  1. Thanks Gonzo, I did find a youtube video on making small ones for a Dremel but I can see now what you are talking about. I had never seen one before so it was hard to imagine a "ball" in my mind's eye. I'm going to make one of each grit if I can find the ScotchBrite pads. I've never seen anything except the green ones. Ray
  2. I take it your saw was out of warranty. That's a sad situation but understandable in the world we live in now. Nobody wants to put any money into inventory. It all depends on what comes in on the boats from China/Taiwan. My wife was just saying the other day, she finds something she really likes and goes back to buy more and is told that whatever the item is, they are no longer in stock and no more will be coming. It's a one time order and what sells, sells. Fact of life. SAD.
  3. Yeah, I can certainly see your point Stoney. It would have made me irate too. Is your saw a Delta or a Dewalt? I've lost sight of who has what saw. Did you ever get the problem rectified?
  4. You mentioned the Black and Decker umbrella. I just had a very pleasant experience with B&D. We had purchased a cordless vac from Amazon of that brand and it started slowing down and not holding a charge. So, I called them to find out how to get a battery for it. They told me that the batteries are not a service item and not available. So, I asked the girl whether the buyer should just "trash" their $80 vacuum. She said no, they would replace it. But, that particular one was no longer available and it would be replaced with the newer version. The old one was 12 volt and the new one is 20 volt lithium with a charging base. It is much more powerful. All this at no charge. So, at this point in time, I'm not afraid to buy B&D stuff. Ray
  5. I just had to check this one out. It seems that the $150 price is a "starting bid". So far there are no bids. I'll bet the seller has a minimum bid on this and it won't sell for this price. Ray
  6. Ok, I'll bite. How do you make sanding balls. I just went to the Woodcraft site and found the ScotchBrite balls but I don't see how they are made from that one picture. Can you please explain how you do it?
  7. You have to go into the store to get it. I have a copy of my DD214 that I shrunk down to credit card size. I just show it when I purchase. Never been turned down.
  8. Have any of you folks made your own sanding mops? I saw a video on how to do it and it seems pretty easy. Ray
  9. Yes, I buy all my big stuff from HD. I appreciate the veteran's discount and if you time it right, you can get 12-24 months same as cash. No interest.
  10. Hey Travis, I was just wondering if there is a way to delete a post or topic that a person may not want to see anymore? I started a topic and now, it is no longer a valid item so I would like to see it disappear. How do I go about that?

You can't delete old topics, only an Admin or Moderator can.  We only delete topics under rare circumstances.  If it's old information, it will just age out and get buried deeper into the forum.  PM me if you want me to look at something specific.

Thanks. I just wanted to get rid of a link that I had posted. No problem though.

  11. See, I knew you could do it. Congrats. Now get busy. Ray
  12. That's a darned shame. They are perverting a once fine name. What the heck is happening to our country?
  13. I have had many Dewalt tools but I have to agree with you on pricing. I never thought that Delta was any better though. I had a lot of the bigger Delta stuff but that was back when I had money coming in every week. Now, well, it's Harbor Freight and Craigslist for me. So far, I have bought all my shop tools used and gotten pretty good deals. Living in So.Cal. there are a lot of things on Craigslist near me. Did you see the ad for the Excalibur 30" saw that I posted. I wish I had room for another saw. Ray
  14. Wow! That's even better. I wonder why the Dewalt version is so much more.
  15. This sounds like a good deal on a Delta scroll saw. Ebay, free shipping, under $400. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Delta-Power-Tools-40-694-20-In-Variable-Speed-Scroll-Saw/332465428894?epid=2254908595&hash=item4d687bd99e:g:osUAAOSwPIhaHfdU Ray
  16. This just showed up on Craigslist today. I wish I had room for it. https://palmsprings.craigslist.org/tls/d/30-excalibur-precision-scroll/6406444253.html Ray
  17. If you have the equipment to do it, I'd cut a 3/16" rabbit on one internal edge of each panel. Making sure you did it on the same edge of each panel. Then, it's a simple matter of gluing them together with a good clamp system. They will end up being a "box".
  18. So, how'd you do it? I knew it could be done but I don't know how. Ray
  19. I recently came across a photo of a uniquely marked cat and I thought it would be great to do a scroll pattern from the pic. The cat is marked in a very mottled pattern of black and white so it should be an easy thing to do. I just don't know how. The pic is attached. Ray
  20. Well, that's one problem with the Chinese stuff. Anyway, I'd just adjust it to be a bit lower and let it got at that. As long as you have the main table adjusted to the blade, at least you can use the bandsaw.
  21. This is the book that I bought first. It gave me a great start on many different aspects of the craft. Lots of beginner patterns. https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/1565238494/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o08_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Ray
  22. Edward, the right side table has no adjustments for leveling. Only truing according to the blade. Set it square to the blade and then adjust the left table to it. Or, take the darned thing off. I have a Delta bandsaw and I have no table to the left and don't miss it. You can't let that single issue stop you from using a great tool. Also, stop worrying about "bothering" folks. Most of us feel very good about helping our fellow man. I wish we weren't so far apart, I'd love to help you. Ray
  23. Did you take it all the way off? The problem is probably under it. If it comes down to something more, just take off the switch cover/switch assy. and then the 4 screws that hold the cover over the rod housing. Once you take that cover off you can adjust the tension rod. I'd say from what you describe, two full turns counter clockwise should do it. Very easy to do.
  24. If you ever want to see what WD40 does to metal, spray a pad of 4-0 steelwool with it and let it just sit for a month or so. It will eat the pad up.
  25. Edward, I just did a google search for woodshop classes near where you live and found some listings. One in Nixa sounds like it might be a good fit for you. http://www.woodturnersofswmo.org/shop-class-in-nixa-mo-2/ Ray
