    Owls

Oh, my wife is an owl fan. Those are very nice. I like them better than those 190 bushy tailed rats you were forced to make!!
  2. So, Rusty what kind of box are you going to make? I would think that would help dictate the thickness of wood.
  3. I'm anxious to see where this is going. Are you gearing up to cut coins? I love that stuff and want try it some day. One thing that troubles me about it is do the metal filings have any adverse effect on a saw? They would be very fine fillings that look to me would not be good for it. Any one know the answer?
  4. I started a box this evening that has a lot of fret work involved. It is to made out of 1/4" material. That is what the plans call for.
  5. Well, I'm off the hook, I looked I do not have that one. Thought I did.
  6. Those are awesome looking cars and you did an A+ job on it, cutting and pattern. Do they still make them? My favorite car, that I have owned was a Sunbeam Tiger. What a little hotrod. I started making a pattern of one to cut but I haven't mastered the pattern thing. It is about 1/4 finished. Hope to actually complete the pattern and cutting some day.
  7. Great job Hans! I hear you on the straight blades. I've been trying to use some lately and I am really struggling with them. It would be hard to convince me they are easier to use than spirals!
  8. Excellent job, Gater. I love that pattern. I have to see if I have it. I'd be afraid to try it though, no sure I can reach the bar you and Steve have set! Have you guys looked at Mike Williams' patterns? I ordered 7 of them. Got one of the Moose set up and ready to start scrolling.
  9. That is pretty stuff. Hate to see it used for bookmarks, but they sure will be specially pretty ones. That really need to be a nice piece with some great word of wisdom scrolled in it. The last two sheets of BB I bought (5' x 5') has been the worst I have ever gotten. Going to a different store next time. I should have know they were the last two sheet he had. Should have told me something......
  10. I can see why they are happy with it. Well done.
  11. I wish I had started when I was you age. I started at 70, just turned 71 and keep thinking of all the things I want to make and may not have enough time left!! By the way over on Steve Good's forum there are two teenagers signed up. They seem to be having a lot of fun and are doing outstanding work.
  12. maybe paint it with automotive paint?
  13. 1/4" steel plate I think that is what the original is made of. Any suggestions, I know very little of this stuff.
  14. I was out to dinner with my nephew and his family the other evening and was talking to his son. His son is in high school and taking metal shop. I asked him if he needed a project and if so, could he make me a bigger table for my scroll saw. I described it to him and he thought it would be simple. They have a CNC machine he loves to use. I made a pattern for him today, I added 4" on each side and 3" in the front. Anyone think of any problem with doing this?
  15. Looking good and if you are not satisfied, nothing says you can't do it again. Hang on to you first projects and you will be surprised the progress you make after a few more.
  16. Well that should get something knocked of the bill! They look very nice.
  17. Ya know I like it.. You did a great job one this one.
  18. Make what you can without scaring them off. It helps buy supplies. That is a good thing.
  19. An attractive cutting of an attractive young lady. You co-worker will be very proud of that. Nice work.
  20. You did a mighty fine bit of work on that piece. Great cutting, fitting and coloring.
  21. Come on MEN, you gotta be brave, do it like I do... Buy some tool, sneak it into my work shop. By the time my wife notices, I tell her I got it a long time ago, she must have forgot....
  22. Beautiful, Mike. Thanks for remembering to post it. Very nice.
  23. Nice cutting. My neighbor has one of those I'd like to rescue from his junk yard and restore.
  24. Never tasted squirrel, but Ihave never tasted rat either. I'm not sure the ones we have are eating type. My neighbor brought them in, "because they are so cute". A while back I was talking to her and she said she just could not figure out why they did not stay around. I didn' t tell her it was because I have a nice quiet pellet gun! Sorry, but they destroy my walnuts. Wouldn't mind so much, but they just pick them when they are green and let them lay because they are not eatable yet. Such a waste... Also sorry, Dan, kinda hi-jacked the thread. I will say no more.
  25. Sorry, I know longer keep track, but I would guess, based on when I did try to keep track, that it was around 20 - 25 hours. Hard to keep track, I start one, keep it on the saw and will scroll every chance I get. Sometime I sit there for several hours, sometimes a few minutes. I made a log to fill out sometime ago but found out I'd rather scroll than filling in a logsheet..... It got forgotten pretty quickly.
