  1. Hook up with Denny Kneppan here on the Village. He sells the Pegas brand of blades. Many of us prefer them. I'm not sure he has a "sample pack" but I'm sure he can help you out and his prices are the best. Shipping too. Artcraftersonline.com is his website.
  2. Only dumb question is the one not asked. I heard that somewhere. Believe me, I'm 7-8 years in and still asking "dumb" questions. So ask away. Generally the first one is "what blades do I use" or "who makes the best blades"? Ready, set, go.
  3. Look at the i d plate at the right rear by the motor. It should say either Canada, Taiwan or China. What color is your saw. If it's green it's definitely a good one. Black can be either Taiwan or China. If you bought it used 6 years ago I'd say it's not Chinese. As to cleaning the rheostat try blowing it out with high pressure air. Preferrably the stuff you buy for computers. It's dry air. No moisture. While blowing it out wherever you can get air into it you'll want to be rotating the knob or shaft to dislodge any dirt/dust/corrosion. If after doing that you still have a problem you might have to unsolder the wires from it and take it to an electronics supply store to get a new one. But, don't get in over your head. If you can't do it try to find someone who can.
  4. My wife's favorite movie.
  5. He appears to be "grunting" a bit.
  6. Great work as always Kevin. You are truly a "machine". Now, it's time to change up your profile pic. Something that reflects your "wellness".
  7. It was recently posted that the most expensive vehicle to operate in the U.S. is the shopping cart at Costco.
  8. Sounds like a dirty rheostat to me also. Blow it out with a can of compressed air. Maybe get a can of contact cleaner too. If it turbs out to be a bad rheostat, that's an easy fix too. Out of curiosity, is your saw a Chinese Ex or one of the earlier saws?
  9. Welcome. You did well on your purchase. You will never wear it out. My suggestion, besides hanging out here, is to check out Scrollsawworkshop.blogspot.com. It's a site with tons of info and 1000's of free patterns. The owner is a fellow by the name of Steve Good. If you sign up for his emails you'll get a free pattern everyday and usually a lot more. Now, it's time to have fun. Your addiction begins.
  10. Kev, when you get the "out of toner" warning give my video a look. The printers count the number of print jobs and at a certain number they think they're outta ink. Do a reset and keep on going. Like I said, I'm sti on my starter cartridge.
  11. Here is a link to them on Amazon. Pretty cheap as far as price goes. It looks like they are made for a hand-held saw for doing very fine work. https://www.amazon.com/SE-815JSB-Jewelers-Piercing-Blade/dp/B002Q8886C/ref=asc_df_B002Q8886C/?tag=&linkCode=df0&hvadid=309869401414&hvpos=&hvnetw=g&hvrand=1348244730594903340&hvpone=&hvptwo=&hvqmt=&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl=&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=9031544&hvtargid=pla-434140747886&ref=&adgrpid=63364097444&th=1
  12. I just checked on Amazon and as I said, mine is discontinued. Somebody has a used one on there for sale for only $1000. Yuck yuck!
  13. It was probably me who posted. I bought a color all-in-one Brother laser printer on Amazon a few years back. It was on sale at the time at about $225. Believe it or not I'm still using the starter cartridges that came with it. I found a youtube video that explains how to override the "out-of-ink" warning that they build into the printer. I don't do much color printing so I bought a black cartridge that just sits waiting. My printer is discontinued but for sake of info the model number is MFC-9130CW. I'd buy it again. If anybody is interested, here is the link to the Youtube video on how to override the empty cartridge warning. They want you to think that you need to buy a new cartridge but you probably don't need one. This works on many different models.
  14. What? You're not retired? So sad!
  15. I had a close friend who tossed many of his tools over his house out into a field. Never to be seen again. His forehead and knuckles were testament to each and every one. I'm sure someone with a metal detector will find a treasure trove someday.
  16. It seems strange that they have that many saws to offer when the Pegas saws haven't been around much longer than that. They would have had to do full replacements on those saws fairly recently in my thinking. Why not offer a warranty on them of some sort since they have been "factory reconditioned"? Strange for sure.
  17. I'm trying to rescue my latest project because something similar happened to me. I hate using BB because of it's fragility. I was trying to rout the edges of a tissue box that I made and went too deep too fast. Shredded the edges. Now I have to remove all the scrolled side panels and replace them. Never say die?
  18. Thanks for all the answers to my topic. I forget that where I live we don't have to separate the todo list into summer and winter projects. I was mostly worried that all the violent weather may have adversely effected the lives of those in the storm states. Glad to hear that nobody was in peril.
  19. All it needs is a propeller.
  20. Exactly Kevin. Cosmetics shouldn't void the mechanical warranty.
  21. I think we are saying the same thing but phrasing it differently. Refurbed anything should be about 30% off retail and still carry a full warranty. Everything I ever bought that way turned out to be better than new because it had been through production twice. Quality control twice.
  22. I think what Kevin meant was the for a refurb he'd expect more that a $200 discount. I misunderstood too.
  23. Denny, what I saw was over $700. About a $200 discount. I know someone at Bearwoods does videos on youtube so I'm thinking they are moving the used saws.
  24. Burger King was the first to sell microwaved burgers back in the late 60s. I've never been a fan of their food. But, what I had was called "Beyond Meat" and I think it was a soy/tofu mix. Whatever they did to it, it tasted and looked like meat and the texture was similar. It was good.
  25. I was wondering the same thing. Maybe selling their demos as refurbs.
