  1. Humm. I Thought I responded to this. Sure I had something smart to say about it. I'm thinking I type a response than accidentally click on the "other Media" button instead of "Submit Reply". Any way what I think I said although these are not patterns I would cut I do admire and appreciate the talent both in pattern making and scrolling... Really awesome work on both.
  2. Well that was quick! Great job Mr Ralph. You gave the knives a shot and a good shot it was.
  3. Yep I had a Craftsman for years. Didn't do much sawing with it only maybe a couple times a year.. What it really did for me what gave me a base so I could judge each new saw by and made me appreciate each new saw a whole lot more. But I I still have some fond memories of the old craftsman.
  4. Oh, now you are just showing off!! Those are great. very nice for sure. Will the heat of a hot pan affect the clay?
  5. I don't remember turning it on, but I have the Fein dust extractor (vacuum), call it a dust extractor and they can charge more. It has right round the same noise level as the Festool, and yes I get tired of even hearing it. But I hate to wear ear protection so I put up with it. And you are welcome anytime, I learned more from you than you learned for me. I think the Festool may be a better, longer lasting unit. My first Fien had a 3 year warrenty, it worked great for 3 years arced and sparked on 3 year, 3 months to the day... Like it had a timer set. I only purchased a second one because there was a sale and I only needed the vacuum, I already had all the attachments. My dust collection works at, I would say a B level. There is still dust, have not perfected the collection under the saw.. But it is greatly diminished from when I had none. Easy to make dust collection for a scroll saw, only costs a little PVC pipe and connecting pieces. Mine is modeled after what many have done on here. I would and will send you a picture, but if you search it you will/should see quite a few and each has some variation, which will give you different ideas which may be better than mine. It is fun to make and switch around to see what you like best. Some of my parts have not been glued yet because I know it is an ongoing project. Again Marie.. welcome any time.. as are any scrollers that happens to want to come. I always have such a good time and develop such great friendships. If the scroller happens to be an impersonator and not really a good scroller person I know how to deal with them.
  6. When companies do not respond to my inquiries they do not get my business. If they have phone numbers and contact info they should be polite enough to respond, if they don't shows me they do not care.
  7. I don't worry about my wife it is my daughter, last month when she was here she took all I and and the metal tree I had them hanging on. Means I get to make more. Most I had that she took were done on my lathe. She likes them both ways.
  8. I always have similar reaction to cocobolo. But it is one of my favorite woods so I use it anyway, just not often.
  9. You could go to their website and contact them to get an answer. Contact button is at the bottom of the page.
  10. I nerver get tired of seeing detailed cut pictures of the big cats. Very nice job!
  11. And a mighty fine job of it you did. I also really enjoy 3D cuttung.
  12. Very nice!
  13. Great cutting!
  14. That is wonderful! Awesome job!
  15. Never have done it that way but I knew the split in the table was for the blade. I have, on other excalibur type saws but the blade through the wood and then put the project with blade on the saw as you mention.
  16. Some of my greatest memories from when young, were the time spent Jack Rabbit hunting. Walking through miles of sagebrush, cheatgrass and around cactus. Driving my Dad's old jeep through the same with buddies on the front fenders, and on the roof, hunting Jack Rabbits. My Favorite of all my hunting experiences. This place was over run with them.. Then the farms moved in and the farmer did not appreciate feeding their crops to the Jack Rabbits. So they started poisoning them. Now days I get more excited seeing a Jack Rabbit than I do a deer, fox, coyote, or wild turkey. They are almost all gone. So when I received my Woodworker's Pattern Book by Jacob and Wayne Fowler, and saw this pattern of a Jack Rabbit, I stopped all other projects and cut it. My memorial to Mr and Misses Jack Rabbit. "Thanks For The Memories" Cut in Monkey Pod. Added a little of a dramatic background for affect.
  17. The minute it feels like you have to push the wood into the blade as opposed to it "melting" into the blade, or you start have difficulty controlling the blade, time to change. And like all things there are a lot of factors. You cannot put a time limit on it. What your are cutting, What wood you are using, what type blade you are using. I Probably, and I have never timed it, just a guess, but I would say on average I may get 20 minutes out of a blade. But again I do not set a timer, when I feel in the slightest that I am having to work to get the blade to go where I want, it is time for me to change. Right now I am cutting in 1/2" Monkey Pod, a little harder than Popular, maybe, but what I am cutting I want to be precise, I am using a #1 size blade and I have probably changed the blade every 10 minutes at the most. That is just me, your mileage may vary as they say. You may not want to go by what I say,, I have broken lots and lots of blades! But I am often trying different blades, different technics, different woods..expect to break blades.
  18. Yep, @MarieC is correct about Washington being called the evergreen state.. But whomever named it that has never been to the part of Washington I live in.. I live in the everbrown part. Use to be very arid, very dry, sage brush and cheatgrass, Jack rabbits, lizards and rattlesnakes. The only part sorta green is the color we that have lived here all our lives glow do to the atomic reactors that were built and operated here since WWII. But we are changing do to all land is being taken up with vineyard. Yep, changing our climate for sure. So there you go, eliminate wine and save the planet! I'd rather drink wine and enjoy the change. You can search state colors and not get much of an answer. Seems odd, every state has a state bird, state flower. Why not a state color? But back to the point, they are all nice, but I like the blue background the best. It just is prettier to me. More cheerful and I think you can pick the colors, most people would not have a clue about state color, state flower or state bird.
  19. I would say so, Lots of time, effort, and talent! Beautiful picture.
  20. I love those. Probably should try some. I ordered plans to a Model A a few weeks ago, a I think maybe little over my level. But I love those little guys!
  21. That is neat!
  22. I would be more curious if the right tension had different notes for different blades and different scroll saws. So many variables. I do pluck my blade every time I clamp one and before I turn the saw on, but I think I go more by the feel than the sound.
  23. Nice cutting. There are some neat patterns at that site. I was looking at one or two and the only way I could figure out how to cut it would be to cut out the white and leave the black. I think most would take skill my or hands don't have any more.
  24. That is a real beauty.
