    Thanks to all. I think what is wrong is when I do exactly as you all have suggested, I see the file on my screen. I hit the save button and then I try to access the file that I have just uploaded and it takes me right to my desktop screen where I have the file. It then gives me a "save" option. I have already saved it a couple of times so that is not working. I'm going to try it one more time and see if you folks can access it. Maybe I can't access a file on my computer that I upload. Anyway, here it is again. Let me know if you can access it. Ray kennethstand.pdf

    Where did you find a stainless bolt with the correct thread? I haven't tried to find one so I'm asking. Might be a good idea to replace all the similar bolts at the same time. Ray

    I tried that and it did put a link to the .pdf file but the file is one my computer and that's where it goes. I want to actually upload the file to SSV.

    I'm vacuuming both top and bottom of the table. No more mess under the table. I still use the blower tube up top and have it aimed in such a way that it pushes the dust toward the upper vacuum tube. I bought the flex tube from here....http://www.loc-line.com/distributors/us-distributors/. I bought 3/4" stuff but when I make the set up for my Hegner, I'm going to make it out of 1/2" instead. Tighter quarters on the Heg. I also have a 20" box fan fitted with a furnace filter to the right of the saw. It pulls some of the dust that is airborn. Ray

    Thanks Jer but that's not my problem. I have plans for a saw stand that are in .pdf format. About 7 pages. I wanted to post the .pdf here or the .doc file after conversion. But, so far I haven't figured out how. I hate to post 7 pages of pics. Ray

    I am trying to post plans for a scroll saw stand that I built and it is in a .pdf file. I converted it to a Word file but I haven't had any success in posting either one. Can someone advise how to do this? Or if it is even doable? Thanks, Ray

    My shop is 9 x 13 and I have a lot of equipment in it. Two scroll saws. But with that said, the stand that I built for my Dewalt sits pretty much back in a corner but it will move. I have been trying to come up with some sort of "lift" mechanism so that it can be rolled but so far, I haven't found one I like. I don't want to lose the "firmness" that it now has. I did buy some of the H/F foam mat and put that under it so it doesn't move at this time and is very vibration free. Anyway, there are many ways to do it and the stand I built could have wheels incorporated into it. It depends on how creative you are. I don't recall where I found the plans. I made the top so that it can tilt to give me different working angles. Oh, and I also made a dust control system for for it that incorporates a Fein vacuum. I'll stick a pic here. Also the plans. I found them so I'm including them. Dang it. I'm having trouble posting the plans. I'll figure it out and post them. Ray

    First off, welcome to the SSV. Nothing but fine folks here. As to your question, how big of a hurry are you in? That's a big budget you have there and just about any of the top end saws will fit. You must first decide how much saw you are going to need. I for one started with a used Dewalt that I bought off of Craigslist for $250. I'm still learning to use it. But a deal came along on a used Hegner with all the current upgrades on it. I bought it for $300. That's a $1500 saw, So, the world is open to what ever you want to buy. Most of the people here who have jumped to the more expensive saws are using the Excalibur 21 inch. They were discontinued for a while but have recently come back on the market. There is a ton of info here on the SSV about them. Anyway, until you figure out how serious you are going to be with the hobby, I'd go for a good used Dewalt. And there are many out there. Try to find a Type 1 if possible but if you find a nice Type 2 that runs well, jump on it. You can always sell it later on and buy UP. Ray

    John, you are so right. I have tried so many times in so many ways to find my answers before asking the questions. I have spent many hours watching youtube videos regarding dust control but I could never find just what I was looking for. I came away with a ton of info to put in my memory bank. Then I came here and asked my question regarding dust control/Dewalt saw. That's when I got the answers I was looking for. In the end, I designed and built my own system but I incorporated what I had learned both here and on youtube. I guess what I'm trying to say is, even though there is no such thing as a "stupid question", do try to find some of the stuff on your own. You will be glad you did. I DO enjoy reading the questions and answers on different things here. I have even ventured out to the other forums here on SSV and found great enjoyment from most of them. This is a great place to hang out. Ray

    I used to sell tools for a living. The system that always baffled me was the British Whitworth. That system made no sense to me at all. If I recall, the measurement was the diameter of the fastener determined the head size of the bolt or socket or wrench. In other words, if the bolt was a half inch in diameter, the size of the socket was about 3/4" but it was called a 1/2". Very confusing. Luckily, I only had to sell those to the old motorcycle shops. Nothing much else used them. At least in my territory. I think I stocked one set of sockets and one set of wrenches on my truck just for that occasional customer. I'm glad they disappeared. Ray

    Of course your are correct Kevin. I only mentioned that he should watch the videos because it would give him a very good working knowledge of what makes his saw "tick". And, if someone does decide to re-grease his saw's bearings you are right on about cleaning out the old grease prior to installing new grease. I took Bob Brokaw's advice and bought a can of Valvoline synthetic grease and I use a pipe cleaner to clean and grease all the bearings and sleeves. It was because of the video that I found my vibration. When I took my saw apart, I found a very loose screw on the main drive link. That pretty much solved my problem but I still went ahead and inspected the rest of it. Ray

    I have asked many questions here and have been graced with many answers. I truly do appreciate all the help and friendly advice I have received. I do sometimes try to use the "search" function but most generally I'm in a hurry and just ask my question. The one thing that I DO TRY to do is re-read my question or response to someone else's question before I hit the "send" button. Even then, I will have to edit it at times so that it either makes more sense to the reader or to soften the sound of what I wrote. So far, I have had only one minor run-in and that was just blown off by me and all is well. I love this forum and until someone truly "pisses" me off, I'm not going away. Thanks to all for your kindness and it really is the newbies who keep the hobby alive and well. Ray Oh, and many thanks to Travis for creating and keeping this forum running smoothly. One of these days, I'm going to get all the way through the Inkscape videos.

    I strongly advise that you watch the four part series on youtube that goes into great detail on how to take apart and put together a Dewalt saw. It's not hard to find. I have captured all four segments and used Microsoft Movie Maker to make it into one movie. I watch it every once in a while just to remind myself of stuff.Ray
