  1. Looking mighty fine!
  2. My favorite for pictures is the Flying Dutchman 3/0 New Spiral. I like the Flying Dutchman blades. Can't say they are the best, I have not tried many other brands because best or not, Mike's workshop gave me the most help and very best service. It still does even though it is not really Mike's anymore.
  3. I have the old Delta and have had it for years. it has always worked for me, but I have never pushed it hard. I do have to keep the rollers clean and hook it up to the dust collector to keep the chips out of it as much as possible or it will quit feeding the boards. If i were to replace it I would look hard at the DeWalt. I have read good things about it. I wish I had the room and money for a bigger one than the 13".
  4. You did a great job on that. Very artistic! I really like it.
  5. That is an exceptional piece of art. I really love the background you put the birds on also. Excellent work.
  6. Thank you all for the nice comments. I will pass on the the thanks to Spool for his service. Still plan on making the mounted helmet. I will pick one of his up in June when I see him next.
  7. Great look! Very well done.
  8. Sorry go it posted twice, do not see a "delete post" option,
  9. Just took this off the saw and laid it on a backer. This was trickIer than I thought it would be. Some very fragile areas and I was doing it with flat blades on a new saw. Took me some time, I had to go real slow, but I am getting some practice with the flat blades. I used a FD-PSR. #3. The pattern is by J. Lawson. Thanks for looking.
  10. Looks good and very fitting.
  11. Congratulations, your wife picked a great saw for you. Your are going to love it.
  12. Very well done, Dick.
  13. must have gotten the saw fixed? Looks like it is working great. Very nice scrolling.
  14. Some very fine scrolling. I have that turtle one saved up. Now you go me anxious to pull it out of the file.
  15. looks great, DW. You are the bowl master!
  16. Very well done, Gator. What a cutie.
  17. Be sure the wood you see at Lowe's is Baltic Birch and not just birch plywood. Baltic Birch is usually sold in 5' x 5' sheets, although some places carry 4'x 8' sheets. BB has more plys no voids. I say this because Lowe's and Home Depot do not normally carry Baltic Birch.
  18. Great job! What spirals did you use? Flying Dutchman New Spiral 3/0 is my favorite. But, do not make the mistake I made. I used nothing but spirals for almost a year. Now I am wanting to try some different, to me. types of scrolling. Like intricate fret work on boxes and a flat blade give a cleaner cut, you can get sharper points and squarer corners with a flat blade, but I am having a heck of a time getting use to flat blades again. I say stay in practice with both. I wish I had.
  19. You did a very nice job on a very nice looking couple.
  20. The bits I use (regular twist bits) are straight, they are not bigger at one end. Are you using a tapered bit of some sort? You can get real small bits from most places that sale blades online. Mike's Workshop, Sloan's, etc. They are around $8 a doz.
  21. Very nice scrolling.
  22. Great scrolling. And Dan (Dgman) is correct. Johnson's Past Wax work well.
  23. Ray, glad you are making progress. That is a very sturdy looking bench. I think you will really like it. I had my saw tilted and then went back to level. I don't really mind it either way so one advantage to flat, things don't slide off. So I went with flat. I'd like to have it adjustable so you could have it both ways. I keep thinking I will do that some day, but I'd have to interrupt my scrolling to do it.
  24. Yep, brag away, that is very nice!
  25. I think it would be a good and reasonable to lock the pattern gallery to members only. I also think only members should be able to download patterns the people post in the New Pattern threads if there is a way.
