  1. Humm. that is not an easy cut with a band saw. If you don't have a dremel, I would cut the majority off in pieces with a hacksaw and them shape it with a grinder.
  2. I would not even attempt that on a scroll saw. I would worry about hurting the saw cutting that heavy of metal with it and all those metal filings can't do it any good. Hacksaw and a vice is what I would do. Just my thoughts.
  3. Love them both, Mike. I bet the mother nature one gets a lot of conversation where ever it get hung. On the quail one, I've had luck gluing some small pieces back in. In face most times I can not find where one was glued after the picture is done. Course this is assuming you can find the piece that broke out. I'm finding Mike's patterns a more slow going that Charles'. I working the moose, and it is taking a loooog time. Been on it quite a while and still only on the brush along the bottom of the picture!
  4. Very nice, Dick. You are a busy man!
  5. Very good cutting.
  6. Always look forward and enjoy your posts, Hans. Not only is your work beautiful it is always an inspiration. I love your diversity in the items you make. They are all art quality. Thank you for sharing them with us. Keeps me trying harder.
  7. Plan B does not change the hight, thickness or anything about the existing table. Anyone ever made a router table and use a router plate to hang your router from. This is the same theory. the existing table is inset in the melanime and the scroll saw is screwed to the metal table,
  8. Well, teenagers have not changed! He has now informed me he does not want to do the table top. I'm disappointed, but I can also vaguely remember what it was like being a teenager ( that was a long, loooong time ago for me!) Thinking about it I have a plan "B" that may work. I'll make it out of melamine MDF left over from my router table build. Inset the existing table just like I did the router plate on my router table. What do you think?
  9. Might have to experiment with different blades a little, but it should cut nicely. Please give us a followup on this story.
  10. I just purchased some yesterday from my local ACE Hardware. Fact today (and yesterday) is a 20% off all you could fit in a brown paper bag day. That is why I went. Might check your ACE if you have one.
  11. Good suggestion, Dick. Maybe look at it this way, I do not subscribe to any magazines, because I can get the info, patterns and advice I need more selectively and timely on a forum like this. Maybe donate the cost of a subscription to the forum.
  12. Love the cutting, but do not have a clue who Freddie is.
  13. Very nice job, John. Your nephew will love it. I've made a few toys and it is great fun. Fun to make and even more fun to give to some little child.
  14. I be tempted to find some place to hang it and spray it with a rattle can of finish of choice. Might have to move it around some or change position of it hanging but I bet you'd get most of it. Not to self on my current project, finish pieces of box before assembly.....
  15. Gator you are making it awful difficult to convience people Dearing patterns are difficult the way you are popping them out! That is a great job on that pattern.
  16. Great minds. I saw a tutorial on such baskets yesterday. Went to Scroller online and ordered two books of scroll saw patterns for the price of one. Something to add to my bucketlist of things to make. You did a great job on yours. The pyro is a very nice touch. I'm not that talented.
  17. If it is any help, here is my setup. narrow enough to stradle and convient storage. I really like it except for I have locking wheels on it and I have to get down on my knees to lock them. That is why I am considering making another mobil base like I mention. Then I can lock it in place with my toe.
  18. I think I wish I could do as well. Great job.
  19. Nice work and very nice caring thought.
  20. Hey, Steve, that is really nice!
  21. Good job Hans, really puts me in the mood to get the RV ready to go.....
  22. Great job Gator. I also have that pattern and I tried to cut it once, only smaller. I didn't make it. Have not tried it a second time but I well. I too hope I do somewhere near as good as you have.
  23. I got a set of plan from Wood Magazine website for a mobile base like this (better picture here: http://www.woodmagazine.com/ideas/wood-shop-showcase/idea-shop-3/?page=5) I have made and use three of them for various machines. I love them, easy to make and work great. I have a stand made for my scroll saw, (I do not like the metal stands) out of part of a kitchen cabinet that I got for free. I have wheels under the cabinet, but am thinking of making another one of these bases to set the cabinet in.
  24. I agree with most, for repetitive cuts of larger item, as you are doing, a template is the way to go. If you get into small thing or fret work, here is a nice little video of different ways to attach/remove patterns.
  25. Very nice Hans. I couldnot do that with flat blades! I did a little snowflake the other day with flat blades. It was such a struggle!!
