  1. There is a special place in Hell for the environmentalists and the politicians that allow this crap to happen. We still can't buy mineral spirits in the county where I live. I managed to buy a gallon through Amazon and it was shipped in from Georgia.
  2. Here on the west coast I like Cherokee wood products. Talk to Chris. He runs their online business and they specialize in scroll woods. Their shipping is as good as it gets.
  3. I tried one but the glue still dried up. I threw it away. I don't think there is anything that really works. I just try to keep the tip clean on my Titebond bottle.
  4. It seems everybody has some weights of some sort. I have no exercise equipment of any kind. Oh wait, I've got a treadmill that sits in the corner of my office. Unused.
  5. I saw that too. It looks like a 20 inch frame.
  6. Looks like a great deal.
  7. In my case, I'm lacking enthusiasm to finish my current project. I've never done anything with acrylic colors before so I'm sort of flying blind and not enjoying myself. I can't even blame it on weather as we have the best there is. Just can't get going. I think I'll side-line this one and move on to something fun.
  8. Judging from the activity here at SSV, it must be very, very hot and rainy out there. I hope everybody is OK.
  9. Sounds like maybe your saw blade is not true to vertical. Have you done a good tune up of your saw. A minor adjustment can make a huge difference. There are some good videos on doing a tune-up.
  10. We looked at Kingman. I really liked it there. But we heard that it's very windy there so decided against it. Best of luck. I envy you.
  11. For some reason I never think of doing that. Could you maybe PM me and give me a short tutorial on how to do it? I can send you the pattern if it would help to explain it.
  12. Where ya going? I'd love to move and find a place with a garage. At 81 it becomes a daunting task though.
  13. Yeah, a 2nd would have been ok.
  14. Martin is snakebit. Somebody should inform him that 19 is his car number. Not where he's supposed to run.
  15. There has been a lot of discussion on this subject. I don't know if there is a right or wrong method but anything you do will help. A good respirator mask is the first thing to buy. Check out the Wen air cleaner. I love mine. Good luck.
  16. @FrankEV made a sled a while back. Maybe he will chime in.
  17. Thanks to all. I checked with Frank and he said what you all have suggested. I must have printed my first patterns from Acrobat and just forgot. I'm old!
  18. I did that. I ungrouped, resized and grouped. I've checked printer settings. There are none that would affect the size.
  19. 32 minutes ago, Wichman said: Ray, I've been looking at the pattern. Are you sure you got all three lines of the outside of the pattern (the squares)? If you only got the dashed inside lines it would print 1/4" short. I've printed it a few times in my efforts to find a fix and have had it come out multiple ways. I've cut the outer panels and now need 5 copies to make stencils/masks for painting the colored details that will show through. So they must be a correct match to the scrolled pieces. I hope you understand what I'm trying to explain.
  20. Thanks but the pattern within the rectangle has to be increased by the same ratio. I'm really looking for the reason why this is happening and what the fix is.
  21. I hope so. He needs a win just to stay in the running. His luck sucks. As does his pit crew. I hope he doesn't retire.
  22. @TravisI've run up a stump on a project. I'm using a pattern that was shared by FrankEV for a tissue box cover and it calls for dimensions of 5/0" x 5/5". I imported the pattern into Inkscape and broke it apart using the Object/Ungroup command to get just the pattern off the page that also held instructions for building. That all went well. I isolated the pattern and specified document settings of 8/5" x 11.0" letter size paper. The pattern will not print the actual size. I've sized the pattern for the above dimensions but it keeps printing a 1/4" short on both sides. I'm tired of wasting paper and toner trying to figure out what I'm doing wrong. Can anybody give me some help? I'm using my Brother laser printer and I've never run into this problem before. Frank's patter came on 11" x 17" format but specified 8.5 " x 11.0" paper. I'm stumped. 23. Whoever is in charge of paint should be moved to customer service. Just sayin.....
  24. OMG!! What must it be like to have all that space?
  25. Frank, it's so obvious that you truly enjoy your work. I am trying to get my feet wet with the adding color thing but so far, it's more a lesson in frustration. Mostly my ignorance and no artistic imagination. You've mastered it and I envy you. Everything you've done as of late is truly beautiful. Please keep them coming. I am enjoying every one of them.
