  1. I thought everybody outside of California had basements to work in. No? Wow!
  2. I have a few unfinished. Mainly because I have never learned the art of finishing. Other than dipping in oil or a few coats of poly, I don't know how to really get the finish that I can be proud of. Dave Monk has it mastered but he is lucky enough to have the space to work in and has purchased all the right equipment. I know you have it down pat, but I have never figured it out. I have one cutting that is waiting for me to come up with a frame for it but I can't seem to find what I want for wood or design. So, no, you aren't alone.
  3. Yeah, I do appreciate your suggestion but what I really was looking for was a way to get around the $50+ cost of a Hegner replacement bellows. The CV boot has worked out well. I used one on both of my Hegners. I have since sold one but the other is doing fine. Thanks again.
  4. Not what I wanted. I don't need or want another cord to get tangled up.
  5. There ya go Paul. Finally an idea that I might be able to work with. Thanks Buddy.

Or any local charity organization. We try to stay away as much as possible from the nation-wide giants. Things aren't always what they seem with them. So true. When their leaders make 7 figure salaries, something smells.
  7. That is the one thing that she still wants me to make. I had the patterns all printed at FedEx but then life got in the way. She fell and broke her leg and nothing has been the same since.
  8. I'm sure if I did a search that I might find a craft show but they are scarce around me. So. Cal. is a strange place. Not like "small-town America. Everything is about the dollar. If I do find a show, I'm sure they would charge a fee to sell.
  9. For some reason toys are just not my thing. I thought about them but decided they would not whet my appetite.
  10. I like making boxes, bowls and baskets. I must admit though that I have not mastered the finishing process.

For years I contemplated building my own custom router table, while struggling with the old Craftsman table I've had since about 1979. A few years ago I was in Lowes looking for something else, when I stumbled on a Bosch router table that they had marked down. It has a couple quirks that I've adapted to and a weakness with the fence mounting that I intend to rework, one of these days. But it is a huge improvement over my old Craftsman. Who knows? Maybe I'll still build that dream router table someday, but this one does everything I need it to do. I have this same table. I'd be interested in what you don't like and find a fix for. I use a Dewalt router in it and it works for what I need it for.
  12. I have a problem begging for an answer. I love making stuff. BUT, here's the problem. My wife informed me she has no room or need, for any more of my "creations". So the question is, what do you good people do with your stuff? I've given things to friends and family. Not sure if they need any more. I'm not into selling because I get bored making the same things over and over. Any suggestions?
  13. I'm with her.
  14. This brings me to tell, once again, how when I was 8 years old my parents asked me if I'd like to learn a musical instrument. I said yes, a guitar. So they bought me an accordion and 8 miserable years of lessons. I learned to HATE the accordion.
  15. What was the cause?
  16. Another thought just came to mind. Most all of us use foot switches to start and stop our saws. That could present a problem because the variable controller is not being "exercised" the way it was intended. It could be building up a corrosion of some sort on the winding of the pot and make it start acting funny. It might be wise of us who do use foot switches to give the knob a twirl each time we use the saw just to clean the build-up off the winding and its moveable contact part.

There must be someone in your world that knows how to use a multimeter. I went back and reread your original post. You never really explained what your saw is doing. How exactly is it acting and what is your complaint? All you said was that it just keeps getting worse. What does that mean?
  18. I feel your pain. Traffic sucks! Even without the road rage.

  20. I wrote to him through Messenger yesterday afternoon and he replied to me this morning. I suggested that he join SSV as we have quite a few Hegner owners here who may or may not have questions. He said he would check out the site and let me know. He truly does know a ton about the Hegners.
  21. There is a club here in Orange County, Ca. that meets at the Rockler Store in the city of Orange. The problem for me is not the distance but the traffic nightmare. It's bad enough that I would almost make it an overnighter just to attend. Unless you live here, you can't imagine how bad it is to go anywhere. And then there is the excessive cost of gasoline.
  22. I was going to suggest him also. I've read everything he has written. A very good source for info on Hegner saws. And, If you write to him with a question or comment, he will respond pretty quickly.
  23. Me too on the 20 amp circuit. When I wired my shop, I put in 2 circuits. One 15 amp for all the lighing and the 20 amp for my power tools and all outlets.
  24. That's too bad. Sorry to hear that.
  25. I've had good service from Wen customer service. Wen.com.
