Thank you all for the nice words. The 15 hours is a guess and was spread over about 10 days. Just for my own interest I think I am going to start keeping a log on the time. Seems like most people ask that question also.

Just finished cutting this one this evening. It is a pattern done by Seyit from the patterns in the Pattern Library. I stacked cut it in two 1/8" baltic birch plywood. Took me probably 15 hours. Used 2/0 and 3/0 Flying Duchman spiral blades. Now I have promised myself no more cutting until I finish and frame the ones I have completed.

Welcome. I'm new here myself and have not been scrolling long. The more I learn, the more I enjoy it. This is a good place to learn and also a good place to get free patterns. Don't be afraid to try any, even the ones that look difficult. Relax, have fun and do to one hole at a time.

I would have voted for a darker blue back ground, please don't tell your wife, but that is me and it still turned out very nice as is.

That looks great to me! I really like your modification and think it would work well on other things also. Nice job!

Heat (as in heat gun) works also, however you have to be very careful or you will scorch the wood. There are so many thing vinegar is good for. Just wish they made it smell better.

Unfortunatly I don't have a saw mill any where near me and on the west coast we don't have all the neat woods you all have futher east. We do have alot of black walnut in our area, but little means of milling it without having to haul it a long ways. Hard to say my favorite wood. Depend on what type of woodworking I am doing at the moment. I do like currly maple, cherry, english walnut, etc.

I have that pattern saved from a while back. Hope to do it in the not too distant future. Hope mine comes out as well as yours. I have moved to the more detailed patterns lately because of some advice given me on another forum. I was admiring some of Charles Dearing's work and stated I wanted to be able to scroll like him someday. One of the members said give it a try, just worry one cutout at a time. So I did and found that maybe I'm not as good as Charles Dearing, but I can do more difficult patterns than I thought. It is certainly worth trying. Right, Dick? I bet you do more of the more detailed patterns now.

The flamed elder is one of my favorite woods. Very pretty boxes. I'm sure they will all be very pleased.

You really put out the fine work. I have not tried doing any of this word type scrolling, but will eventually. What types of blades do you use for it?

Looks like you got it done in good fashion. Glad you stated that though, I have a couple I was planning on cutting that are photos. I never thought of it not being perfectly square. But, now that you mention it, seems pretty obvious.
