  1. Dave I compared the 2 saws. I bought the EX-21 from Seyco. It cost about twice the Dewalt, but I have no regrets. The Dewalt is a good saw the Ex was just my preference.
  2. Jerry I was doing the same thing, giving away my projects to our church, gifts etc. My pastor told me I should be selling them as well as a lot of other people. I started selling but still give as donations to organizations for raffles, gifts, and the like. It has brought me many blessings in return.
  3. Interesting indeed. I doubt I will ever try this in my shop, although the end results are beautiful.
  4. I use blue painters tape under my patterns. For glue I use 3M 77 spray. Also you can use mineral spirits and damped the pattern give it a minute and it will peel right off. Take the damp rag and wipe down the cutting to remove the glue left behind.
  5. Dave I hsave this saw. It is a back up saw for me. Had the same issues, made a zero clearance plate from a playing card. Replaced the wing nuts with allen head bolts. Sure needed a wrench to tighten but that saw lasted me for a good while. I run an EX-21 now. If your looking for a saw, the Dewalts are worth looking at. About 1/2 the price of the Ex.
  6. Was going to suggest a wipe on poly, dries fairly quick and builds to a great shine. NC Scroller has the right mix for it also.Something I love about the village. Everyone can offer solutions and nobody seems to be afraid to help .
  7. I have been following this subject as I just purchased an EX-21. Love the saw. Maybe give Seyco a call and see they what have to offer for help? That's where I ordered mine from, and understand the customer service is top notch.
  8. Double check your network settings. I have at times had to unplug my router and modem to get things back to working again.
  9. I would guess about 7 years. Went through 4 cheaper saws before getting my EX-21.
  10. I have seen where people have adapted a regular vacuum cleaner for a dust collector. It is quieter then a shop vac and the hose is flexible. You can also adapt some pvc pipe to hook up a dust collection system and move it to a remote location so it is quieter.
  11. Nice to find / have old wood like that to use. I'm a little jealous Great video. Thanks Tom.
  12. I save mine as pdf. Then print in poster under the options.
  13. Love them. Would make nice comical plaques.
  14. I have been using a typical padded bar stool seat. I shortend the legs about 2 inches for the right height for me. Being all wooden and years of use, it needs to be tightened up but love it.
  15. Stunning photos. Would be exciting building a puzzle from them.
  16. I still order mine from Mike's Workshop. No difference in service even on the phone. So happy they continued the great service and prices,
  17. Good to know. The Mrs. and I are looking at property in Corpus Christi. Would be nice to find a place for a day trip.
  18. Great to hear. Should keep ya busy for quite a while. Still trying to get my grandkids interested enough to share time with them.
  19. I have a HP6520. Love it. Does great all around. Ink price is a little steep though. It s wireless and prints from my phone great quality but like I said. Ink price would be the draw back.
  20. Never thought about using balsa wood. Made lots of planes from it and other things. Light weight but very weak. I have used basswood with great results for compound cutting and intarsia.
  21. Jim Great job on your first pattern. Learning is a very exciting place to be. Congrats on taking the leap. We are start at the beginning. Other then the the bridges, I would widen the names on the sub letters a little bit. Great job. Your definitely on you way
  22. Happy for you Merlin. I use mine a lot for all kinds of different things. Hoping you receive many years and joy with the new toy.
  23. I just order by the gross or 1/2 gross. Never had a problem.
  24. I sit on a stool. I made my own stand and the ex-21 is just below chest high.
  25. Good luck. Great advice above. The main thing I did was kept it fun and enjoyed it. If you have the ability, maybe show a short video of the saw in action. Keep us posted on how it went. I'm sure it will good and fun.
