  1. Wow just a good ole boy . Thanks for sharing this.
  2. I use a 4 1/2" grinder with a coarse flap sanding disc on it. The disc last a fair long time and it gets the job done in fairly short order. The problem I have had with the wire brushes is after a while they tend to shed some of the bristles and can stuck in you . Just a thought for consideration .
  3. One thing I have learned about blades . If it works for you and your cutting style then everyone is happy . I use FD blades, I like them and they fit my style really well. I have tried other blades and not had the success with them I thought. Like a lot of others, I have followed the discussions on the Pegas MG blades and it piqued my curiosity so I tried them. To me I just prefer the FD. I'm am quite sure that given enough time and practice any blade could be learned and mastered. A good example would be spirals for those that don't use them a lot. I can go between spiral and flat with little problems, although this was not the case when I first started using spirals, took a while to learn them . Just like starting out scrolling, practice and patience has a huge effect on the outcome of many aspects of this hobby. Be patient, practice, learn and enjoy the experience . Of course this is just my opinion and experience through my never ending learning curve.
  4. Good to see you up and about, even if it is limited for now. Saw dust therapy is some of the best there is. Take your time and be wise about it all. Glad to hear your doing much better and wishing you continued healing and patience during the process. Keeping you in prayer along the way .
  5. The Laguna 14/12 has had great reviews . It's on my list of things to purchase in time.
  6. I use a wooden bar stool that I cut about 2 inches of the bottom of the legs. Comfortable and the seat swivels has no back on it .
  7. The pattern was made by Sue Mey. Here is the link to her site/pattern. Hope this helps. https://www.scrollsawartist.com/fretwork-overlay-clock.html
  8. Nice to see someone taking interest . Wished my family would have.
  9. Good luck Don. Glad Paul helped you out. Had the link copied to post here for you. If you have any question feel free to ask.
  10. True talent vision and patience . Thanks so much for sharing this.
  11. Lock down seems to running rampant. Our Governor has the county I live is under it . I use spirals for certain things, mainly stuff ;larger then my saw. I find that taking your time and going slower helps a lot. I use a lot of 0/3 and don't have many problems with it. Going slow keeps the heat down and gives better control . As for moving around the pattern I go what ever way the lines are running. Keep in mind these cut in 360 degrees so they are almost always cutting some wood which makes it a little harder to keep them cooler. Best of luck, it's has it's own learning curve.
  12. Glad it was just the window . Could have been much worse.
  13. We just got notice that the three shows that were scheduled have been cancelled. 2 of the promoters are going to send our checks back. The one already cashed the check and waiting to hear what they are doing. Our Governor has cancelled all the schools for 2 weeks, not allowing any gathering of people over 250, and if you can work from home to do so. We had 1 case in the county below us and the rest were on the other side of the state . There are several more shows next month we are not sure of yet. Praying for all for good health and safe passage through this time of turmoil and illness .
  14. I'm set on wood and finishes. TP not a problem the Mrs. and I just bought a huge package before the surge of everyone grabbing it.Hand sanitizers is a different story though. With the way things are we haven't been going out much . People are just plain crazy out there anymore.
  15. I've been using either luan or BB with felt glued to it. Normally black but depending on the piece that can be changed to a different color. I have also used the American Flag for certain pieces.
  16. Sounds like a good time for all. Would be nice to attend something like this.
  17. Hoping to make the one in May in Lancaster. There is some beautiful country up there.
  18. I don't understand why you want to do this. I would go with a drum sander for the sake of safely alone. If you are trying to achieve this thickness for like mounting in dado's and grooves then I would simply make the dado's and grooves to match the ply.
  19. I had this issue too. What I do now it open the font. On the (name).ttf I place my mouse cursor over it. Then I right click and select install for all. This works for me. Hope this helps you guys out also. This should work for any font file, not just the true type fonts. I used that as an easy example.
  20. I normally spray my stuff. Shellac dries really fast as the stuff I use is mixed with denatured alcohol ( flammable ) and not good for the lungs . Same precautions as spraying lacquer . As for the number of coats of lacquer , the would be defined as the among on protection and sheen you want. Lacquer gets sanded between coats then cleaned, then shot again. Until you acquire the finish you were looking for. Sorry for the late reply, been busy in the shop .
  21. I do a few pieces over 3 foot. I use spiral blades to cut them. I lot of people don't like spirals but when you get usd to them and take you time things work out. Spend some time practicing on scraps of wood.
  22. Shellac would work as a good base. I use a lot of it on the furniture I build . I also top coat with lacquer for a more durable finish . I do a lot of crosses on my scroll saw, I always finish them in Satin . Seems to make the art work appear better at least to me. Nice job cutting that looks really great.
  23. Either Pegas or Seyco would be good choices. I have dealt with Ray at Seyco and cust service is very high. As for now I am enjoying my Ex - 21 that is about 5 years old and still working perfectly.
  24. I think it is a great thing to see everyone joining in where they can to help out. I have sent them some money and think that adding something to shows for continued support would be great.
  25. Looks like your making progress Paul. I really enjoy this type of cutting. Keep up the great work and posting photos of your progress.
