I can't tell you how great the service is from Artcraftersonline.com enough. I ordered another set of Pegas chucks on Tuesday. It's Friday and I have them in hand. That's from Tennessee to So. Cal. in 3 days. I'm truly surprised at the USPS too. They are usually slow but they have stepped it up. Thanks Denny Knappen for the great service. And a 15% discount to boot.

Dan, is there a substitute for the mineral spirits? I was at H/D today and checked again but still no go. They have paint thinner and another product called paint cleaner if I recall. I've never seen it before.

I just picked up something I made that was dipped in Watco and once dried I sprayed it with Zinnzer's shellac. No smell at all.

I usually wait 3-4 days between coats. As to odor it may never go away.

Look at the i. d. Plate. If it says made in China, chances are it's wore out. That's where we start. If not, we can move on.

That's what I have too but mine is the original on with the plastic base. I've gone all through it and fine-tuned it so it is very accurate. The Japanese guy whose videos I've become hooked on also uses one and he has made a lot of accessory add-ons for his. He came up with a baffle for inside that keeps most of the sawdust under control and routes it to the vac pickup. I made one for my saw and it works great. Mine had to be altered a bit because of a difference in saw design. His videos are addicting. Very creative guy. He goes by Ohyo56 and has lots to view.

I hang out here mostly but I also belong to every scroll saw/woodworking related group on Facebook. I am constantly telling folks on there about this website and our fantastic group. I just got a young lady from Kansas to join yesterday and I think she will be buying a used saw from one of our members. It's truly a "family" here.

I did that just recently when making a spiral cut bowl. I needed a wider kerf so I just decided to give it a try. I guess it wasn't the first time it had been done. You have to let the blades sort of "nest" together side by side because of the cut of the teeth. They will be just a tad bit offset to each other.

Frank, you mentioned dusting the joint with sawdust to fill any gaps. Along that same line, I picked up a hint while watching the old Japanese guy I've been following on YOutube. He adds salt to his glue up to keep the wood from "sliding" on the glue. I thought that looked like something that would be helpful to pass along.

Thanks for a great intro. But, unless you're going back to Illinois for some other reason at today's fuel prices you'd be able to buy a new saw for less than the gas to go round trip. Anyway, I'm sure you're going for more than that. Happy you found this great group. I've been here going on 8 years now and so happy I found it when I did. Welcome!

I visited the street address where I was born and it's now a vacant lot. I'm so happy my folks decided to pull up stakes and move West in 1948. The entire neighborhood where I lived has gone down hill. Terrible to see.

Well, they are supposed to be pretty dependable from all that I've heard and read but I guess it all depends on who their vendor is. I've not bought any of their stuff so I can't give any input but I sure hope you get your satisfaction from them because this a very big forum to air your grievances on and I'm sure they don't want thousands of people hearing about your trials and tribulations.
