    My youngest son has followed in his old man's footsteps and is proudly selling Cornwell Tools. Their first line hand tools are all made in USA. Their toolboxes are all made in USA. They sell a lot of Milwaukee power tools and my son says they are top quality. The many tools that they sell which are not made by Cornwell are made in many places but all are top quality. Cornwell Tools is still privately owned by their employees and sold on trucks owned and operated by licensed dealers. If you want to be your own boss, I highly recommend the mobile tool business.

    It's late but not TOO late. If we all make the effort to buy American we can do it. I know what it's all about trying to save money. I'm retired and on a fixed income but I still TRY to shop for U.S. products. Heck, I even have 2 American cars and an American motor home. I really try to shop U.S.A.

    I guess if you are making a lot of large fretwork or portraits it would matter but for what I make, I have no problem with the short table.

    Well, I realize it has taken 40+ years to get us to this point and it will take as long to wean us off the Chinese stuff but we have to make an effort if we want to keep this country going.

    My wife and I are trying very hard to not buy Chinese goods. It's difficult but we only do it if we can't find a U.S.A. made equivelant.

    I use a program called "aTubewatcher" to download videos from youtube to my computer. After downloading all 4 of them I used Windows MovieMaker to stitch them all together into one movie. I referred to it often when I had my 788.

    You might consider "shopping" around for a better price Les. There has to be more than one motor shop. Or another idea is to put a "want to buy" on eBay with all the specs of your motor and sit back and wait to see if one comes up. I see lots of old parts on there all the time. You could build a complete "old" bandsaw from parts on there but it would cost a fortune to do it that way. Worth a try though. Send me the info and I'll see what I can find.

    Congrats on your new saw. If it's half as good as my EX's, you'll love it. I'm curious though as to why you opted not to buy a Pegas. Any reason?

    Welcome to the Village. As said above, there is a mountain of knowledge here. Just ask and you will be answered. This forum is very well attended at pretty much all hours of the day. Also, I know for me, and I'll bet the others too, would all like to see the chess set you have spent 5 years working on. Pics make all things believable. Glad you found us.

    There is definitely a need for both saws. At some point, I may look around for a small Hawk but it'll be after our move, If that happens. Still up in the air. For the foreseeable future we are sort of grounded until this stupid covid thing is over. I suspect that after the election, it will disappear as fast as it appeared. JMHO.

    At this point in time, I've not found it to be a big deal regarding the front of the table. If it ever does, I'll make some sort of an extension or add-on table. Or, as I mentioned 3 pages back, I'll just re-drill the holes and move it myself.

    Les, you mentioned that you didn't want to "blow" the dust around. When you are going to be cutting cedar, why not put a box fan next to your saw with a furnace filter attached and blowing away from the saw. Then you can aim your blower right at the point of cut and the dust will be picked up by the furnace filter. Not 100% but pretty much. I have done this with very cheap filters. In fact I bought a 4 pack for about 4$ at H/D. and bungee'd two on each side of the fan. It's amazing how much they catch. You wouldn't have to do that with anything else, just the cedar. A thought!

    That's weird. I just sold my 226VS Ultra, serial number 15763. It was made in 2000-1. The serial on yours is much higher than mine so it must mean that serial numbers really don't mean much.

    It sure is. We visited our friends in Dandridge and they took us to the Great Smokey Mountains State Park. Beautiful country. Gatlinburg and all those towns around there are fun. Dollyworld is still on our bucket list.

    That's awesome Brenda. I hope you got a good one and your troubles are over. Now just get that old one resurrected and you'll wonder whant to cut next. I know having two great saws, the biggest problem is figuring out which saw to use. That's not a bad problem to have. Best of luck with your new toy.

    I know he is back to trucking again. Not that he wanted to but it became a necessity. He's had a tough run of luck over the last few years. I hope God shines on him and his wife at some point and they get a break. I go back and forth with him on Messenger almost daily.
