  1. That makes it even better!
  2. I bet if you have any kind of electronic shop around, they could repair you board for even less. Maybe even a computer repair shop.
  3. Great to meet you and have you join the village. We have anotherNew Zealander on here with a great big beard, well at least his avatar shows one. looke forward to getting to know you and seeing your work. I am from the state of Washington, in the upper NW part of the USA.
  4. Hummm, I still like you Barb... that is bad news... for sure. Dave, maybe there is a way you could redo the text in some of you wonderful intarsia but scrolling it in a light piece of wood made to look like a scroll, something like the attached below. Just a thought.
  5. That is a neat one Charlie. Like I have said I will be cutting that one. Just looking for the perfect piece of wood.
  6. you are good at it. You could have been great friend with Robert Stroud. I made a lot of them when I was doing turning. My wife and daughter loved them.
  7. Very, very well done Dave. Which is your usual standard. Awesome describes it, for sure.
  8. Those are great carvings. I always wanted to be a carver, but my hands just do not carve what my eyes see and my mind thinks they should do. I have some nice carving knives. but in this case better tools did not help. It seems my grand children do not have any interest in working with their hands other than clicking on a keyboard or cell phone. Sad. One grandson really has some artistic talent for drawing, but it has faded as he has gotten into the teen years. Maybe it will come back when he gets older. If they play on phones or computer there is instant results. Woodworking art work, etc. takes some patience.
  9. In wood turning we use micro mesh. It is clothe backed and lasts a long timeI used it to finish pens. went from 1500 grit to up past 6K grit I believe. It was for wet sanding. You could also get it foam backed. Probably more them you would want.
  10. You got to have alcohol to scean offs the vood agter vou sahthes its.
  11. I took the liberty to have it translated via the computer, hope it is correct; Hello everyone, firstly I want to say that I am safe in my city Kherson, at the moment the city is occupied by Russians, There are many Russian military in the city (patrols, checkpoints). We try not to leave the house unless necessary. There is already a shortage of medicines in the city, there are practically no goods in stores, because there are no goods - the Russians are not allowing anyone into Kherson, not even humanitarian aid. There are many farms in the Kherson region, and after the Russians allowed entry into the city from neighboring villages (with full car searches and document checks), many farmers brought meat and vegetables into the city, but the prices are very high and there are long queues. Peaceful rallies are held in the city center almost every day. At first the Russians ignored it, a few days ago they started shooting in the air to disperse the rally, and yesterday they used smoke grenades, people were injured from grenade fragments. This is what is happening in Kherson. And now the good news - I'm creating a new website "Scroll Saw Gallery" (my Etsy store is also open), photos from my clients. I would be grateful if you could send your photo to my email - [email protected] Here is the link - Scroll Gallery https://www.scrollsawpatterns.biz
  12. Could it be that the clamp is bad. If you clamp too tight you can spread the clamp so the caps do not push flat on the blade. That look like steel, I know on the aluminum You have to be careful of that.
  13. This is my setup, works fine for me. I also use a on/off foot witch instead of the deadman. I switched a couple months age. One switch for the saw, one switch for the vac. I do not have my vac attached to my saw switch because I do not like it going on and off all the time like my saw does. Seems to me the constant on/off of the vac would wear it out quicker. Just my theory, not facts to back it.
  14. Frank, I am just telling you this, because I know how it goes in my shop...You laid your glasses on the scroll saw table if you are looking for them. That is how I spend my time in my shop, looking for where I laid my darn glasses! Nicely arranged shop.
  15. Nice work!
  16. Kinda normal if you were to ask me! Ive seen that pattern is it a schwibbogen Pattern? and Arch? I love those, I have made two and would like to make more.
  17. @kmmcrafts. One more question, I emailed the seller to verify the PDF version.. He sent me this example: which is good but it does not show the background pattern.. Is that included for each ornament? So there are two patterns for each ornament? Just wanting to make sure, most I will have paid for a pattern(s). I got stung once before ordering patterns for lasers and the pdf pattern made no sense. I would really like to have these. If I have to worry the cost of the ornament patterns you surely know I cannot afford to buy a laser... Know I can't scroll the outer text been thinkind of decal for that. It has worked for me in the past.
  18. Very nice. Would not have noticed missing pieces had you not mentioned them. One could make them 3 layered so they would look the same no matter which way they turn when hanging.
  19. Nice, very nice!
  20. We have several neighbors here that are in the UK, hopefully they will chime in and give advice. Welcome to the forum. Glad to have you move into the village.
  21. Reminds me of the old show route 66. Every teen my age watched it and dreamed of a life like that. Nice cutting.
  22. Well done, Dick. Owls are always popular, Everytime I go out side in the dark, the owls are hooting like crazy. Seems like there are getting more and more of them in our area. I wish the little burrowing owls would come back. Unfortunately they are no longer to be found in our area.
  23. Anxious to see the finish product!
  24. One of the great features of my jet drill press the chuck closes all the way. I drill holes with a #70 bit lots of times.
