I'm a little worried about how well the tension lever will last. It just seems frail to me, but time will tell. I did not notice any difference in vibration of the saw. My Seyco runs pretty smooth and has since I first fired it up. I have had no complaints with that and do not see how it could be improved. I like the Pegas clamps and do feel they are an upgrade. Not sure it is worth changing if things are working well with the original clamps, but if one really needed to replace the old clamps I would recommend spending the extra and getting the Pegas clamps. The longer I have them on the saw, the more I seem to like them. They sure are prettier than the original clamps........
  10. Nice job!
  11. Some really nice cuttings. I agree the "Reflections" one makes the old eyes misty.
  12. Oh my, Ray is going to be the new Walmart Greeter!!! I have bought a lot of supplies from there. Mostly I get poster board there. Why coffee stir sticks... I eat pop-cycles when I want sticks...
  13. Not at all hard to see why she liked it.
  14. Very nice work. Don't own a VW, been buzzing off my own hair for years, so I like the eagle clock the most.
  15. Very pretty piece! Great cutting..
  16. That is really nice. I like the Cedar, but ya maybe Black Walnut would show a little more. When you posted the last one made me go look at the internet for Irish Blessings. There a quite a few neat ones. I may have to try a couple one of these days. Great job on yours.
  17. looks like you and that new saw are a great pair. Very nice cuttings.
  18. I wonder if I am related to this guy, same hairdo and big ears..... Very nice cutting and putting it all together. I do not know much about the Harry Potter world.
  19. Well, tell your wife you can always make her another one.... sell!
  20. @CharleyL I have heard of putting wax on the blade several times over the year. Doen't that affect finishing, like you get wax on the wood while cutting? Finish won't stick to wax. I have never tried it.
  21. Very nice and what a sweet little truck... I had a '50 one once.
  22. Looks good,,, make the box!
  23. Congratulations! I think you will love it.
  24. Great cutting. I like the way you did the space shuttle one.
  25. I know what you mean, I have done a little compound cutting, not in that hard of wood. I want to do a chess set or two and for the dark wood I plan on cocobolo because I have quite a stash of thick short pieces of it. That is hard, dense wood.
