  1. I have had to fine tune all the power tools I own. New out of the box and freshly assembled in my shop. The only exception was my Excalibur Saw. I bought it from Ray at Seyco and it was perfect out of the box. You do have to tune all your equipment up after using it for a while, if nothing else to make sure square is square, 45* is 45* and so forth. Bolting down a scroll saw to a steady heavy base is a must. Makes an amazing difference in everything.
  2. cutting a single piece of 1/8" BB can be a challenge. I do it fairly often. I always use a zero clearance for cutting. Not much there to support the project at times. Using a fine toothed blade and controlling your blade and feed speed will help a ton. Like anything else it takes practice and patience when it comes to scrolling. Always remember this is fun and don't get too stressed out over things. Best of luck on your endeavor with the saw, wood and blades
  3. Iv'e been gaining interest in carving. Will be interesting in seeing how this works out for you. Maybe you could do a report on it ? In your free time of course

  9. Thinking a light ack ground would bring out the art work to high light it. Great work and cutting on this
  10. I use a fine tip sharpie then apply finish over it. I sign my name and the year it was created.
  11. The humming bird and grand father clock sound interesting, I would think a challenge for most of us. There are also some very detailed patterns for some domed clocks and towers available. Some cam be found at Fine Scroll Saw .
  12. I have an EX21 and love it. I started out on lower quality saws to see how it would go and if I was going to stay with it. I seriously would suggest something a long this path. Like said above, you may or may not like it. I know a lot of people that started with a DeWalt and were happy with it.
  13. I'M LUCKY I guess. My wife through the towel in and starting following sports with me, Guess I'm extremely lucky
  14. Wished I had a neighbor like that. Such is life.
  15. Bob cdr files are from corel draw. The dxf files are cad file drawings. Hope this clears up some things for you.
  16. I always use a piece of scrap behind what I am drilling. Prevents the blow out and helps keep things a lot cleaner.
  17. What is your project for Ray ?
  18. For outside finishes I use Spar Urethane. Works well and helps prevent uv fading. Hope this helps.
  19. Congrats, wishing you nothing but the best.
  20. Glad you were still in the shop and found the source. Could have been disastrous otherwise.
  21. This is a piece I just for a lady for her office wall.
  22. The hockey stick is due to the lower clamp adjustment. The knocking noise, could be a worn bearing. Had that issue when mine was under warranty and Ray got me straighten out. Take the blade out and gently move the arms to detect any play if you find any you probably found the issue. Really hard to describe, but a call to Ray at Seyco will be very helpful. Do you have the manual for it Dave ? It will be helpful also. If you need the manual I have electronic copies I can send you.
  23. I have been using the medical examining masks. They are fairly cheap and catch the finest of dust.
  24. Not sure how this saw is. Sounds like it was used pretty good. I would check it out and take if for a test drive, make sure no vibration etc . I have a 21" and love it. You could also call Ray at Seyco to make sure parts are available if needed. You can top or bottom feed this unit.
  25. Sorry to hear of your misfortune. I'm sure all of us have had that happen along our journey. I would use regular wood glue and then re sand it . Be careful on the amount of glue , and clean up the squeeze out as best you can. Wrap with tape and let sit over night. Best of luck.
