I made a plaque for friends in Tennessee. The scrolled part was painted black and the backer board was painted white. They were both 5/16" thick BB. I didn't glue them at all. I just shot about 4 or 5 5/8" brads in from the backside. I never even thought about gluing them. Hmmmmmm!

I would have to think that gluing first would be the way to go as long as squeeze out is controlled. If it was staining, I'd say the opposite but paint will cover over glue and should stick to it. Just my two cents worth.

Thanks Dave. I wonder if you were to click/drag around the entire drawing if it would delete them all. I'll have to try that. I'm starting to get the hang of this program but it is still very baffling. I'd sure love to have an expert sitting beside me for a couple of hours. Any takers?

So, if I'm understand you guys correctly, where I connect my Fein to my pvc drops it from 1 1/4" down to 1". Then it goes down ever farther when it enters the LockLine stuff that is 3/4". Should I replumb this thing back up to 1 1/4" pvc all the way to the end? I'm not sure you can buy LockLine in that size.

Thanks Dan. I just ordered a gross of Pegas #5 MGT. I was using them on the cedar and they seemed to be the best of what I tried. I don't have any of the FD Polar. I will have to order some.

Absolutely the truth Paul. That's why I have so much unneeded crap laying around. I'm a person who hates to toss something that might be of use. Even if that use never materializes.

Exactly the same problem I have Paul. The hissing sound coming from the nozzle is the loudest thing in my shop. But, I just try to ignore it because there is no "free lunch" so to speak. Something has to make noise. My hearing started going downhill when I was a teenager. I used to go to the drags and loved listening to the Art Arfons jet dragster as it went by me. Then, in the Army, on maneuvers one time, I was unlucky enough to be standing between to M48 tanks as they fired simultaneously. The air turned orange and I couldn't hear for an hour. Then constant ringing in my ears. I sold tools for almost 40 years so I was in and out of all kinds of shops and it was always noisy. I have tinnitis too. So, at 75 years of age, I don't even think about trying to "save" my hearing. I never wear any kind of hearing protection. I just try to make everything I do as quiet as I can. The Fein vac and my dust control system works great but the hissing noise is still bothersome.

Dave, question, is there a way to do a "trace-bit map" and then delete all the nodes. The pattern I am trying to work with has about a zillion nodes around it and it would be nice to eliminate all of them and create my own. Can you advise?

Yeah, the packaging is so nice, I am trying to figure out a use for it. I can't just toss it.

Just out of curiosity, how will the saw blades react to it? Will they go dull faster?

I think the tricky part is the "path--trace bitmap" thing. I did it on another pattern and didn't see that anything was happening. Then I found out that the new pattern is on top of the old pattern. Once I found that to be the case, I was able to move the new pattern off to the left and then move the original off to the right. I was then able to click on the new pattern and click on the "edit path nodes" icon and they all showed up. From that point on, it's just a matter of figuring out what to do next. Lots to learn.

Well, I'm not lucky enough to have heat or a/c but most of the time it's pretty comfortable in my little shop. My biggest problem is that is under a part of the aluminum driveway awning. Not sealed in any way from the ambient air. But, all in all, it's workable. If I had to live where it gets freezing cold or oven baking hot, I'd just sit in the living room and watch tv.

I'd be on the phone to the shipper. It's their responsibility to provide what you ordered. Tell them to ship another set. Overnight if necessary. Or, at least call your credit card company and have them hold the payment and then order from Qtena in California. Better price anyway.

I guess I'm going to have to get busy on my vac system for the EX. The one I made for the Dewalt works great.

I know this may not help you but for others who may not know about this place, Anderson Plywood in Anaheim, Ca. is fantastic. The owner is heavily involved with the Orange County Woodworkers group that makes toys for kids all year long and then donates them. He is also a veteran and has quite a museum of military artifacts on site. He loves to show it off. His prices are very good. Here is a link to their website. Surprise, surprise!!! I stopped in at Home Depot just on the off chance that I might find some mahogany. Well, they have quite a nice selection. They have it hobby wood and also in s4s lumber. I bought two pieces 24 inches long, 3/4" x 2 1/2". With my military discount and tax it came to right at $10. I was able to match them very closely for color and grain. I have no idea what the species is but the tag says mahogany so I have to believe that it is. Thanks to everybody for your help. I have learned a lot from this thread.

I'm not sure about the saw but I can tell you for sure that I'm not good below 60 degrees. I lose all interest in most everything when it gets too cold. That's why I live where I live. The good old Pacific Ocean acts as a radiator and keeps the temp swings pretty mild.

I just did as you suggested Dave and it works like a charm. Very easy to make any adjustments to the drawing. I think I might get to where I understand Inkscape yet.

Iggy, if you ever get the chance to pick up an EX, do it. I have both Dewalt and now the EX 21 and mine is made before they went overseas. I can't say enough good about this saw. And since I added the Pegas clamps, well, it just got even better. If the Pegas saw is made as well as my saw, it is going to be a winner.
