  1. I just found this one on C/L. How does it sound? Looks to be in pretty good shape. https://inlandempire.craigslist.org/tls/d/scroll-saw-delta-20-used/6424360889.html Ray
  2. You beat me to it. I was going to suggest a fish tank pump. They work great. Ray
  3. Wow! I see it's in Milwaukee. I'm surprised it's not a rust bucket. Ray
  4. I'm wondering if the eyelets of the swivels were large enough, to put the blade clamp screws found on most scroll saws, through the eyelets and be able to use the sanding strips on a power saw at very low speed. Ray
  5. Probably too far to drive Kevin but thanks. Ray
  6. Kevin, that looks a lot like mine. I bought mine from Harbor Freight for about $35. It has the cover that you want too. For the price, I feel that it is a very good bargain. It works great, has no distortion that I have found and moves around really well. Ray
  7. I'm still thinking Charley. You have piqued my interest and I might just throw an offer at the seller after Christmas. I'm still waiting hear back from the seller of the Sakura but he is obviously not monitoring his email. Ray
  8. I sure do envy you guys and all your space.
  9. What a great project. And a very nice design. He will love it. You'll be getting orders for more once all his friends see it. Ray
  10. I would love to have one of those high dollar saws. I would also love to be able to justify the cost to my wife. She will just say, what do you need another saw for? And such an expensive one? You know how that is. Anyway, I would love to be like Steve Good and have one of every decent saw that is made. I'm following along closely here on SSV to try to gain all the little tidbits of info on the weak and strong points of each saw. If I am understanding you correctly, the old Hawks are still a very good saw? Of course the Seycos and the Ex's are way out there but there are a lot of older Hawks and they can be picked up pretty cheap. What I want to know is, at what point do they become not upgradeable? Is there a year that I should be looking for that will give me all the option availability? I guess the Hegners might be the same way so I would need to know the same thing about them. Thanks to everybody up until now who have managed to fill in a lot of blanks. Ray
  11. I like this idea. I'm sorry now that I epoxied mine on. Ray
  12. Well said JT. Ray
  13. Thanks Jim. I need to have my thinking validated every once in a while. Ray
  14. I guess I haven't become quite as cynical as you but I have had such great luck with C/L that I never even gave that a thought. I have sold tons of stuff on there and never once did I post my cell number. I have don'e it all through email and pictures. I even sold a classic car to a guy in Indianapolis that way. Of course after a while we did talk by phone but I never put it in my original ad. I guess that's why Baskin Robbins has done so well. A flavor for everybody's taste. Ray
  15. Thanks Charley, I'm looking at a Sakura right now and have emailed the seller but if I miss that one, I might just go for the Q3. Ray
  16. I'm looking at an ST-14-3 on C/L right now. It's located about an hours drive south of me and the fellow is asking $55. I wrote and told him I wanted it if it was in running/operating condition. I'm waiting now for an answer. I don't really need this saw but I WANT it. As I said above, I like older stuff and enjoy getting it all up and running once again. And for $55 bucks, heck, it costs that much to take the wife out for dinner anymore. I too will give this saw a going over and report back what I find. I won't be spending any money on upgrades until I see if it's a keeper. But, if I find that it is, another $100 dollars or so is not much to pay for a good running saw. These things come with a foot pedal and stand so there is not much else to buy. It should be fun. Ray
  17. I totally agree. There is just something about breathing new life into an old piece of equipment. You know, back before it all came from China. Ray
  18. This one just popped up. No picture but it sounds like a great price. https://losangeles.craigslist.org/sfv/tls/d/dewalt-scroll-saw/6429352832.html Ray
  19. A while back, I found that I was missing an issue. I am a subscriber so I called to ask whether I could purchase a missing copy. They graciously offered to just send it to me. I said thanks and went on my way. About an hour later, as I was cleaning up the top of my desk, I found that missing copy. So, I called them and told them to put that shipment on hold as I no longer needed it. They fell all over themselves thanking me for calling. They are a wonderful organization and they are committed to our hobbies of woodworking and carving. Thanks Fox Chapel Publishing. Ray
  20. Well, please let me know. I have been trying borrow a neighbor's clamp screws just to see if it makes a difference in my machine. It seems to me that my saw was much more smooth running prior to my installing the bigger knobs. It just occurred to me recently that they may be the vibration I have been chasing. Ray
  21. Iggy, I did the same thing for my Dewalt. Not a roung wheel but a larger version of the original knob. I epoxied them on. Now, I have some doubts though as to whether they might be just a bit out of balance and cause the machine to vibrate at high speeds. Ray
  22. I somewhat agree on the sped up parts that are repetitious. Such as when a bunch of holes are being drilled or screws inserted. Over and over. I don't need to see all that. But to watch you doing all the intricate cuts, I was watching your hand movements more than the blade cutting. I need to learn all that part. Ray
  23. A man cannot have too many tools. I have some that may not get used at all. But, it the need arises and it gets me out of a jam, then it has paid for itself. I sold tools for a living and I'm a firm believer in this. Ray
  24. Thanks for an excellent description. I can envision it like you are here. Ok, I get it. And, I see no reason to have the blades centered in the clamps. As long as the blade is straight and is running perpendicular to the table. Thanks for taking the time.
  25. I know there are some folks using and loving this saw. Just saw it on C/L. https://orangecounty.craigslist.org/tls/d/delta-model-18-variable-speed/6427023033.html
